It is an interesting feature on google, tried it, could see balcony of my apartment, and it gives ya a better view of what is actually on your street from a pictorial view, rather then just a graphic view. | |

Posted: 10/21/2009 11:15:21 AM | | I tried it a couple times, found it quite impressive. They have a pretty sensible privacy policy and I don't think it's much of a concern. Everything they see could also be seen by normal people walking on the street, so the only problem I see is if they record something somebody would like to deny. They do listen to takedown requests, which sounds like a good enough solution to me. | |

Posted: 11/6/2009 9:31:53 PM | I have used the Google Street Viewer only a couple times to check out neighborhoods that I am thinking about moving to. Its really too slow for regular use. Google Earth is good as well.
I use Google Maps all the time, I really like how you can mark things and save it to your account. | |

Posted: 11/7/2009 12:12:21 AM | It's neat in some ways for the harmlessly curious souls out there. I can't help to think of what ease it may bring to the career thief in planning their targets as far as scoping things out and finding those targets with best cover, rather than driving around neighbourhoods like they do now to spot them.
Take a look at your places on there folks. A lot of bushes/trees/junk around your front doors and windows? High priced toys in your front yard? No lighting around your front entryways? Easy to access gates on your back yards?
Might be a good time to make some changes to your living space to discourage crimes of opportunity. | |

I didn't know you were free range. I figured you'd flown the coop, either way. Isn't Google great? We can all be that much closer to each other. Birds of a feather.

Posted: 11/15/2009 12:44:50 PM | I wonder if they'll ever extend the canada stuff to go out to the Okanagan and a few northern places and the territories. It would be nice if victoria was on there too. i hope winnipeg is on there some time.
