| Happy in your skin? Posted: 10/9/2009 2:09:04 PM | I am happy.. granted I would like a little less skin but apart from that I do like myself
I do feel it necessary to look my best before I leave the house and the only thing I would change is my weight, but I can change that with some real wilpower but no I wouldn't change my very being. I am a good person with alot of friends and think I wouldn't have them if I wasnt a good likeable person.

| Happy in your skin? Posted: 10/10/2009 2:12:21 AM | msg 7.....yes of course if somone offered to wave a magic wand making me 6 stone lighter I would accept and yes of course I dont want to make the effort to lose weight myself because yes actually it is damn hard work and I dont like the food you have to eat to do it. I wasted 35 yrs trying to be that elusive slim person that your "supposed" to be. The majority of the time makin myself miserable whilst doing so. I' not gonna waste the next 35 yrs doing the same ( altho judging by one post I'll be lucky to live the next 5 yrs lol ) And of course I do understand the health concequences but MY weight wasnt really what I was bringing up for discussion it was other peoples attitudes...silly me
Sorry it took me a while to answer Ive been stuffing my face with 29 chocolate doughnuts, 5 packets of biscuits, 2 loafs of bread and I am JOKING

| Happy in your skin? Posted: 10/10/2009 5:48:29 AM | I am happy with who I am, I have done a lot of soul searching in the last few years and am begining to find the real me and I really like her. BUT there is one thing I would change to be happy in my skin....... my skin!!!!
I've always been a big girl, but for a few years I was very big (here goes, I was pushing it wearing size 26/28 clothes) plus being pregnant with the twins didn't help. I have lost a good few dress sizes so far and the result though great for my health etc has been bad for my skin, it seems I no longer fit into it lol. So once all the weight has gone a little nip/tuck/lift would be make all the difference to me, but if I can't get surgery, then I will just have to live with it.

| Happy in your skin? Posted: 10/10/2009 6:13:43 AM | How come this thread has ended in a 'weight issue' thread when in fact it was about being happy in your own skin from within...well that was my take, no matter what size you are if you ain't 'mentally happy' you ain't going to be physically happy! PS I am happy in my skin 90% of the time the other 10% is when I have PMT! | |

6 chocolate eclairs, corn beef hash, steak pie, strawberry gateaux, and no I am NOT joking ..
How come this thread has ended in a 'weight issue' thread
Because some are only happy in their own skin, when they are telling others how to be happy in theirs ...

Haha! Well said missus! And I'm not saying that because I'm sticking up for any personal weight issues (size 10/12) ... I'm saying it because she's right!

| Happy in your skin? Posted: 10/13/2009 6:56:27 AM | oh hell no.
I was happier last year - before I stopped going to the gym and put on 3stone. I don't like me and don't expect anyone else too. Also, far far too honest and blunt. Not in a rude, insulting way but I'm told by close friends who tell me that they "appreciate it but others who don't know me might want to thump me". :) actually, in retrospect that probably means I am insulting. oh buggerit.

| Happy in your skin? Posted: 10/13/2009 7:06:57 AM | | My daddy always used to say to me when i was little "we are what we are, and not what we wish to be", i accepted myself a long time ago. | |

| Happy in your skin? Posted: 10/13/2009 7:27:45 AM | I believe 50 cent said "I am what I am, you could like it or love it"
I don't see any room for improvement, but I do go to the gym about 4 times a week but only to increase my fitness for Badminton & Squash. As a result I've lost about 9lbs and have become more toned.
But its the side effect of healthy eating and training.

| Happy in your skin? Posted: 10/13/2009 8:55:00 AM | i'm ginger... i failed even before i started ;)

| Happy in your skin? Posted: 10/13/2009 2:01:56 PM | yes, I am At nearly 52 I am probably more comfortable ith my body now than I was when a lot younger. I also look around me and reckon I compare favourably with women 25 years younger than me

| Happy in your skin? Posted: 10/13/2009 2:09:57 PM | Absolutly. only yesterday a delightful gentleman told me I had the body of a 25 year old, then added, you had better give it back you are getting it all wrinkled.
Off to body shop for a new one!

| Happy in your skin? Posted: 10/13/2009 2:32:07 PM | I'm quite happy with my face part, as I don't think it's the face of a 42 year OLD man . As for my 6 pack, it's currently a keg! | |

| Happy in your skin? Posted: 10/13/2009 2:35:48 PM | Today I would have given anything to be in someone else's skin! It's not often I feel like ripping someone's head from their shoulders and kicking it into the River Thames. I feel so much better now I'm back in my own skin. Hmmm... so that means I must have been in Dr Hyde's earlier. | |

| Happy in your skin? Posted: 10/13/2009 2:57:40 PM | I am happy with myself in fact I quite like me. Ok I am 50, overweight, short, wear glasses AND I am single!
hmmm, you state you are happy then immediatly list your negatives, that is interesting and maybe telling. You know there is nothing wrong with disliking aspects of ourselves, it gives us something to work on to improve ourselves. I actually dont believe there is anyone in this world who is totally happy with themselves, i know i have plenty of room for improvement. But I dont believe its these qualities I dislike that are the reason for my singleness, imperfect people (ie the entire population of the world bar maybe the dali lama) meet others and have relationships all the time!! Its EGO that says "there is nothing wrong with me, i dont need to change" humility is more attractive.

| Happy in your skin? Posted: 10/13/2009 3:05:15 PM | Unfortunatly the negatives are what people see first. I listed them first merely to show that I am no fool and under no illusions I do know what people see when they look at me its just a shame they often dont look further. | |

In response to .
I am happy with myself in fact I quite like me.
Where's the negative ?
Ok I am 50, overweight, short, wear glasses AND I am single!
Acceptance not negativity, maybe a few more should practise it, instead of thinking they are something they are not ...

Unfortunatly the negatives are what people see first. how do you know that is what people see first? Maybe its insecurity that makes you think that, I am sure its your kindness and all those good qualities that peole notice first. Stop focusing on the negs, believe the positives I bet your weight falls off!!

| Happy in your skin? Posted: 10/14/2009 2:25:14 AM | If the camera adds 10lbs does that mean I have to drop 10lbs before taking a photo?
Hmmmm.... | |

| Happy in your skin? Posted: 10/14/2009 2:42:17 AM | I think we need to define "happy in your skin" Surely it means that your comfortable with yourself, that you dont have hang ups, that you accept yourself for what you are and dont try to become what people expect you to be? Not that you think your gods gift but that you dont think your the pits either. Its not about weight or about beauty its about how YOU feel about yourself. And yeah I felt pretty good about me untill I started this thread lol I actually dont care if the weight falls off me thanks very much theres more of me to love. So enough of the well meaning advice and just follow the thread. | |
