Go to court, get clarification on who goes where and when and who has final say on all of that. I know, it costs.. but in Canada, if you are on assistance (not saying YOU are) Family Maintainance takes care of the court costs for you and you can get this all in writing.
I do believe you need to take the entire family to counselling. I'm sure there are counselling places that operate on a sliding fee scale based on your income.
