| Event Interest - Cooking Class Posted: 11/1/2009 2:49:00 PM | These are certainly more $$$ total and per class. I think most everyone showing interest has some basic cooking experience-of necessity if for no other reason. Please let me know as Nov 14 is now less than 2 weeks away. I will be here regardless! I think 8 would be great but I could accommodate a couple more-to a maximum of 10 at a table. | |

| Event Interest - Cooking Class Posted: 11/5/2009 4:56:20 PM | No and I'm a little . Sent him another email today on facebook saying he's got to confirm a date. If he's not available, anyone interested in authentic Indian fare? Have another girlfriend who is willing to stand in and show us how to do that. | |

| Event Interest - Cooking Class Posted: 11/5/2009 7:01:15 PM | | I love indian. I worked at a place once that had quite a few Indian ladies working there. The ones on the crew I supervised always made me have lunch with them. Oh man was that good. And when I said made me eat, I mean it. I would say no thank you and they would physicaly grab me and make me sit down. Great ladies. | |

| Event Interest - Cooking Class Posted: 11/5/2009 7:28:34 PM | | AMEN!! Brussel sprouts are pure evil. I think that they are a giant satanic rabbits poop. Little green balls of death. My mom used to force me to eat those things. | |
|
| Event Interest - Cooking Class Posted: 11/5/2009 7:44:18 PM | Brussel sprouts are yummy! Especially with cheese sauce or lots of butter. Hmmmm... maybe this post should be in the “Odd Quirks” thread | |
|
| Event Interest - Cooking Class Posted: 11/5/2009 7:52:43 PM | There you go! I couldn't think of any odd quirks I had....But I've always loved Brussels sprouts - even as a kid. Not even smothered in cheese sauce. LOL
Then again, I liked liver and pigs feet too. More odd quirks. lol
|
| Event Interest - Cooking Class Posted: 11/5/2009 8:36:06 PM | | Oh man Daisy, you were a strange child. I am so glad that my parents both hated liver. I have never had it, but I did smell it cooking at my grandma's house ones. I almost got sick just from the smell. As I kid I liked cooked, soft onions but could not stand raw ones. | |
|
| Event Interest - Cooking Class Posted: 11/5/2009 8:45:35 PM | Whoa..sweating the sprouts. YES, they are sorta bitter at times, but how about that nutritional value? Plus, they're the perfect size for the fork.
I like all that AND liver...the only thing I can't bare to eat is cheap vanilla ice cream.
|
| Event Interest - Cooking Class Posted: 11/5/2009 9:08:20 PM | | Liver is the filter of the body. All the bad stuff goes there. It is like eating a kidney. That makes pee. Yuck and double yuck. | |
|
| Event Interest - Cooking Class Posted: 11/5/2009 10:16:22 PM | | Liver and pigs' feet are fine-just NO brussel sprouts thanx!!! Satanic rabbit poop for sure!!!One Christmas dinner,I had spent much of the day en route from Grand Prairie and was a tad tired. I was sitting beside the host who liked brussel sprouts as much as I do. I caught a glance of someone putting a huge scoop of those suckers on my plate and said a rather loud NO!!! She quickly removed every tidbit and had us all laughing!! | |
|
| Event Interest - Cooking Class Posted: 11/6/2009 5:40:41 AM | | Did you know that you have to have a particular enzyme in order to not be turned off by the strong taste of brussel sprouts? So while some find the taste overwhelmingly offensive, those who like 'em can say we are more evolved? But then again, taste is supposed to be a factor in protecting humans from injesting bad things so perhaps we're less evolved???????.....LOLOLOLOL | |

Aaaah, but brussels sprouts are not bad things ...
They are an excellent source of vitamins K and C: 156 grams of Brussels sprouts contain 273% of the RDA for vitamin K, and 161% for vitamin C.
They are also a very good source of folate, vitamin A, manganese, dietary fiber, potassium and vitamin B6, and a good source of tryptophan (an essential amino acid), thiamin, omega-3 fatty acids, iron, phosphorus, protein, magnesium, riboflavin, vitamin E, copper and calcium.
There is a growing body of evidence pointing to Brussels sprouts as a powerful cancer prevention food. Plant phytonutrients found in Brussel sprouts enhance the activity of the body's natural defense systems to protect against disease, including cancer.
Sometimes Mother Nature has a very warped sense of humor

| Event Interest - Cooking Class Posted: 11/6/2009 6:23:41 AM | | I am certainly not debating the nutrition value; I simply cannot tolerate them! Kitten cat-I live your analysis. Perhaps we could make teams and discuss this further!!! | |
|
| Event Interest - Cooking Class Posted: 11/6/2009 7:22:14 AM | I'm game for an Indian Cooking Class. However, if this held in someone's home, I can't be around cigarette smoke, I'm highly allergic. So far November 14th does work for me, but that could change.
I love brussel sprouts but won't eat liver or pigs feet.
|
| Event Interest - Cooking Class Posted: 11/6/2009 11:25:23 AM | I hear you^^^!!! Still waiting for an instructor. If that falls through, is anyone interested in doing a pot luck supper a bit later that day? | |
|
| Event Interest - Cooking Class Posted: 11/6/2009 11:35:53 AM | The Indian class is held at SAIT on Campus for 3 hours, costs about 95 bucks. SAIT has a whole stack of interesting classes which are 3 hour seminars. Not really a good "dating" thing but going in a group is a possibility.
SAIT trains chef's and I know from being a student there they have some good equipment. The pub's great too for "apres-class drinking". And the view of downtown owns me.

| Event Interest - Cooking Class Posted: 11/6/2009 12:18:17 PM | AE-you did not respond to my question. Maybe I should have said Disco nite instead of supper! | |
|
| Event Interest - Cooking Class Posted: 11/6/2009 3:42:01 PM | November 14 doesn't work for Chef but he has provided some alternate dates:
Nov 21 or 22 Nov 28 (evening only) or 29
Friendly widow...can you host either of those dates?
|
| Event Interest - Cooking Class Posted: 11/6/2009 7:12:00 PM | Yes, but the last weekend is Grey Cup and the one before will have the semi finals so I don't know if others are interested. What about the pot luck supper on the 14th and go from there.? Maybe it would be better to wait til the new year as people are getting into Christmas parties soon! Actually the 21st is the do at the Ranchman's so that is not a good date at all!!! | |
|
| Event Interest - Cooking Class Posted: 11/6/2009 7:30:28 PM | | I should be able to do a potluck supper on Nov 14th......the rest of November and December are too busy for me, so the new year w0uld work better for a cooking class. | |
|
| Event Interest - Cooking Class Posted: 11/6/2009 7:31:46 PM | | I'm good with the p0tluck since the XMAS parties are starting....we can plan a cooking event in January? | |
|
| |
| Event Interest - Cooking Class Posted: 11/6/2009 7:40:45 PM | I think I am in for the potluck, have something in the morning on the 14, but should be done that early afternoon. (when is next euchre?)
And possibly the cooking class.
I have a fabulous recipe for liver and brussels sprouts
jk, I wouldn't mix the two!
