Posted: 11/4/2009 8:40:47 PM | i've found old 50's music have been really catching my ear lately. it's upbeat, hopeful, and even the sad ones have a sweet linger to them.
vocalists like ella fitzgerald and dean martin are oh so sweet to hear. you can understand what they're singing about without straining your ears or brains. | |

Posted: 11/5/2009 3:03:35 PM | Matisyahu is an amazingly talented performer and songwriter. I admire his sincere and uplifting lyrics.
I am also anxiously awaiting the latest release from Sade and her incredible band. Her voice defines the word "sultry", and her lyrics are truly beautiful. She also is a tremendous live act, for anyone who has seen her Lovers Live DVD. And beautiful, and elegant, and classy. I love her.
That being said, I also gotta give it up to my love, Regina Spektor. A singer/songwriter extraordinaire. Beautiful, talented....google Regina Spektor: Live at the Tonic, and watch her....Damn!
Okay then, how 'bout India Arie's song "Ready for Love"?
Or the collaborations of Stan Getz and Joao GIlberto, not to mention Astrud? Another hauntingly beaitiful voice.

Posted: 11/11/2009 9:13:31 PM | My acoustic inspiration comes from fingerstyle guitarists such as Andy Mckee, Antonie Dufour and Craige De Andrea. All of the artists on the Candyrat label are amazingly talented, not only their fingerstlye acoustic.
If we have any other acoustic players looking for a new style to break you out of the rut, i recommend giving these guys a look. they've really transformed my style and what music really means to me. | |
