| fat-ism, the next one for the pc brigade? Posted: 11/7/2009 7:30:45 AM | I had my thyroid removed four years ago, since then my battle with my weight as been a nightmare.Im not a big eater, dont drink or smoke, i try to excersise as much as i can but being on crutches dont help. I would love to be back to what my weight was thirty yrs ago but cant see that happening. Wish people would stop knocking the over weight until they know the facts , some people have no choice. The tablets i take are the problem, and anyone with thyroid problems will tell you they suffer the same. | |

it is not your problem if they wheeze or have a heart attack due to stuffing the old face with all the wrong foods - walk away and carry on fishing I say.
it is not fat-ist it is fact, unhealthy people are fatter than healthy people.

| fat-ism, the next one for the pc brigade? Posted: 11/7/2009 8:05:18 AM | | I think the word fat is quite offensive. Is it worse to call someone "queer" or "paki" then it is to call someone "fat" ? I guess it depends on how you view your "ism's" - childish name calling / bullying / or discrimination / prejudicism (is that spelt correctly ?). Personally, I think they're on a equal par. | |

that has to win first prize in the Thick as Shit Statement of the Year Award
Have you ever seen anyone who is terminally ill? Have you ever watched a loved one waste away before your eyes of some vicious disease that just eats them away from the insides?
Have you ever seen a person suffering from an eating disorder so severe that they end up dying of malnutrition?
I have heard some stupid remarks on here aimed at fat people but that one really takes the cake.........Pun intended!

| fat-ism, the next one for the pc brigade? Posted: 11/7/2009 9:38:06 AM | well said, lard on a lady aint pretty, there are specialised sites like BBW if women want to hang on to that excess blubber enough of the excuses already on here puuuuurlease.
I think if someone is fat and happy fine if they are not there are ways they can do something about it. There are certain jobs it might not be possible to do because of being fatter and maybe not so quick on your feet? (soliders/policemen/fireman etc) as for everything else the world is not perfect and neither is anyone in it.
What makes me very uneasy is the very judgemental posts such as I've quoted as if fatter people are somehow beneath you because of their size? I don't judge people by their dress size/trouser waist size/height/hair colour etc I have to find them nice to look at but a great smile & a twinkle in the eye denotes a personality & I'd rather that than someone lacking those qualities but looking like a supermodel. If you don't want to date a larger person don't but that does not give you the right to be so rude about them as if you are superior, you are not.
