I don't think it's necessarily a red-flag. Most everyone I know has more than one cellphone. This is (usually) because one is prepaid and is more convenient for some situations, and they also have a phone with a standard plan. In some cases, they have an older phone as well as a newer phone they just like to play around with.

You could just casually ask him about it; such as, "I didn't know you had another cell. Give me your number so we can keep in touch!" If he stumbles to respond, then I guess you have your answer.

I think he's a cad and a scoundrel and he's probably cheating on you. It's "hidden" in the car? If he had an extra one and he was open and upfront about it, I'd ask the purpose. But a hidden one indicates he is doing something he shouldn't be doing.
