| Robot lovers - yes or no? Posted: 10/27/2009 3:07:00 PM | | Hmm. Would you have to introduce Anndroid to your human dates once it started getting serious? And could she be reprogrammed for threesomes? Would it be cheating on your date if you had a quickie with Ann? Would it be cheating on Ann if you upgraded to a newer model? And would robotic surgeons make fortunes by enhancing the size of her bumpers? Would she age gracefully and allow her droid body to be used as an in vitro human plant so my wife didn't have to worry about baby fat? Would she be happy as a nanny after the kids came? And when he got older would my son...nevermind... some thoughts shouldn't be finished. | |

I would hate to get into bed with some of you.

| Robot lovers - yes or no? Posted: 10/27/2009 3:21:11 PM | This thread reminds me of a show or movie I saw a long time ago where the guy had a lifelike sex robot or perhaps wanted one. His wife's response was "why don't you just go into the garage and start kissing the lawnmower".. Women never understand :)
Seriously though, some of the androids coming out of japan are downright creepy. Also, some guy in canada built a robot that he takes everywhere as his 'date'.
Keep in mind Moore's law that states that processing power doubles every year and a half. It has been doing so since about 1970. The trend is projected to continue till about 2015 or so when we get to circuits one molecule wide. So, the processing power today allows for fairly lifelike androids. Approximately 6 more years with doubling every year and half means that the processing power available in 2015 will be about 16 times what is available today. That will probably surpass the cognitive abilities of the average male or female at closing time in the bars.
Add in a wireless link to allow for 'off platform' processing and access to the internet and you could have a robotic date with some real interesting conversation.
OTOH I would still prefer a live, hot blooded woman.

A machine can't have a penis. It can have a penis-shaped part, but that's not a penis.
I bet if you let your imagination take over you would have sooooo much fun!

The urge to wipe-out humanity....... a minor glitch that I could overlook. This I might have an issue with... whether he looks like Gerard Butler or Ralph Fiennes, I don't think I could get past his trying to kill me.
Call it a quirk of mine if you will...

| Robot lovers - yes or no? Posted: 10/27/2009 5:02:32 PM | "is a penis supposed to have two i's ????" Maybe if you find a male enhancement that actually works. And after three months you have a peniiis. | |

| Robot lovers - yes or no? Posted: 10/27/2009 5:27:34 PM | It's more than a penis with a body. My ideal android lover would be well read, highly intellectual but never condescending and have a great sense of humour. As far as homicidal urges go..don't knock it. This could come in handy... | |

| Robot lovers - yes or no? Posted: 10/27/2009 5:49:05 PM | wow nobody jumped to make you one i see.
well I will make you one FFS it will cost about 10mil and take a couple years to make though.
no need to worry about it giving off heat the outer shell will need to act like a heat sink for all the CPU's installed.
might as well use liquid cooling that way all the heated fluid could be pumped to the extremities for optimal cooling that way it could lower the core temp to about 98.6 f
of course to be legal you will need to purchase a copy of every book you wish it to have read.
guess its time for you to start digging up some of that aussie gold to pay for it since the payments would be like 100k a month.
Of course you know the star that burns the brightest burns out the fastest so you would likely need to trade it in for a new one every 5 years or so
sorry couldnt resist | |

I think it would kill the mood to be in the middle of it and have your robotic partner start yelling "We are the supreme masters of the universe. EXTERMINATE - EX-TERM-IN-ATE EX-TERM-IN-IN ATE!!!"
It would seperate the boys from the men to see who would hang on in spite of that.

| Robot lovers - yes or no? Posted: 10/27/2009 6:53:35 PM | Yes, I’d do it, at least for a while.
Mine would be the consummate dinner companion, brilliant conversationalist and avid listener, with an insatiable curiosity for the human experience. We’d talk about hopes and dreams and fears and getting old, and love and John Coltrane and smoking cigarettes, and sex and death and loss, and sadness, loneliness and doubt.
Or rather, I’d talk about it. My companion would listen to me with rapt attention and commit everything to memory and ask insightful questions, and gradually become more life-like, even pointing out my foolish inconsistencies. With patience. Are they allowed to have patience?

| Robot lovers - yes or no? Posted: 10/27/2009 7:01:22 PM | Heck...I'd open a brothel and rent them out! Guess the gov't couldn't bust my butt for that, could they? Renting machines is legal! Ah well....maybe I'd be thinking of them AS people and a new race is born. Then I couldn't just treat them as "machines". They'd be equals. | |

That's it! I'm sneaking into your droid factory FFS, bypass your access codes, and start programming some freakier than freak shyt into it's hard drive that's going to make your next holiday season one to remember. I'm going to be sly about it though. This droid is going to have you right where it wants you unbeknownst to you. "Oh my sweet handsome droid...you know what I've got a yen for tonight? Mmmmm....."
La-dee-da-da-da.... 10, 9, 8, 7, 6....

| Robot lovers - yes or no? Posted: 10/27/2009 7:45:45 PM | | I think even if we got to the point of making Blade Runner Replicants there would still be issues that might pop up. For one they had horribly short lifespans which would make a long term relationship tough. Then there is also the free will aspect of things. Could a bot actually "choose" to love/desire/want you? Or is it just being programmed. Kinda like meeting a really hot woman, falling in love, having the best sex of your life then finding out your buddies had paid her to do it and she really thought you were a desperate schlub. | |
|
| Robot lovers - yes or no? Posted: 10/27/2009 7:54:55 PM | Mmm..could a roid choose to love you? Yeah! Why not? At least it will be programmed to think it's chosen you! And as for you, hearttune, get outta my fantasy, you sick shlub (sorry, I had to use that word. It's so descriptive.) | |
|
| Robot lovers - yes or no? Posted: 10/27/2009 7:59:30 PM | | i'd totally take a robot lover-like a vibrator but with less handcramps.....i'm down for that!!!! but just for sex.... | |
