| Sitting solo on a scary Saturday (Halloween) Posted: 10/31/2009 5:54:35 AM | I'll be at home with a movie and some popcorn. Sunday morning I'll probably be cleaning the eggs off my car that the little b**tards, sorry little darlings, will no doubt have thrown at my car... Now if I had a dungeon, and my pointy hat still... | |

Karaoke...Phillies...Karaoke...Phillies...tough choice.
You can't be serious, go with the karaoke as it is the year of the Pinstripes. Or if you are a glutton for punishment make some chili and garlic bread, have a few coronas and enjoy the Yankees.

| Sitting solo on a scary Saturday (Halloween) Posted: 10/31/2009 7:25:59 AM | No party tonight. Oldest son's state tournament soccer match in Phoenix. They won yesterday, so back again today. Lots of driving, but I know there will come a day when I will miss this kind of thing.
Maybe we'll dodge zombies on the highway during our drive home tonight.
Geezer-glide, if you can make it to Phoenix later today, I'll pay your way in for the match. If not, enjoy the ball game.

| Sitting solo on a scary Saturday (Halloween) Posted: 10/31/2009 8:00:12 AM | OP,
You ask what single people alone do on these "holidays" alone.
Well as some suggest, just treat it like another regular day.
I think as we get older we just have to create new traditions that satisfy our need to feel like we can celebrate an occasion. I am lucky I have close friends that I have had for over 30 years.....
Make some friends, start new traditions...Celebrate.

| Sitting solo on a scary Saturday (Halloween) Posted: 10/31/2009 8:24:08 AM | I got a little tired of sitting home alone so I picked up a part-time job a few nights a week at a comedy club. Last night the comedians had everyone singing and dancing in the aisles and I was right there with them. Tonight I'm hoping for the same thing.
Making money AND having a great time...couldn't ask for more!

| Sitting solo on a scary Saturday (Halloween) Posted: 10/31/2009 8:50:20 AM | I'm seriously thinking of dressing up as the N1H1 virus and going to the bar to rub up against people.........
.... THAT sounds sick and creepy to me!

| Sitting solo on a scary Saturday (Halloween) Posted: 10/31/2009 8:54:16 AM | ^^^i'd like to see a picture of THAT costume!

| Sitting solo on a scary Saturday (Halloween) Posted: 10/31/2009 9:00:45 AM | I go every year and most years alone.. You meet all kinds of people down there and the role playing is loads of fun. Last year I met up with Spidey and Father Time.
This year found a neighbor willing to dress up and go.

Well you can always dress up as a needle and mark NIHI on the tube but you are liable to get mobbed..

| Sitting solo on a scary Saturday (Halloween) Posted: 10/31/2009 11:06:43 AM | | if one trick-or-treater comes to the door, that'll be a lot for my neighborhood! i'll turn off the lights in the front of the house, and watch tv in the back room, with my cats and a glass of wine. pretty exciting evening, don't you think? | |

| Sitting solo on a scary Saturday (Halloween) Posted: 10/31/2009 11:14:44 AM | halloween brings back some of the fondest memories of my childhood, costumes, running the neighborhood in the dark along with seemingly jillions of other kids banging on doors and yelling at the top of our lungs, and then there was the loot!! And then this happened

My hometown, people I knew personally
I enjoy staying home manning the door with handfulls of treats to the survivors of halloween

| Sitting solo on a scary Saturday (Halloween) Posted: 10/31/2009 11:54:24 AM | | I'd love to have a date for tonight, but, it's looking pretty bleak. So, I'll be sitting home watching my 2nd favorite team, the Yankees, and my favorite baseball player of all time.....Andy Pettitte!!!! | |
|
| Sitting solo on a scary Saturday (Halloween) Posted: 10/31/2009 11:56:46 AM | | Just as darkness falls, I will harness up my two Bullies and we will walk the neighborhood for about an hour. Then will go home and man the door and when that's over will head down to one of the lively watering holes here and see how much bullshit I can add to what's already flowing. | |

| Sitting solo on a scary Saturday (Halloween) Posted: 10/31/2009 1:04:21 PM | My daughter is the Joker, DBB is Two-Face, I was going to be Poison Ivy, but that hasn't worked out so well. I guess I'll stick a witches hat on my head, lol.
We typically get 500+ kids, but that dwindled down to about 100 during Sars... not sure how N1H1 is going to affect things this year. Might have a lot of extras. Last year we walked Queen St and we might do it again this year.
|
| Sitting solo on a scary Saturday (Halloween) Posted: 10/31/2009 1:30:29 PM | "not sure how N1H1 is going to affect things "
Not a nice thought that we can come in contact with the virus just by welcoming children to our door for candy. (Maybe I will mask tonight for the shell out.)
Sure wish everyone gets to the point where holidays are just about fun, instead of the "poor me" is am alone for the holidays. Been there, done that. Life has been so much better for years now since I got over it.

| Sitting solo on a scary Saturday (Halloween) Posted: 10/31/2009 2:19:13 PM | Boo on going out this year..World series.
Plus who will throw rocks at the kids?
Would be more fun with someone here to throw the rocks with me. I can catch, but not a good pitcher.

I saw some pigs with wings the other day as Swine "flew"
THAT was funny. | |

| Sitting solo on a scary Saturday (Halloween) Posted: 10/31/2009 2:41:04 PM | I keep waffling.
After every year - year after year after year - having the welcome matt out for the kids, I just feel guilty not doing it again.
But last year ... ONE KID - one baby with a pizzed off mommy (I don't think she like dragging that kid around). Three hours I sat there ready to jump up - put the smile on - greet the kids .... (KID).
I don't want to do it anymore and I feel guilty.
I got the candy (good stuff too, I ate some) but I just don't want to do it again.

| Sitting solo on a scary Saturday (Halloween) Posted: 10/31/2009 2:52:49 PM | I live in the country. We dont get any trick or treaters out here. My daughter, 11, is gone to her dad's this weekend. My son is coming home later, from college, after he meets up with a couple of his friends. The house has been quiet all day. I'd have to pick a good movie and a glass of wine. I did have other plans, they just didnt work out.
Kids are all home at Christmas though. And I have the day off from work.

| Sitting solo on a scary Saturday (Halloween) Posted: 10/31/2009 2:54:01 PM | Just another Saturday night. I'll go out and make my promotional "rounds" to the car cruises, ...then ??? I was just telling someone here that there's plenty to do in this city if a was 30 years younger I would have gone out anyway, just so I wouldn't have to buy any candy... What's the equivalent of a Scrooge, for Halloween?

so don't do it anymore... and definitely DON'T feel guilty - i think the idea is voluntary participation.

| Sitting solo on a scary Saturday (Halloween) Posted: 10/31/2009 3:02:58 PM | | I haven't given out treats to the kiddies for about four or five years now. There are hardly any kids in our neighborhood that do the trick or treat thing. So I just don't buy the candy. I turn out all the lights and go upstairs and play on the 'puter. Decided not to go to the scary movie tonight. Maybe tomorrow. | |
