Posted: 10/31/2009 7:25:59 AM | No party tonight. Oldest son's state tournament soccer match in Phoenix. They won yesterday, so back again today. Lots of driving, but I know there will come a day when I will miss this kind of thing.
Maybe we'll dodge zombies on the highway during our drive home tonight.

You ask what single people alone do on these "holidays" alone.
Well as some suggest, just treat it like another regular day.
I think as we get older we just have to create new traditions that satisfy our need to feel like we can celebrate an occasion. I am lucky I have close friends that I have had for over 30 years.....

Posted: 10/31/2009 8:24:08 AM | I got a little tired of sitting home alone so I picked up a part-time job a few nights a week at a comedy club. Last night the comedians had everyone singing and dancing in the aisles and I was right there with them. Tonight I'm hoping for the same thing.

This year found a neighbor willing to dress up and go.

Well you can always dress up as a needle and mark NIHI on the tube but you are liable to get mobbed..

We typically get 500+ kids, but that dwindled down to about 100 during Sars... not sure how N1H1 is going to affect things this year. Might have a lot of extras. Last year we walked Queen St and we might do it again this year. | |

Not a nice thought that we can come in contact with the virus just by welcoming children to our door for candy. (Maybe I will mask tonight for the shell out.)
Sure wish everyone gets to the point where holidays are just about fun, instead of the "poor me" is am alone for the holidays. Been there, done that. Life has been so much better for years now since I got over it. | |

After every year - year after year after year - having the welcome matt out for the kids, I just feel guilty not doing it again.
But last year ... ONE KID - one baby with a pizzed off mommy (I don't think she like dragging that kid around). Three hours I sat there ready to jump up - put the smile on - greet the kids .... (KID).
I don't want to do it anymore and I feel guilty.
I got the candy (good stuff too, I ate some) but I just don't want to do it again. | |

My son is coming home later, from college, after he meets up with a couple of his friends. The house has been quiet all day. I'd have to pick a good movie and a glass of wine. I did have other plans, they just didnt work out.
Kids are all home at Christmas though.  And I have the day off from work. | |
