I agree.. Out of a 31 yr marriage then I had a relationship and it was wonderful for 3 years. But I find it harder now as I get older that no one seems to want to get to know me.

But I have to say that after reading everyones posts in this thread , you're making me realize just how good I have it and I'm starting to wonder what the hell I'm doing here looking for a girlfriend !

Everyone over 50 should have built the quality of his/her life. However, I have found many people are living with their healthy issues, money shortage, and debt, which it seems that they have no life if they have no paycheck.

I have to agree that as i get older no one seems to want to get to know me.

They do how ever seem to think we soul have sex after the first cup of coffee.

I just bought bagels and three kinds of cream cheese. I intend to have a bagel and a cup of soup for dinner. It occurred to me tha tI coul dnot have done taht when married. I always prepared full meals with an entree and at least 3 sides...

Lte I plan to do some Bible reading and nibble on these huge red seedless grapes I found at the grocery while I read.

This evening, I can't think of one single thing that's positive about being single over 50. .... I do have a life, and do things I enjoy and that are fullfilling, but not having someone to share them with sucks.
I understand and agree Kari.

...For me, one of the upsides to being single is travel is so much more affordable for one...

I find just the opposite, Maeflowers. Of course single fare is cheaper than two fares for simple airfare, but when considering Caribbean holidays, everything is set up for two in a room and there is a penalty for single occupancy. I love going to the DR and had been doing so with my partner. Now, to go alone, is much more expensive. Last year, I talked my business partner/girlfriend into going with me. It was interesting. Her highlights were going to mass and reading the bible on the beach. I think I'll stay in Cape Breton this winter.

The upside of being over 50 is that you can stop being selfish and thinking of yourself and what you (think) need and want. You can use your wisdom to serve and help others without getting anything back. For those who do have God there is the process of getting ready to go "Home" and a future life. You can just let things go and plan your funeral with nice flowers and music. A reality as we all die . . . . some temporarily others permanently.

You can watch what ever you want on the TV, eat meals when you please. Go to bed when you want to, can leave the toilet seat up or down, and not have to explain why you didnt call or was late getting home. Thats about it but i am sure there are more.

It was OK for a while.
But I just don't think we are supposed to be alone - ever.
I'm tired of it.

...Your are probably right. I've lucked out in that my daughter is in the travel industry she does corporate travel but is also a cruise specialist.... So of course the savings are always passed on to mom.

OK, I will admit that I haven't read all 7 pages and hope this is not a duplicate:

One less egg to fry.
One less plate to wash.
I never run out of hot water.

Muwhahahahahahahahaha!

I guess the downside would be that you never mastered finding one who would do those things for you,,,

Ok...load up the dune buggy. The voucher is in the mail.

What I like bout being single...* stops, takes a bite out of her peanut butter sandwich*
is the fact that no one cares if I cook or not.

Oh, contraire, Monsieur NewToMichiana, I had the distinct pleasure of finding two who could cook and didn't mind helping with the cleaning either! Lucky me!

Now, about that hot water thing...........

I can sleep as late and whenever I want without someone ****ing about it and it certainly beats the celestial dirt nap.

Cooking 2 eggs: no big deal.
Washing 2 plates: I cook the eggs, he washes the plates.
Running out of hot water: shower together.
Sleeping late or morning sex? No question which I'd prefer...

Wow, a lot of good stuff here Spend all day re-quoting... Like all this positive stuff, don't dwell on the loneliness, can eat you up! Like the idea of finding new things to do and explore, then hopefully, be able to share with our last companion in our lives, don't know if I'ld remarry, but heyyy, we don't know know what tomorrow will bring!.....And I am so really in agreement with Texas & Rosebuds earlier on....No more going down, that Other Isle
And Mae/Sapphires/&NTM.....reallly enjoy your post, on these forums, very upbeat! & if we had no negative things in life, we wouldn't know then all the great positive stuff we have and enjoy! Cheers!

At 49, I have loved being single to this point. I've been divorced for three years. There are too many advantages to name.
