"If the bear keeps coming a firearm will do more to slow it down/stop it than spray will. It will also allow you to do so at a safe distance"

Still don't want to address the statistical substantiation? You'd rather speculate an outcome contrary to the swubstantiated implication of the data compiled without any contrary substance whatsoever?

You DO NOT know what a firearm is going to do to a bear, period. You do however KNOW Bearspray works [rational deduction from data] effectively far more often than a firearm, period.

Shoot a Grizzly at a "safe" distance and you will be on the other side of those bars man. You'll also have a lot skinnier wallet. Thanks goodness hunters in Wyoming's grizzly country will soon be required to have bearspray so fewer grizzlies get shot from a "safe distance."

I actually saw a video of a man shooting a bear in self-defence. He was absolved by W/Fisheries. He was bear hunting (legally) when a sow with cubs charged him (he did not see the sow and fired at another bear, the sow was in a dip in the terrain or behind brush or something, I don't recall, the video was self exclamatory though). He fired when she got too close for comfort (which was CLOSE!). Watching that video, I am VERY doubtful if spray would have worked. That thing was descending upon him like an angry god.

Exactly, shooting any bear without the proper tag from a "safe distance" is a no-no. Years ago, a former co-worker got a $7,000 fine, lost his rifle, and got a five year hunting prohibition for shooting a grizzly that he thought was about to attack. The MOE guy drove out to the site, took pictures and measurements, and determined that the shooting wasn't warranted.

Have you ever seen bear spray being used? I have, up close and personal, and it worked.
