Oh ....... ME gets everything. There will probably not be alot left when I go. Fully intend on keeping on enjoying it while here. I earned it and I will enjoy it as I see fit. The important things that are good, after my body expires will be given to those who need the eyes, liver, heart etc. (The kids probably would not want them LOL) The money that is left will be for paying for the cremation and the shoe box. The balance will be divided up between the kids/grandchildren

The most valuable things I own are my home, Fenton glass, Waterford crystal , china , my jewels and my fathers knife collection. I seriously doubt my nephews would understand their worth. They likely would have a garage sale. I am seriously thinking of leaving my estate to a womans shelter.

My mom had watched 40 year grudges take place when my dad's parents died and resolved that would not happen. When she turned sixty-five she started giving us for Christmas literally everything we'd ever expressed an interest in. I got something I'd wanted when I was ten years old, lol!. Her last act before she gave up the house and went to live with my sister, was to have a family party, and in birth order, round by round every one picked something till no one wanted anything else. I've started giving my stuff to my kids and grandkids for birthdays and Christmas -- with luck I'll live long enough that there will be no more to worry about. One concern I do have is that I still have a really massive collection of things for doll making. Antique laces and velvets, antique miniature toys (for the Santas), museum quality reproductions. I'd love to find another dollmaker to appreciate them.

When Edwin died three years ago, he died intestate, we weren't married, but I got the job of finding a home for his stuff. I hadn't realized how lucky I was in his friends. The only requests I got for specific stuff was one for his "notes" on various plays by a director friend. We tried to donate the furniture to an acting company, but they didn't have space. Everyone else just wanted something small, like a book, or a little picture, or. . . I gave his mother's dishes to his maid Heidi, who came over, helped me pack them while we drank wine and remembered him, together. That happened with several other friends as well. As people called with condolences, I begged them to come get books, scripts, pictures, TVs, a new recliner, rugs, etc. After I left, there was still quite a lot, and a friend with a key kept giving the remaining stuff to charities, friends, neighbors. His six foot stack of scripts went to an acting teacher (I'd really wanted to keep them together); another picture I took with me to a past director of his in Minneapolis. And I still have way too much here, waiting on getting some of it at least to his niece and nephew. It was a hard hard time for me, but not because others were greedy. If we earn our friends, he did a wonderful job! I suppose the state got whatever was in various accounts. But his friends got the things he cared about.

In days of old, if we were reasonably well-to-do with some political clout; they buried us along with our most prized stuff... "Let the kids amass piles of their own crap... This shiny shit is mine"...

If one of your favorites happened to be a trusted and faithful servant who survived your demise; they went with you, too... Willingly, or kicking and screaming...

The mistake was entombing us with our goodies into giant advertisments... You know... Like the pyramids...

Clever people back then who lacked superstition knew there was valuable stuff in there; and had no fear of any warnings or curses posted at the Chinese-puzzle entrance...

Nowadays, you can stash your worldly treasures in any one of countless "Rent-A-Space" outlets conveniently strewn in great quantities about the globe...

All you need do know is be buried with the keys...

I'm giving all my stuff to a stripper. She has a sick kid, needs money for rent, to get her car fixed, and because her ex ran up her credit card. I don't have anyone in particular in mind but I'm sure when the time comes, those will be her circumstances, while she puts herself through college.

Good grief, aren't you too young to have thoughts like that? Wow. That's crazy.

Everything I have will be going to charities which matter to me, causes near and dear to my heart. I have no children, and no immediate family left, and the people who the government would consider my "extended" family (my uncle's stepdaughters and their families) are contemptible money-grubbers. They will get nothing from me, ever.

If I met the right man, and he had kids/grandkids, that might change somewhat, but there will always be a portion of my estate set aside for charity.

My folks told us who all gets what before they passed.
We never found the will.
But never bickered over stuff, cus we already knew.

I'll do the same.
Not a lot of loot to worry about.
But I'm sure family mementos and stuff will be prized.
So I'll let em divvy it up beforehand.
After my passing, my kids will sell or give the rest away.
It's not like my stuff is will be on Antiques Roadshow.

Had our son and his wife, and a couple close close friends come and put stickers on some things they would like when I did yearsssssss from now. Our home library will go to a literary group. The Waterford crystal will go to those who noted they loved this or that piece. Wont note what I have to pass on, but this is why we have a family lawyer. It saves the family inheritance taxes. And its also why I give things to loved ones now long before I die. IRS allows you to give specific amounts of money to family members each year, and not be penalized tax wise.

And anyone who has assets of value no matter how young they are, need to have a will so that things are given to whom they want. There are many many young people worth hundreds of thousands of dollars and more, who need a will and need to note what goes to whom. Otherwise the government gets it, or family fights over it all.

Who gets my stuff?

Most of my stuff has already been given away to those I wanted it to go to. That includes one of my properties, some portion of my income (about 1/4 of it), old photos, etc.

I wanted to give a lot away while I was still alive. I get to see them enjoy it this way and I know they have it. I have kept very little just my one properties, and some of my income. Depending on when I die part of that income I have kept may go to my children as well.

I am also sitting on a project that has taken me years of work.. That will go to them as well and even if not completed they can easy wrap it up as is, and reap plenty of benefits from it.

When I become of age to collect my SSI in the U.S if I am still kicking that will also go to my children. I like traveling light in my last chapter.

Good point.. My first will was done in my 30's as well as my purchase of my plot. I have revised my will twice. Once in my 40's and once in my 50's. The people that are due to inherit remain the same I just needed to update because of certain assets.

Everything I have (will have) has been "assigned"...except the large collection of hand crafted Christmas bulbs. I collected them, one each year; over 40 years. The collection is probably worth some real money. BUT, there isn't anyone to give it to!

At this point in my life, my family is Jewish... kids married and their households are observant.

Probably see if there is a friend who would treasure them.

All those people who buy plots before they die, ha, they are going to be sorry when immortality is available through the wonders of science. They will be stuck with lots too small to build on. Then again, with nobody dying anymore, maybe that will be all the land anyone gets due to overcrowding. I'm no real estate tycoon, rest assured. I just like to look ahead and ask the big questions.

My parents have this really "hilarious" code with their friends. Every time they go on holidays or buy themselves something great, they say to each other "SKI".
Spending the Kids' Inheritance...
Oh, how they slap their thighs, laughing...

I have embarked on a project to get rid of as much of my stuff as I can. Years of accumulating things that are stored on shelves and never used.

And its time consuming and laborious work!

Well no big mystery here I have 2 daughters I am sure they will go through my jewelry.
My son will take all my books, because he shares the love of reading with me.
Hopefully the rest of it will go to the one that want's it the most because they will appreciate it.
I have a collection of dolphins and birdhouses my freind will probably take these.
My big pieces of stone will probably be fought after. May the strongest man win.

25 years when I was searching for plots found the cost very reasonable.. So I walked around and found a nice area overlooking a river.. I asked the gentleman for 4 plots side by side and how much it would cost.. He said why are you planning on going anytime soon? I said no I hope not.. He told me he never ever had anyone buy plots so young..

I bought the plots, planted the trees I wanted and then it was time to search for a nice tombstone to go on it along with markers.. I did not want my children to have to worry about this when my time came.

If I never use them all the better, but I believed in being prepared. Today to purchase one single plot there is way more than I paid for all 4..

Chances are good they will in fact be put to use.

^^^Burn me up and throw me into the sea or down a ravine or into a cave. Once I'm gone, I'm gone, baby! Maybe you could throw in some potting mix and grow some bright red geraniums from my special fertiliser.
As for my stuff - my daughter can do what she wants with it. I won't care - trust me.

In my last moments I wanted to know where I was going.. You know strangely enough my mother felt the same way. She worried that the plot she bought was too small.... So I offered her one of mine.. However mine is in the U.S. so I went about inquiring how to transport a body there. What paperwork was needed etc.

Then I went to look at her plot.. it was indeed a lot smaller but she was not a large woman.. She was about my size 110 pounds and an inch taller than me.

She not only had me go look at it but also a few of her closest friends that assured her it was roomy.

My stuff gets equally divided between my Brother, Sister, Mother, and ex Wife. Unless I outlive them all, in which case I'll divvy it up among several Animal Rescue Shelters.

Some people are getting planted upright to take up less floor space so to speak, these days. I think I favor cremation, no kids, no one is gonna care after a few years anyhow.
