At least it's not as bad as the other 'believe it, or not' story of the day; a 113 year-old man marrying an 11 year-old girl in an arab state. Now THAT is f*cked-up! Well he probably needed someone to push his wheelchair .... he could've just offered her some candy...

| 11 yo girl gives birth...on her wedding day! Posted: 11/2/2009 6:41:37 PM | ok, first of all...WOW...11 years old!!!??? That's starting young...like he second day of puberty! And on that note: You know what's really funny? Mother Nature(God) dictates when our bodies are ready for reproduction (ie age of maturity for having babies), and then we pass laws against it...ummm, how do we pass laws against nature itself????
We're a pretty arrogant species LOL
...and I like how we use "emotional/mental maturity" as a reason for these laws...as if such a thing exists. What we're really talking about is wisdom, which is accumulated over a lifetime, but isn't measurable.
I say keep it simple--you can have kids when you are able to take care those kids...ie have a job, and your own place. I don't know too many 11 year olds with steady income and their own place, but maybe the 19 year old does?...I admit I didn't read the story--and no, I don't have any kids--and yes, if I did, I would prefer them to never ever have sex until after I'm dead...just tell me the stork brought my grandbabies--ignorance is bliss LOL

| 11 yo girl gives birth...on her wedding day! Posted: 11/14/2009 2:01:58 AM | | This is how it should be not the way it is now in America. Men and women in America are socialized to be emotionally immature. Added to that is the various emotional traumas such as molestation or rape that compound onto the emotional retardation. I know intoday's Western culture it's outrageous for a 14 year old man and woman to marry but it happens in other parts of the world because there's a level of maturity which many of us Westerners never really grasp because of how this society breeds us to have sex and relationship without responsibility. | |

Men and women in America are socialized to be emotinally immature.
I don't know that I agree with this. In most modern cultures, marriage nowadays is for people in late teens and 20's, though, of course, there are those who marry who are older. If you look throughout history and across cultures, you can see that the age which may be considered appropriate for marriage is dependent on the culture, historic era, economic-social-education levels, and so on. It isn't only American children who are expected to wait until their late teens or 20's to marry, pretty much all modern Western cultures expect that too, as do many modern Eastern cultures. I read on another site's forum that a member, 31, just married a 61 year old man she met there. She is not a scammer, but an American, however, first generation immigrant from another culture which widely accepts younger women/older men unions. She stated in the forum she had met 'the man of her dreams.' I have a hard time understanding how a 31 year old woman can picture a 61 year old man as the man of her dreams, but coming from her cultural background, it is reasonable. So, to my mind, there is no one right or wrong way to do look at this. There are too many variables about human behavior and such a wide variety of cultures and belief systems. We judge others and they judge us. Who is right? Why do we assume we are right?

| 11 yo girl gives birth...on her wedding day! Posted: 11/14/2009 6:23:41 PM | One of the things which get us in trouble in this country is, we think we are so high and mighty that we think we know what's good for everybody in the whole world. It would do us Americans good sometimes, if we'd step back and let other people decide for themselves how they want to live.
Just because she didn't know what a condom was doesn't mean she doesn't know what love is. Does anyone know what love is ?
There are more than a few American youngsters who don't know what a condom is but they do know what sex is.

| 11 yo girl gives birth...on her wedding day! Posted: 11/14/2009 6:39:04 PM | I'm 19, I have friends who lost it at 10-12 years old. They wanted it, and the 15 year old boys they did it with thought it was great.
Keep in mind this is in AMERICA. Anyways, yes its wrong that the child became pregnant. In no ways do I think its right.
But, It happened nothing will change that. All you can do is take care of your own children, educate them, worry about them, and whatever you do dont baby them. Most kids now a days stop being kids in the 5th grade at the very least. By that time, they're already well in the know about sex, and are most likely planning on doing it in the near future.
Hopefully, if you parent them the right way, this sort of thing wont happen to your child.

I couldn't imagine having a child at 11. I still played with baby dolls at that age!! Gee ... ya big baby!!!! (Just kidding!)
I can't imagine having a baby at that age however I was already doing some serious babysitting by the age of 12.
All the girls in our family were. But we were also heavily into Girl Scouts and Camp Fire Girls ... well trained in outdoor skills as well as first aid ... I already had my junior life saving certificate ... (I say that only because that takes discipline and focus) and all of us were also serious musicians.
I guess you could say we were rather mature ... but our mother was a high school teacher and my father also worked full time. We were expected and trained from very early to take on house hold responsibilities.
By age ten I was cooking for a family of 6 (when it was my turn). In our free time in Summer, we worked along side our father while he did various construction projects in our home ... eventually doubling it in size.
But I still can't imagine giving birth to a baby at that age.
I lived in rural Germany for 10 years back in the 70's & 80's and all I can say is that Europeans view different family roles differently and they don't make such big fusses about those things. Most illegitimate children are just absorbed into the family and I don't recall that anyone ever went to jail because of it.
If anything, when a situation like that would arise ... the families of the two involved usually just worked it out between them and shared the responsibility of raising the child. I can tell you one thing ... those children were loved and they knew it.
Babies do not care how old their parents are as long as they are fed and loved and kept safe.

Am I the only one who thinks this is wrong on SO many levels? No, you are not the only one who thinks this is wrong.
What the F** was he thinking? 'She's young, a virgin, and probably tight. I'm horny and can easily get over on her. If I marry her I probably won't go to jail.'
How will she look after the baby, considering she didn't even know what a condom was?? With her 24 year old momma, her 38 year old grandmother, her 52 year old great grandmother, her 66 year old great great grandmother, and other friends, relatives, and family members.
And I'm sure she knows what a condom is now.

ok, first of all...WOW...11 years old!!!??? That's starting young...like he second day of puberty! Some of us start our periods earlier than that. I for one did.
And on that note: You know what's really funny? Mother Nature(God) dictates when our bodies are ready for reproduction (ie age of maturity for having babies), and then we pass laws against it...ummm, how do we pass laws against nature itself???? I thought the same thing and said as much. But puberty has been starting earlier and earlier in these later generations. I thought starting puberty as 14 or 16 was very old, but that might have been the norm years ago. And early puberty doesn't necissarily mean the body is ready to cary a baby or have it. Very young mother (those under 13) have a host of problems carrying and delivering babies, fistulas for one. Premature babies, low birth weight, birth defects, are all the more prevelent in very young mothers. The problems for the mothers can be scarring and ailments to the reproductive organs.
And I'm glad the laws are in place because I wholeheartedly adamently against girls (or boys) under the age of about 16 marrying anyone, especially old men (men over 20 years old and especially double that and more).

Posted: 11/15/2009 8:19:31 AM | | gypsy's have different customs, very different customs, when it comes to sex incest is also quite acceptable, in certain roma cultures, the fact that she is 11 does not surprise me at all, the fact that he is not much older does
