Heh! I *already* live with enough guilt that people die because I don't do enough. Not about to add anything on to that burden, thank you very much. Beside, I jus' *know* I'd hate a life or two as a sardine.

I think the plot of this movie looks pretty interesting. It shows how easily human greed can be exploited and how easily it can backfire.

Personally, because of what I've been through in my life, at this point I don't really like being given much of anything anyway. The act of working for something is just as rewarding to me as the benefits. If I was to have a million dollars, I'd rather earn it rather than just have someone give it to me. And the fact that pushing the button would kill some random person that might or might not be somebody important to me would make the box a no brainer. No thanks.

im hoping for a serial rapist or kiddie diddler on the other end once i press that button....i would do it..i have little sympathy. we all die sometime.

Just a hypothetical plot twist here, did you stop to consider that the person who dies might be you? Which would make that million dollars completely useless.

Even though I have not seen the movie I do have an ideal of what it is about but my thing is how many people will do that. Push the button for a million dollars knowing somewhere in the world someone is gonna die because you pushed the button. Now be truely honest with yourself would you push that button knowing that and remember it can be anybody in the world so that will include family /friends and maybe your kids.

I do not see the possibility of someone dieing that I know being a problem as ~150,000 people already die each day and there are some 6,785,825,958 people living and of those I only know maybe 100 or so, thus the odds are extremely low.

The problem comes with the money.

How do you plan on spending it?

You are going to have to launder it.

Not sure about the US, but in Canada if you walk into a business an spend more than 10K in cash, they are obligated to notify the authorities.

Then when they come asking what do you say?

Is that the plot of the movie? Why can't people come up with new ideas?

That's an old Twilight Zone episode

You guys are joking right? Nope. I couldn't push the button. Does it count if you accidentally fall onto the button?

Ye Gods... could we make this a mandatory question for all POF-ers that will show up on the profiles? What a great weeding tool.

Obviously, I would desire to pass on the psychopathic who say "yes," that they would collect their money and kill another human being without a qualm.

Just un-farking real!

The premise of this movie is taken from a single episode of the Twilight Zone TV show.

Of course you see, we Americans push the button on the box every day.
We don't each get a million dollars but we do get our superior standard of living thorough the oil other countries posses.

We push the button and somebody else, in some other country who we don't even know dies. Somebody dies in Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, or somewhere else we can't even find on a map.
There isn't any moralizing about it, of course we push the button.
As long as they remain unknown and faceless to us, we don't care.

My preference would be to give a list to the keeper of the button... kinda like killing two birds with one stone.

I would also like to say kudos to all of you that wouldn't push the button... after all, my million/s would be worth zilch if every surviving person also had a million.

Similar stories have been done in Science Fiction throughout the years... so it's not a new idea.

The rewards change with the teller... immortality comes at the death of another, etc.

Personally, there's no way I could bring myself to do it... the mere KNOWING that my actions directly caused the death of another is too high a price to pay.

OK, going with it not being anyone I know, I would agree with Poster #7 - the next person to get the box wouldn't know me... so I wouldn't want to take the chance of lowering my odds of living a while longer and enjoying life with my loved ones (albeit without a million dollars) by being the next "victim".

The question is so ludicrous to any human being who values human life that it's beyond comprehension. It wouldn't matter if it was someone I loved or just some stranger; what normal human being would have such a callous disregard for life. It's beyond even comtemplating..

To anyone who thinks they could/would...what's the difference between that and just pulling the trigger of a gun and blowing someone away for their money.

Okay, blindfold yourself; then you won't have to see him/her.

I can think of a few.

With only 24 hours to make their choice, Norma and Arthur face an impossible moral dilemma. What they don't realize is that no matter what they decide, terrifying consequences will have already been set in motion. They soon discover that the ramifications of this decision are beyond their control and extend far beyond their own fortune and fate.
Sort of looks by the description I found on line ... as if it really won't matter if they chose to push the button or not.
