* White women: 81 years * African-American women: 76.9 years * White men: 76 years * African-American men: 70 years
You can download the 2008 numbers here, and they'll tell you the same thing. Black women live longer than white men:

Wonder what it says about (as an example) Jews, Asians who have less divorce, more college degrees for both male and female, the least number of people in prison, least out of wedlock births, and better health than anglos. ~Beth~

| Do you like the USA? Posted: 11/4/2009 6:05:30 PM | Elemnreich, are you retarded? Do you realize you just wrote stat's that indicate white women live 4 years, or 5% longer, and nearly 10% for white and black men. Every serious policy debate has Black caucus complaining with some justification that their constituency pays more in than they receive (indicaded by the numbers above for anyone with a tiny bit of brain function) in SS benefits.
Now longevity was not my point, rather, societal dysfunction, without even remotely assigning cause was my point. You really mangle stat's, really dopey analysis. The following are from the US Gov., office of Minority Health (i.e., not cooked right wing nut stats)
http://minorityhealth.hhs.gov/templates/content.aspx?ID=3021
What is even more mysterious, is these stat's hold up for every socio-economic level (feel free to ask what that means before you embarass yourself again). This is not an attack on anyone, rather a brief flyover of the dangers of numbers and public policy.
Net-net: You libtards are not bright emough to understand stat's, even when they come from sources you would otherwise consider friendly. Seriously if you are teaching anything except swing dancing for elementary students you're Exhibit A why kids can't read and comprehend.

Of course the USA is great. I wouldn't live anywhere else.

Ok this is the funniest thing I've seen in a while.
For examle many places in Europe. Specifically? England I guess and the reason is private citizens don't shoot eachother.
Clearly. | |

I don't like/watch Oprah. Talk about someone who is dumbing down America.
And the original question was about who loves America. Then its evolved....
You brought in race when you commented
Here is an ugly truth. remove blacks from samples of health, crime, education, almost anything and the USA immediately leads the world in every (positive) category. That doesn't mean we don't have the problem, it means the solutions should address that problem. No one knows why blacks independent of education, social strata, financial status, etc. die more often at birth, or fail in educational achievement, or commit more crime.
So as a way of answering I posed the question of what it says about (as an example) Jews, Asians who have less divorce, more college degrees for both male and female, the least number of people in prison, least out of wedlock births, and better health than Anglos. I think that community plays a big role in the lifestyle one has. And the importance on not shaming the community. Be it not doing well in school, not having children until you are older and fully able to support them yourself, or expecting the government to take care of you or family members.
As for why many or even most blacks independent of education, social strata, financial status, etc. die more often at birth, or fail in educational achievement, or commit more crime. Thomas Sowell noted in more than one of his books, that its a mix of problems. Using the victomology of slavery which 99%+ blacks have never experienced, to do the woe is me game. And the whole idea of not wanting to appear white, gets old real fast!!!
It's a overall lack of discipline on the part of the black community, as it is in the lower income white community. Children mirror what the adults in their life reflect. Those who value education, do not slack off when a child doesn't want to apply themselves. If anything one reminds the child in no uncertain terms that there are priorities, and school and homework come before fun stuff. Children who from day one, have supportive parents and community, rarely end up failing. Sure they may make mistakes, we all do. They just don't make mistakes as a lifestyle.
One need only look at how people lower their standards when it comes to dating. Lack of discipline in any area of life, rarely has a positive outcome.

Specifically? England I guess and the reason is private citizens don't shoot eachother. Clearly.
Your chances of being mugged in London are now six times greater than in New York. England's rates of assault, robbery, and burglary are far higher than America's, and 53 percent of English burglaries occur while occupants are at home, compared with 13 percent in the U.S., (((where burglars admit to fearing armed homeowners more than the police))).
In a United Nations study of crime in 18 developed nations published in July, England and Wales led the Western world's crime league, with nearly 55 crimes per 100 people.
Clearly indeed .... | |

Is that just another trite, sophomoric slur? Or did Mr. Giuliani organize a private army, or write a book about his plans to rule the world, and no one's reported it?

Sure.. your going to find some flaws... There can always be some improvement... But your dating the Girl everyone else wants.
Nothing and No One is perfect.
But we have a good thing here... and we should work on keeping it that way.... with room for improvement... especially as of late.

| Do you like the USA? Posted: 11/4/2009 11:29:06 PM | I lived in New York in the pre Giuliani period. It was a crime infested, rat hole. All the other mayors did nothing but make speeches and make excuses.
The subways had hoodlums and the trains were covered by graffiti. Abandoned, stripped cars graced the roads. You feared for your life it you traveled at night.
Rudy took the bull by the horns and cleaned up that town from top to bottom. No one else in the history of the city accomplished so much. The emergency services improved greatly under his leadership. He never backed down or caved into special interest groups.
When 9/11 hit he was everywhere at once. His team performed miracles and their bravery was legendary. He made NY a great city again.
When I visit the city these days, the whole environment is different. People are friendly and have hope. He gave that to them. He transformed the city.
I did not agree with all of his policies. For example, he is a gun control freak. His position in wanting to sue gun manufacturers for crimes committed by purchasers was insane. However, on the balance he did an amazing job.

Lastly this link provides graphs of these countries which we are advised are safe, the date they became civilized by banning guns, and the skyrocketing of murder and crime rates immediately. Example Ireland had 10 murders per year during gun ownership periods, skyrocketed to 50 after guns banned, etc.

I did no such thing. But if it makes you feel any better, I think a lot of people in the USA are stupid and ignorant, as in most countries. (Hence the election of irresponsible politicians. That was implied in my post, obviously, since politicians are elected by vast quantities of regular citizens.) But so far the positives I mentioned far outweigh the negatives. Happy now?

Lastly this link provides graphs of these countries which we are advised are safe, the date they became civilized by banning guns, and the skyrocketing of murder and crime rates immediately. Well, the handgun ban didn't work in Washington DC because people could drive 20 miles to Virginia and buy all the guns they wanted. Now, a nationwide ban on handguns, with strong enforcement, might work better.

http://dvc.org.uk/dunblane/lech1.pdf Um, you're forgetting that despite gun control legislation, gun ownership in Ireland soared during this period. Further guns were not banned in Ireland; only handguns. And this ban was very poorly enforced. The reason why murder rates are so high in Ireland is that there are so many guns.
|
| Do you like the USA? Posted: 11/5/2009 9:42:17 AM |
The reason why murder rates are so high in Ireland is that there are so many guns. And the reason why there are so many stabbings in Los Angeles is there are so many knives. And the reason there is such a problem with arson is because there are so many matches and lighters available.
PEOPLE cause murder, not guns...
|
| Do you like the USA? Posted: 11/5/2009 9:49:10 AM | | But, as gun ownership increased in Ireland, so did the murder rate. Ireland is a perfect example of why there should be more control over firearm ownership, and not just unenforced laws. | |
|
| Do you like the USA? Posted: 11/5/2009 9:56:39 AM | elmenreich at the risk of having you confused and my brain to explode, why would a reduction in guns, caused by stricter gun control, cause murders to go from 10 to 50 if guns were the problem?
