The gangs wont be affected by the new ammo laws anymore than they are affected by all the gun laws we have. Its the law abiding citizens who are affected. In message # 64 you said
But I think it's a good idea to keep track of who buys which guns, who owns which guns, who buys which ammunition and who owns which ammunition. Of course, such a plan has to be implemented on a nationwide basis.
Yet you don't say how do we actually stop all the illegal gun/ammo use by gangs and criminals. So again its the law abiding citizens who are affected.

And the reason I asked if you were a teacher, was because you seem to lack knowledge of the founding fathers and the various founding documents of this country.

Yes, this is a dating website, but quite frankly, we're never going to date.

Elmreich, it seems that with your attitude and inability to be unoffensive, your dating career will only include Rosey or a lost sheep.

We have had a horrific violent shooting spree today at Fort Hood, Texas, the major armored training site for the United States Army.

That's what happens when you give guns to soldiers! Now we need to pass some gun control legislation for everyone in the military.

(for anyone who has not been paying attention to my posts, this is strictly sarcasm.)

Three things off subject:

1. The only thing wrong with my attitude is that I disagree with you. Disagreeing with people isn't against the rules.
2. Stop emailing me.
3. For someone who complains about me changing the subject, you change the subject a lot.

Back on topic, what we've basically seen from the pro-gun people here is misinformation, which is trolling. All I've really done is point out this misinformation, such as the increase in the murder rate in Ireland supposedly coming from gun-control legislation. That idea is stupid and wrong.

What I like about America is we have the freedom to be rude, belligerent, insulting to those with opposing viewpoints, and disagreeable while disagreeing. And we can manifest all of this obnoxious behavior in a public forum and the government will not step in and stop us.

Not so in countries where they have taken over control of the corporations, the newspapers, the courts, the police, the health care system, the educational system, and the entire media distribution system and the guns.

Use and enjoy that freedom to be a jerk to the max NOW, because it is fast being legislated away and will soon be only a pleasant memory.

No, Beth, please! We've seen the poster demonstrate his knowledge of the First Amendment. As I recall, he said its guarantee of freedom of speech--at least speech he didn't happen to agree with--was "wrong" and "stupid." (I notice those two words are still staples of his vocabulary.) And don't a lot of Americans, including our President himself, seem to agree? He told us even more about his views on free speech when he claimed the government should have prevented a health insurer from mailing its clients a letter that argued against Sen. Baucus' proposed health care bill. He even cited a Supreme Court decision to support his claim.

The only problem was that this decision had nothing to do with commercial free speech--a part of the Court's First Amendment jurisprudence he seems unfamiliar with. Instead, it was about a state law on abortion counseling, and it was barely even relevant to his claim, let alone any sort of legal authority for it. But I'm sure this was just an oversight, and that he knows all about our founding documents. Can anyone doubt that with people like William Ayers advising faculty in education departments, teachers these days fully understand and respect those documents? I wouldn't doubt that, like Mr. Ayers, many of them even have some novel ideas about how the sheets they're written on should be used.

And your point is? I have nothing against public schools, only federally mandated control over what is taught.

For your information, I graduated with honors from the Los Angeles Public School system where I got a top notch education, which included in depth training on the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence. We were required to know and understand the concept of states' rights, and the separation of powers in the federal government. We also were taught that "those who refuse to learn from history are condemned to repeat it".

What's your excuse?

"That's not necessarily true. There are statistical techniques--the t-test, for example--designed for much smaller samples than this one. There's a lot more to making an accurate prediction about a whole population than just sample size."

I am very familiar with t-tests usage ... and I reiterate that the stated sample was too small a sample size for the population to be assured that it is representative of the population as a whole.

I am mind boggled that you would make such an unsupported and totally racist remark.

Wanted to address this part of your post. Its the total control by the government of all the things you mention that should concern all patriots. While we have had public schools since the mid 1800's most were locally controlled and funded and fit the needs of the community.

It was in 1979 that Jimmy Carter gave us the white elephant we call the Department of Education. And then G W Bush made it worse with No Child Left Behind as if one size fits all. Education needs to be a local issue. Thankfully we are a homeschooling family.

One thing people need to remember, is that when you use something the government provides, the government calls the shots.

I thank you, sir, for that useful information. I seem to learn new things about the U.S. every day. I think that everyone--now that we know about these new public schools--should make it a point to know who is teaching in them, and what they're teaching. After all, I'm sure we homeowners do a lot to support these public schools with our property taxes, and I'd think we also have an social investment in the students they graduate. We wouldn't want anyone, under the guise of teaching them, to indoctrinate them to hate this country, disrespect its laws, side with its enemies, or anything destructive like that, would we?

I prefer Errol Morris's version of that quote: "Those who refuse to learn from history are condemned to repeat it without a bitter sense of irony."

Like it or not, the Education and Secondary Education Act is part of the American educational mosaic. If you don't like it, move to Russia.

Having seen you pretend to know the law about carrying concealed weapons, and then make very clear you do not, I have to doubt your reiterated statement. Can you show us why Gallup was wrong, and you are right?

"Someone has to buy that ammo. It's not like tons of illegal bullets are coming into the United States from Mexico "

On the one hand if I owned a gun and ammo I would like a requirement for education and the responsible ownership that comes with the gun and ammo being legally identified as mine. I don't see this as any different than being required to earn a license to drive a car.

However, I disagree with the idea that there are not tons of illegal guns and ammo coming in from central and south american gangs. I've seen way too many news reports showing all of the confiscated weapons and ammo that is being illegally trafficed.

Excuse me-- did you address that remark to someone in particular? And if so, who?

As to your comment about that law, Congress can repeal anything it's enacted. And in the case of laws regarding public education, I hope it does. I also favor eliminating the Department of Education. It's a complete waste of money, and it is nothing but Mr. Carter's sop--delayed just long enough to make the quid pro quo look respectable--to the teachers' unions for contributing so much to his unfortunate election.

On the contrary, I went and got a copy of the law, which you confirmed I correctly copied and you could not provide a single instance of your interpretation of the law being accurate.

The Education and Secondary Education Act dates back to 1965. Not to the creation of the United States of America. And the Tenth Amendment states that 'The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people', which most Constitutionalists see as a states right issue.

Thanks ZenBeth! I think I'll take that as a vote on the original motion. Wait, what was the question again???

1. The only thing wrong with my attitude is that I disagree with you.

Since, as you say, it's all right to disagree with people, I disagree with your statement. The attitude you're showing here is as personal and unpleasant as it was before.

I take it you regard information that doesn't agree with your own as "misinformation." I doubt your authorities are as infallible as you'd have us believe.

That's a wonderfully American attitude. There ARE other options! In my family we just turned to homeschooling so our children and grandchildren do not have to be subjected to anti-Christian and anti-American ideology. My granddaughter just graduated with honors with a dual high school diploma and an AA degree after being homeschooled for 12 years and was accepted into the nursing program at the University of Washington on the first try. Go Huskies! Kudos to my daughter for being a great teacher!

I like the fact that I can come in here and tell everyone to figure out how to use the friggin quote function. It's just like it says on the side os the quote box. This ..
on one side of what you want to quote and this
on the other end. You have like 10 min to edit if it doesn't work out.

Now do it.

Extra points to those who are quoting the posters name, makes it a much nicer read.
