| from one dater to another: 'show me your drivers license, please' Posted: 11/7/2009 10:30:37 AM | so my question is, what are some reasonable ways to verify that people are who they say they are, and what aren't? and on a side note, what lengths have people you've dated gone to to check you out?
People whom you meet offline can also present false identities, give wrong info's about them etc.. they can do it in the beginning, but it takes at least a few meetings or a bit of investigation to learn more..

| from one dater to another: 'show me your drivers license, please' Posted: 11/7/2009 6:56:29 PM | | I have willing shown my identity to a few woman who had been lied to repeatedly, I do it as full disclosure because I don’t have anything to hide. I however don’t show them my drivers license, I show them my pistol permit. It shows my age, height, weight, picture and finger prints, it also scares the stalkers away! The best defense is a good offense some times! It also shows I'm not a convicted felon. | |

| from one dater to another: 'show me your drivers license, please' Posted: 11/9/2009 12:51:25 AM | I asked to see a girl's drivers license a long time ago under the pretense of 'bad license pics', but I really forgot her name. DOH! Seeing our activities at the time, short term memory loss was an issue lol. When I was 21 I asked to see another girl's cause I thought she was younger than what she was telling me.
I've never had a woman ask me for mine but I don't think it would be a big deal. Unless she was obviously bat **** crazy lol.

Right on! People often are far more decieving in real life, because they have not only your information, they have your body language and other stuff to gauge the in-the-moment lies by. Yup.

| from one dater to another: 'show me your drivers license, please' Posted: 11/9/2009 6:54:10 PM | This post is making me laugh because I realize how much I have changed in the time I've been here. I've gone from trying to be careful by googling one of the first people I met...to being friends with someone for over a year and not knowing his last name! Does it count that I finally know it because I saw it on his license...his FISHING LICENSE!
Now that is funny...........
With all that has been written.......I'm amazed that people actual meet through dating sites......

Usually just the offer of these is enough to set them at ease. I don't have a photo on my carry permit but the two together work and I am not afraid of showing them, just not the address at first.

| from one dater to another: 'show me your drivers license, please' Posted: 11/12/2009 10:56:41 AM | | Never had it happen to me but I will say if a female ask me for my lic or any ID she better be ready to produce hers right after she ask me. But as far as doing a search on me then hey she can spend all the money she wants to find out who I am I have nothing to hid. But I tell you what I will not spend the money to do a search for her and we are only have a frist time date or meeting to see if someone lied about what they look like. | |

| from one dater to another: 'show me your drivers license, please' Posted: 11/12/2009 11:27:08 AM | Internet dating is about SAFETY first. I don't ask for a driver's license because I feel that is an invasion of privacy. But if I am getting into his car, I ask if he minds if I make a quick "check-in" call first. I pull out my cellphone, call one of my friends and provide them with info (where I am, who I am with, and HIS phone number). Granted if he really wants to cause me bodily harm, a call may not stop him, but it does put him on notice.
Not putting oneself in harm's way in the first place is the best plan, however.

| from one dater to another: 'show me your drivers license, please' Posted: 11/12/2009 2:02:30 PM | Reverse phone number lets you know the address of the person and name the phone is in, also other members who live in the house and relatives are easy to find out.
There is a web site you can get almost anything on them from divorce records, child support, DMV..You name it. Name and city is all you need, in some cases a county is helpful.
Your gut is the best to go with, if it feels "off" it probably is.

| from one dater to another: 'show me your drivers license, please' Posted: 11/12/2009 8:10:03 PM | | The easiest solution to this and all other problems of Internet dating is to just not do it. Date people you meet through friends and family or some other regular routine or activity (like school, churches, clubs, even work if not working in close proximity.) Not perfect, but definitely a head start in the credibility and security department. | |

If you're not willing to put your d*ck in a meat grinder and her hand on the crank you shouldn't be dating her anyway.
I'm kidding. You should wait until the second date to do that.

why not add court certified divorce decrees, baptismal certificates & death certificates to the list?
I had a bit of a hassle when I was getting married. Even though I am a third generation american and was born and raised here, my baptismal cert is in polish. The priest had to send it to someone to be translated before he would sign off on marrying us in the church.

Curious to why you would think I'm not authentic. Care to elaborate? Come clean about what? You really confused me there. I said I would give my info up. I think safety is job one even in dating lol. I would hope and expect someone coming out to meet me at least told someone else where she was going and with who.
Bat s*** crazy would be if she was wearing a boot on her head as a hat. I was kinda joking there...

| from one dater to another: 'show me your drivers license, please' Posted: 11/13/2009 1:41:45 PM | msg 9&11 There is a problem with this paper trail. If you would do me there are so many of me you would need more specific information. Besides that I have things in my paper trail that don't even belong to me. There is medical information that is not mine!!! I just happend to catch this after paying on a collection bill that seemed to never end. This has happend to me more than one time.
I have nothing to hide and due to my proffession I have a FBI file on me. I hope that does not get filled with mis information becasue I can not get my name cleared of the other medical incorrect information. I can not imagine trying to get that done with the FBI.

| from one dater to another: 'show me your drivers license, please' Posted: 11/13/2009 1:50:02 PM | I've considered asking to see a driver's license. So many guys lie about their age. And, on occasion, I've gone off with someone I don't know all that well and have considered calling a friend and giving them the name & license number with the instructions, "If you haven't heard from me by midnight, call the cops." But none of those things have happened. They're just thoughts.
I don't know what anyone has done to check me out. I went out twice with a guy who kept hiring private detectives to check out his son's online "girlfriends."
