Absoultly! If Hollyfield can get through the rounds with out being knocked out then the chances are he will.
evander holyfield and david haye are poles apart when it comes to class and fighting..holyfield is one of the greatest boxers of all time..but i do hope david haye pulls it off and proves me wrong.but somehow i dont think he will...

| Can Haye Win ? Posted: 11/6/2009 7:15:11 AM | | Of course Haye can win. I can also win the lottery, and both are just as likely to happen. Haye is going to do well for the first couple of rounds, get overconfident, and walk right into one of those sledgehammers that Valuev calls fists. At least, that's what I hope happens. | |

Also isn't Haye going up a weight division for this fight? No, he vacated the Cruiserweight titles because he couldn't make the weight. He has already fought at Heavyweight in his last fight. He stopped a guy in 5 rounds, the same guy fought Valuev, but it took him 11 rounds to stop him.
Look past Valuev's size and remember that it aint the dog in the fight but the fight in the dog.

evander holyfield and david haye are poles apart when it comes to class and fighting..holyfield is one of the greatest boxers of all time I agree Chopper. Holyfield had a problem at Cruiserweight. Basically no tough fights, so he stepped up to heavyweight but rarely above 15 and a half stone. Haye has attributes to beat Valuev, but he doesn’t have the heart that Holyfield has. He was a guy he regularly was outweighed in the ring, but brought a great physique and mentality to the ring. Haye needs that to win this fight!

| Can Haye Win ? Posted: 11/7/2009 1:22:52 AM | Does anyone know what channels the fights being shown on today?

|
| Can Haye Win ? Posted: 11/7/2009 3:32:07 AM | | im gonna listen to it on radio tonight.. then watch it on youtube tomorrow..i wonder if there is anyone good fighting on the undercard..? | |
|
| Can Haye Win ? Posted: 11/7/2009 9:40:21 AM | I would take speed and power over height and reach.
He can beat him, but it'll need to be a tactical win I think.
|
| Can Haye Win ? Posted: 11/7/2009 2:57:52 PM | | well he won lol but the fight was dire, seen more action in a post office que at dinner time and not kidding either, only about 15 punches thrown by both fighters in every round, it did warm up in the last one but thats when the russian almost went down through boredom lol congrats david haye but tbh dont think you will have the title long. | |
|
| Can Haye Win ? Posted: 11/8/2009 5:09:32 AM | | well..i got it wrong..and im glad i did..its good to have a real brit heavywight champion of the world..the heavyweight division is quite weak at the moment as well..so david haye should have no problems keeping his crown..for a while anyway.. | |
|
| Can Haye Win ? Posted: 11/8/2009 11:09:05 AM | haye fought with his head
I'm not much of a boxing fan, but isn't that against the rules?

| Can Haye Win ? Posted: 11/8/2009 1:11:39 PM | He won & won with a broken hand,
well now heavy weight divison / title will maybe now get interesting !
|
| Can Haye Win ? Posted: 11/8/2009 2:15:50 PM | It sadly wasn't a very exciting fight to watch after all the hype the last couple of weeks.
But David Haye deserved the victory as he always looked to go forward and landed some good punches especially in the last round when The giant Russian almost went down.
Its great to have a British heavyweight champion of the world again.
I hope this will wake up our friends across the Atlantic to produce some genuine challengers
This division has been quiet for far too long now and needs some new heroes.

| Can Haye Win ? Posted: 11/8/2009 4:52:42 PM | I’m gonna put a tenner on David Haye to win! On Points!
Well Done David, he had a plan and stuck to it, even more remarkable if he did break his hand in round 2 of the head of Valuev! He climbed a mountain to win it, now he must remained focused and realise how easy it is to lose it. Lennox lewis in my opinion was in skill and ability far beyond any heavyweights of his generation, and he slipped up by beleiving how good he was. David should keep this in mind, he is a talented Cruiserweight who can hold his own in the heavyweight division…and can reign for a while if focused!
|
| Can Haye Win ? It seems he did lol Posted: 11/8/2009 4:56:22 PM | It seems if you hit a meat head in the head you break your hand but win on points............... way to go
Brains will always win over Brawn it seems

| Can Haye Win ? Posted: 11/8/2009 5:06:40 PM | Crap contest, and I hope no Martians were watching.
Er.......so this is 'boxing', right?......so why is that guy not trying to box the other one......ok...so it's a contest of playing to your strengths, yes......so why isn't that guy on the running track....you don't have races in which you run backwards??...but he's a natural!.....(another Kronenburg, please)........so, he won that round, and didn't land a punch?.....ok.........(nice tits, luv!)..............that game we watched on the internet earlier...yes, Oldham versus Leeds........the team who attacked the most won it easily, right.......that game of rugby league we watched at the same time.......England versus...? somebody in black.....New Zealand, yeah, New Zealand ...ugly fcukers, weren't they! ha ha.....well, England attacked the most , and won the game, right?....so why did that guy who never took a forward step get awarded the contest?......
Many thanks to Paula for putting up with me throughout a very long night xx

| Can Haye Win ? Posted: 11/8/2009 7:00:56 PM | | i agree with gary on this one..ok.. he was fighting a big giant of a man with a very long reach..and he used his speed and agility to dance away from his punches and stay out of his way..but he done it for 12 rounds non stop..boxing is about fighting..not running..there was only about 20 punches that landed throughout the whole contest..i hope there isnt a fecking rematch..i wont be watching it anyway..ill watch paint dry instead..more exciting.. | |
|
| Can Haye Win ? Posted: 11/8/2009 11:18:07 PM | | That fight i didn't watch i listened to it on the radio and believe me the commentary didn't make it sound anymore exciting. I think if mr haye fought mr klitscho it would be another extremely dull contest, not one worth paying £15 to watch anyway. | |

| Can Haye Win ? Posted: 11/9/2009 6:29:09 AM | Cmon guys be fair…this guy is 22 stone and if you stand in front of him and go toe to toe, you’ll be waking up in hospital. Just like football you have to have tactics, sometimes its not pretty, but you have to get the result. Difference for me is if Haye gets a shot at a Klitchko he will fancy his chances and be more than happy to trade, after all they are only 3 inches and 2 stone heavier! Valuev has little talent but you can’t dismiss him for that, you adapt to the circumstances and Haye adapted well with a broken hand…so credit where its due! | |
|
| Can Haye Win ? Posted: 11/9/2009 11:09:24 AM | | Totally different to the fight between Hay and Valuev. This should be a scrap, toe to toe, last man standing event. I wouldn’t look at Cotto being more established in the division as a huge plus. Pacquiau is a strong fighter and not out his depth. Close to call though…just don’t blink! | |
|
| Can Haye Win ? Posted: 11/9/2009 9:35:08 PM | I didn't post on this thread before the fight but if I did I would of said that Haye couldn't win because he didn't have the stamina or the brains to win and Valuev would win on points, but by being boring and playing it safe he won. Boxing is not entertainment in the sense that Haye or Valuev are out there to put on a show but to contest a world championship and that should off and was Haye's sole ambition and deserves credit for that. Is Haye the best? No, he needs to contest and retain the title and add to it with Klitschko belt. If England win the World cup by playing defensively and securing 0-0 draws and progressing through penalties would anyone care? Is getting the result more important than the means? | |

Is getting the result more important than the means?
in a way..yes..but this is boxing..the object of the sport is to fight..two combatants fighting each other fair and square..queensbury rules...not run around the ring playing pit a pat..if that fight would of been staged in the usa..it could easily of been stopped as a no contest..anyway..its very rare that we see a boxing match of that poor quality...lets just hope it was a one off match and that it doesnt set a new standard to all the new up and coming pretty boy boxers who enjoy the glamour and money..but dont wanna fight for it...
|
| Can Haye Win ? Posted: 11/10/2009 5:33:24 AM | Chopper, how may times has Haye delivered a performance that you could say was boring or defensive. He normally goes for the win 20 knock out in 22 fights says that. This was a needs must performance thats all! Valuev on the other hand has delivered more than one boring fight, simply because he is a freak in size and is a really awkward customer. Hitting him is not enough to get rid of him. | |
|
| Can Haye Win ? Posted: 11/10/2009 6:21:59 AM | yes he can and yes he did!!! | |
