OP I was going to ask if you were Catholic but then I read your profile and I understood where your question comes from.

It's OK for women to express themselves sexually - it's not just the domain of men to act in a sexual way or to claim their sexuality. It might make your life with women easier if you stop thinking about women as 'good' or 'bad', as 'slut' or 'good girl'. Just like men we have urges and preferences and sometimes we want to have sex and that's OK.

I didn't mean slutty in a negative sense, moreso sexually carefree, open, uninhibited.

uninhibited behavior can add so much to a relationship. More women need to let go and stop being concerned with what will be thought of her. there is a time to be a slut and nothing less just as long as it doesn`t define who you are.

no I dont think this is what the op is talking about....and she was not talking about being promiscuous ...she was talking about making a public statement about your sexuality

going out dressed in a way that says ..I am a sexual being ...lust if you want ...im going to flaunt my sexuality openly ...I may take it home and bestow it on just my man ...but I am going to show that I love my sexual side ..im going to flirt and tease because it makes me feel my worth as a sexual being ...If men flirt back and notice me lust after me ..then that just and only confirms my worth as a sex object ... it is a public role play just for the purpose of making people realize that I can be a complete person ..that I can rebel from social stigma ...that I believe that sex is good and I control my sexual side ...not others

yes it is a rebellion statement ..that says ...I am complete person dont tell me how and when to show my sexual side

Once my female friend come over, dressed like a slut...Mmmm..
Almost didn't make it to the bed..
It was great, because she doesn't usually dress like that.
Guess she just wanted to seduce me. It worked!

Sometimes even crazy republicans rebel!! Like that Michelle Bachmann chick, advocating that the citizenry take up arms to "kill" health care reform. Talk about a clear and present danger!
Sex, in any of its myriad forms, is very strong drive, sometimes even stronger than self-preservation, imho. The GOP, at least the last administration, used to appeal to our self-preservation drives to bump their election returns by mentioning the imminence of another terrorist attack. When is somebody gonna start appealing to our sex drives to get elected? Hillary just didn't do for me. And while my eyebrows jumped a little the first time I saw Sarah Palin, the boner died when she opened her mouth. Lol Bill Clinton drew a large percentage of the female vote, and Obama fared well there, too. I wanna vote for a good-lookin', sexy lady for some big office!! Hey, ya know, maybe the ballots for any candidate should have something to show degrees of support, like the pof pic rating system, 1 through 10. Lol
I usually end up agreeing with DeerDog, OP, and this is no exception. Much as the strange societal rules in the US seem to repress sexual expression, the sexuality of women will definitely out, somehow, some where, and I for it whenever it pops up. lol

Actually, anybody thinking she is everybody's slut is likely leaving out the "everyone but mine" part of that statement.

Exactly, but not because of what you think. It's because they find it obnoxious, plain disgusting... So everybody's slut but mine is a good thing. They can have her....It's not a matter of "desire", it's a matter of "disgust"

What double standards are you talking about ? We started with slutty looking/acting women, and you pulled it to "double standards.

I don't see "MEN" showing their asses on their profile pics. I don't see MEN dancing butt naked, kissing each other in public to get attention. Where is the "double standards" you're talking about ?

you got it arsenic

a lot of them also have boyfriends, and don't really like the men who frequent the clubs. All of them, I promise you, are thinking about one thing...$$$$$$$$$$$. That goes for the little club on a country road to Pro Bunnies. That's all they care about as far as men from the clubs go.

So guys, don't get your hopes up. She's not wearing those ears & tail thinking about how hot you are. She's wondering how much bank you plan to tuck into her costume.

Hate to bust illiusions....but...just sayin'

Then there are a lot of more appropriate words to use than 'slutty' - suggestively, provocatively... none of those have the negative connotations of 'slutty'. I'd be upset if I dressed provocatively and someone said I looked slutty - it's insulting. Slutty is a negative word.

suggestive and provocative just doesn't have the connotations I was going for. "feeling suggestive, good?" That sounds like a good snooze fest. yawn.

I'm a he, not a she, but otherwise, spot on. There's a difference between acting slutty and being a slut.

As for it being a negative word without exception, I don't agree. There was the book the "Ethical Slut" which came out a few years back, which taught that taking charge of your sexuality doesn't make you an immoral person.

I think women who dress and act to flaunt what they got are extremely sexy. Confidence works both ways ladies. Men find it attractive as well.

It's not negative to some women. They understand it to mean My slut and not A slut. For most it's a very bad word to call someone though.

It is very likely I could not tolerate being around them if they were this uptight about it. Do not get me wrong there are some very offensive words but this is not one of them. There are also far worse words you can use to refer to a woman in the negative. *** I purposely do not use such words!*** Note my earlier post with an explanation that both men and woman are referred to as sluts and often without the negative connotation which has been expressed here. In fact it is used favorably, note that a whore is a prostitute not a slut. Yes, while I do not use prostitutes I do support them being legal and a protected class of people! Sorry I can explain how I do not share your "moral" views. It is also very likely you and I also simply do not share views on having more than one sex partner either, so it is easy to understand how you may find a traditional moral definition acceptable.

It's not like I do not know why I would have issues with these folks views. The negative connotation surrounding this particular word is based or defined by a code of moral conduct which I do not accept as valid nor do I approve of the historical record which is often steeped in hypocrisy and often championed by major hypocrites! To me hypocrisy is possibly one of the biggest problems or true evils in the world. Guess it really depends on your view of right and wrong!

P.S. I do not typically refer to people I do not know as sluts as I understand there are a large number of people who do not agree with my views either. However it is possible me or those I know may and have used the term in speaking about each other even in mixed company. If that offends someone it would be their issue at that point not ours.

P.S. I also tend to use whore incorrectly to refer to politicians. This I feel is a real insult to prostitutes.

^^^ really? thats not being uptight..it's a NEGATIVE connotation..you can be sexually liberal without sleeping around. Slut to me..implies WHORE (one who sleeps with many) if youre comfortable with being called that then kudos to you..otherwise I agree ,its degrading.

Um, btw, when you talk about women in clubs... Please folk, distinguish b/t strip joints w/women stripping for money and normal "clubs" or "bars" where men and women go to have fun, dance, drink, etc...

Strip joints - those women are not doing it for pleasure or because they like you. They hug the pole for tips.

Clubs and bars...totally different scenario.

I enjoy being looked at when I dress a little slutty. Yes, it turns me on. It's fun. I don't dress that way to go to Walmart though. Ok in a bar, not ok at the grocery. It's a "look"...

Oh, or going to a boyfriend's house, or a party...those are other fun places it's fun to dress a little slutty. (or his work, if he works in a place where you can get away with pushing the boundaries, but that's rare).

Sometimes when I go out to a bar, I want to feel ALL female. I don't want to be looked at for my brain, or my organization skills, or my parenting skills. I just want to feel and not think. I want to know myself as a sexual being and part of that comes from being admired by males. Then I will go home to my boyfriend and let it all loose! :)

Does that sorta make sense?

Shouldn't be termed "slutty" (unless that turns ya ladies on), but should be called "sexually open and confident".

I think feeling slutty, in either gender, is fine, as part of a well-balanced spiritual diet-! If one is making God or some higher way of thinking and feeling that falls outside of materiality a priority, feeling slutty is a rather trivial part of the equation, but sure is a lot of fun, indulged in occasionally-!

Let's remember that there is a fine line between feeling "slutty" and "sexy". Just because a girl feels good, and sexy and wants to dance or let her feminine side go, or dress in a sexy way, doesnt mean she is a slut. However, there just might be times when that "inner" person DOES want to be slutty... and so what? Many men are slutty too.... they just call it something else. So why is it ok for a man to be slutty & not a woman? But i think that there may be times a woman does feel slutty, and so what? Let her.
