This is only my fourth meet and it is still nerve wracking but most people feel the same at first. There are always going to be people there you can talk to. The meet is exclusive to POF people until 7 so everyone who is there before then is from this site. | |

I think I'll maybe give it a go. I went to the recent one in Madness, just for a couple of hours later on and I was on my own so felt like a bit of an eejit to be honest although I could see that everyone was having fun (if some were a little sozzled from the afternoon start). I'll bring a mate this time.

My daughter has persuaded me to come along to the night out. I must ask though - will there be enough room for us all in the downstairs bit? Lol. I guess if we all get there early enough, then we'll be able to grab a pew.

Posted: 11/24/2009 1:41:16 AM | Hi everyone, great to see so many people signed up for this meet, just proves Madness seems to be the most popular venue with the fish!
Right, haven't been online for a while so guess I should start answering some of the questions posted...here goes!
To all the new fish who have posted that this will be your first meet please try not to be too shy on the night. Myself and Kitty will do our best to introduce you to people for you to sit or stand with until you feel comfortable to chat to others. We aren't 'matchmakers' as some people at previous meets have thought, we can point you in the right direction but you have to take some responsibility for yourself and try to engage in conversation with people, the fish don't bite (at least not so far) even the sharks are friendly enough!  
The Etap is a great hotel...cheap, cheerful and clean, there is security at the door for those going back late, especially if you are on your own. Better still, if there are some girls going on their own or some guys you could post to see if anyone wants to share the room with you to make it an even cheaper night. Breakfast as Bonnie has said is continental and you have to book that separately, plus you will need some form of ID with you on the night like a drivers licence or passport when paying for the room. There are various pubs and cafes around Glasgow where you can get a full cooked breakfast also.
The meet isn't exclusive to POF at any time of the day or night so myself and Kitty will have illuminious wristbands for people to wear so that you can easily identify the other fish and of course there will be the mardis gras beads to pick up when you arrive, and if you get there early enough then there should be enough room for all. Although there are over 200 signed up that doesn't mean everyone will come, we normally expect around half to turn up on the night. Madness doesn't normally get overly busy until the pubs close so if everyone is there by at least 9pm then they should have a great night, or you could come along at 4pm for the entertainment and take it easy with the  until later.
Myself and Kitty will be at the door between 4pm and 5pm and then again from 7pm till 8pm to meet and greet people but outwith these times you will find us mingling with the fish and welcoming the new people. It's too long a day to stand at the door from 4pm....we want to enjoy ourselves also
And finally to Jim (illfindyou99) really sorry to hear you were at the last madness meet and felt like a out of water (excuse the pun) if you don't catch the hosts at the door then make yourself known to us and we can introduce you to people, you can't miss us | |
