This could be a learned behaviour, either from being treated poorly, or just plain lack of interest.
On the other hand I have been accused of being mean in such cases of:
Sandwich burglary - if you leave it for more than five minutes, chances are I was hungrier.
Blunt honesty - If I think your being unreasonable, I will let you know. I suppose the "nice" thing to do would be I know you had a hard day, but......could not take it out on me.
Also some peoples personalities just dont click. whatever they want to happen, just goes bad and turns into an disagreement.
They say there's no bad dogs. well I think ppl are the same way. Just avoid those you dont get along with. Life is far too short to worry about who to hate. | |

Those who have been given means to take advantage of those around them. From those who learned they don;t have to be nice or polite or etc because they look good and get what they want. To those who have learned they can elevate themselves at least for a time by putting someone elsedown.
Ultimately the answer lies with you and how much power/authority you give them to act that way around you. | |

I find it hard to believe anyone is mean by nature.
I think said poster is more then likely right. I prefer to believe people are not by nature bad or mean or evil, although hollywood movies make it more fun to believe so. However people ARE lazy by nature and by lazy I am not neccesarily discussing physical definitions.
People go for what is easiest for them more often then not. If it's easier to play a sport then to think about physics then they will play the sport. If it's easier to think about physics then play the sport they will think about physics. There are of course exceptions to all rules and so there are people who will do the opposite because they want the challenge. However for the discussion of nature and meaness the exceptions aren't what we are talking about.
It is easier to be mean and dismissive and hurtful then it is to not be. For example it is harder to say hello to a stranger, then it is to ignore a stranger. So it is easier for the stranger to hurt you or be mean by ignoring you when you say hello then it was for them to be nice and acknowlege you and change from whatever they were doing. This example expands to all levels of interaction. It's easier to be part of the crowd then to go against it ETC. So though people are not by nature mean they are often lazy and by concequence shallow and mean however as I said before this isn't limited to those who are attractive. | |
