| eHarmony...STAY AWAY FROM THIS SITE!!! Posted: 6/20/2006 7:23:38 PM | Well, here I am...yet another victim! But my story is a little different. I had tons of matches. I am not christian. I am wiccan. I got alot of christian men. They ALL said they loved Jesus...yadayadayada. I was matched with a native american who was into native american spirituality...very good. He never wrote. I got hooked up with two truck drivers looking for a "bookkeeper" and house mouse. But the best one was the guy who was divorced yet was still dealing with his ex girlfriend he had off and on for about twenty years. Oh, he was also involved with bailing out her son who got arrested for having her gun and drugs with him...hmmmmm. I can't tell you what all I had to do to get rid of that one!
They do have a process to close your account now on the site. I had to do it twice to get it to work....but the jury's not back yet on that one.
I do love POF. You're all wonderful nuts.

| eHarmony...STAY AWAY FROM THIS SITE!!! Posted: 6/20/2006 9:00:19 PM | | Actually, I'm clearing this message, since I'm not 100% certain that I'm thinking about Eharmony and I can't find any emails to back up what i said anymore :) | |

| eHarmony...STAY AWAY FROM THIS SITE!!! Posted: 6/21/2006 5:38:04 PM | | yeah, in general the pay sites are a waste. I got on yahoo personals for 6 months, and didn't meet anyone off of it. This site, okcupid.com, and webdate.com are the only sites I even bother with now days... | |
|
| eHarmony...STAY AWAY FROM THIS SITE!!! Posted: 6/21/2006 6:01:23 PM | I agree, had the SAME experience, even went so far as to write them via snail mail, no response. And there unique approach is a ruse just so you spend more time on their site and spend more dough.

| eHarmony...STAY AWAY FROM THIS SITE!!! Posted: 6/22/2006 9:45:01 PM | I did the free profile thing and they tried to bait me into actually signing up so I could corrispond with the so-called "matches" that they had found. But right from the get go the price thing was the first indicator of trouble. They claim they can match you perfectly. That they are huge and have a massive data base for finding that "Perfect" compatability someone etc. They then enumerate their payment plans. Well the most obvious question in my mind was simply this, IF you are the best dating site out there with this "Foolproof" 29 dimension system for matching people up, why would you have anything more than a month plan? I mean isn't it implicit that they will be able to hook you up from their massive membership base with the perfect someone right off the bat? So why would you need a 3, 6, 9 month or a year plan? The really amusing thing is, I still get messages every now and then in my spam filter from them. They have found another perfect match. If I do not go to the site after such a message I will hear from them in about 2 more months. But if I go take a peek ( did this twice ) they immediately send me a 3 month discount special, valid only for 3 days if I act right now! I feel like I am in a Ginsu Knife commercial minus any kool products ( but WAIT, NOW how much would you pay? ). Anyway, e-harmony is a joke and I am tickled that I never wasted any money with them! I like PoF and even though I am hunting I have a good feeling about many of the people I have met here. In time, who knows? I could be writing a testimonial. ( Shhhhhhhhhh,... it could happen! Hahahaha ) Take care folks!

| eHarmony...STAY AWAY FROM THIS SITE!!! Posted: 6/23/2006 12:44:01 PM | | I have never used that site, but I had a very similar experience with Yahoo personals. They are still sending me emails, and I canceled my trial membership after only being shown 6 matches, and then not hearing back from them. It was really sad. Luckily for me my credit card had to be cancelled because it was stolen so they weren't able to get a penny out of me. But they sure are trying and I have sent them several (15) cancellation emails. It is getting very old, but thanks for the warning. | |

| eHarmony...STAY AWAY FROM THIS SITE!!! Posted: 6/23/2006 8:27:25 PM | Majik721, I hope you don't mind, but, since you do have an online store, well, is it common when you buy something on the internet for the online store to put a double pending transaction on your debit card account, ie; you purchase an item for $100, and instead of just the $100 amount pending on your account, they put 2 $100 pending transaction on your account, so that you have a shortage of $100 that is available in one's checking account?? and btw, eHarmony would not allow me to be matched because I've been divorced 3 times thank you | |

I've never seen that and can't imagine a valid reason for it happening. Certainly sounds like a major screw up ... contact your bank or credit card complany asap. Good Luck. Reign,

| eHarmony...STAY AWAY FROM THIS SITE!!! Posted: 6/26/2006 9:44:16 AM | I stay away from ANY site that asks for your credit card details, as have been burnt once before!! At the end of the day the trial is either free or not... they can "suspend" the account and reactivate it once you've paid...if that's the way you wnt to go!
Am sorry you guy's have had such a bad experience!!!

| eHarmony...STAY AWAY FROM THIS SITE!!! Posted: 6/26/2006 10:12:14 AM | I too took the time to fill out eHarmony's questionairre only to be told there was nobody out there for me. It's great to read all these testimonials and realise that I'm not THAT special -- lol.
For the record, I work for an online software company, and most fears about online credit card processing are unfounded. In fact, online transactions are now more secure than either faxing or using a cordless or cell phone. However, you do need to check your credit card statements very carefully and be sure that what you ordered is exactly what was charged.
Sheesh -- I sound like my mom!

| eHarmony...STAY AWAY FROM THIS SITE!!! Posted: 7/4/2006 6:56:47 PM | I would never give my credit info on a site that asks for it in advance. Especially when they don't have an option for cancelation through the web. (yep, there are sites that allow you to cancel through phone or regular mail only)
The hard truth is, all these sites are trying to make money out of other people's need for a companion. Its very sad realy. Nommater how you see it.

| eHarmony...STAY AWAY FROM THIS SITE!!! Posted: 7/5/2006 2:09:41 PM | Mos paid sites are phone calls work better than emails they cant loose those when they send you a confirmation while your still on the phone with them. Alway get a confirmation number. | |

| eHarmony...STAY AWAY FROM THIS SITE!!! Posted: 7/9/2006 7:57:15 PM | Eharmony is a joke, it's a paid site, and when I joined it, they said my ideal match lived in somewhere like Madagascar... when I said that I wanted to have my idea match with in 75 miles.

| eHarmony...STAY AWAY FROM THIS SITE!!! Posted: 7/10/2006 4:32:06 PM | FYI...I'd consider myself a country (i.e. a bit higher than a redneck) and a conservative Christian. My friend & I both filled out E-harmony's profiles and neither one of us had any matches. It took several weeks before I'd even got any match. I do think most of us are grown up enough & expericenced enough to know who we are looking for.
I have found the man of my dreams, but it was on another site. It's so good to believe in love again and know I don't have to be alone, if I choose not to be.
Know who you are and who you are looking for and you'll find someone. But sometimes the journey allows us to find really good friends along the way.

| eHarmony...STAY AWAY FROM THIS SITE!!! Posted: 7/10/2006 7:27:10 PM | I just think a lot of people use dating sites because they have busy lives. It is quite obvious that in the past 10 years people just became much busier and preoccupied with themselves. Divorce rates are higher, people not marrying longer, more single working people... It's just a big growing trend, but I think dating sites are here to stay.
I mean just look at the popularity of MySpace. Granted it's a pointless site, but there are other sites that quickly capitalized on its popularity by offering their own platforms. I gotta say though, I love PoF very much!
Anyway getting back to eHarmony. I knew that it was a conservative Christian website. But I also heard stories, from a different party, that a lot of couples ended up being married, and just before marriage, they went to seminars in a local church in United States. I guess I know what kinda people that site matches, then!
What I didn't like very much though, is filling out that 1 hour form, I gotta admit though, it was fun... But then I got no matches, what a waste of a saturday afternoon
