Should I stop being nice?Page 4 of 4    (1, 2, 3, 4)
I am not the best person on here to give advice, but all I can say is be yourself at all times.
Be honest, portray a true image of who you are online and never try to be someone you are not.
Be honest, and try not to let the rotten fish, or the fish which go silent, or the fish who like to upset other fish get you down.
Best of luck with the fishing

It's important to be yourself, though there can be a too squeaky nice which is rather off putting!

Well, being witty and original is going to get you noticed more than being "nice". You need to show your good points and grab their interest in the first few lines, so you need something punchy and snappy - it's you you're advertising!

I'd keep off sexual references though - what's gonna turn women off faster than anything is a man who makes sexual innuendos in the first few lines.

Even if you are gagging to get a woman between the sheets, or on the hall mat, you have to suppress that side of you....but be interesting. It's a fact, may women think just being "nice" = b0ring wuss but nice, interesting and witty is a different ball game!

have to disagree here.
it really doesn't matter what you put in your first message.
what really matters is who receives it.

edit:
was going to post this on the other thread but got distracted, so i'll put it here instead.

maybe folks could comment on the following.
the way i see it is:
assuming the profile is still active (many are not)
a message arrives.
first if it has no pic many will delete.
if it has a pic they dont like they will delete.
if it has a pic they think is ok they will check out the profile, then only if they like it all so far will they even read the message.
this may depend on how many messages they get, but the more they get, the more likely the above will apply.

See other ongoing threads. Unfortunately for us all this is so true! We have all passed comment on how nice our messages can be/are, but it is very much the recipient that has the upper hand. It doesn't matter how nice you are in your message or how good your profile is!
