can't anyone get used to it? When i was livin with a/this girl, she snored all the time at the age of 22 but that was the easiest way for me to fall asleep if it was to quiet i would lay there for ages waiting for the sandman. But the best way to deal with it elbow them a few time below the ribs not to hard jsut enough that they'll drop to lvl 2/3 of sleeping.

I think its around level 3... don't quote me though.

danien that is too funny - your old gf's snoring as a sleep enhancer. i just love that!
i have one of those sleep aids that play the continous sounds of a huge variety of sounds including crickets on a summer night, rain, and the wonderful pounds of surf against the shore, but not a selection with SNORERS!

you got me laughing big over that one!

You let one of your big toenails grow out , file it sharp and dig it deep inside his flesh, whichever part of his body is closest to you . He might have sleep apnea so you would be helping him out as well

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

That is the worst. Surgery! Try using a vice grip on his nasal passage to cut off airflow.

Did anyone mention the simple kiss? :) Kiss them and they'll stop snoring... or kiss them until they wake up, get horny and don't feel sleepy any longer.. then you go back to sleep...

The problem with snoring is it comes back!!! You hit them with the pillow, they start up again a few minutes later. Same with the kiss, same with just making noise. You have to learn to deal with it, live with it.

I word of advice though, don't kick them out of the room, cause they will keep snoring and keep you awake and unfortunatley they arn't right beside you to poke. You have to get up and walk to another room to get em to stop then

My ex husband snored like that...... man, it used to drive me batty. Before we had kids, I'd use earplugs. SERIOUSLY! Then, 4am would roll around and he was louder, you'd see this 5-foot-nothing-not-100lbs-soaking-wet chick literally hauling his butt to face the other way so at least I didn't have to smell his morning breath too. It was horrible! But I feel bad for people who do snore, cause they're just happy in their nice, deep sleep getting the crap kicked out of them without knowing what on earth has happened!

IDEAS: There are some medical procedures that will help. There are, as some suggested, natural methods to help too. If all else fails it'll be up to you to protect your ears.

As long as there is no sign of trauma, head tilt, chin lift maneuver. If it persists try an airway adjunct.

I'm a really bad snorer... but then I had a girlfriend who was a nurse in an old folk's home for many years who knew all the tricks. What worked for me was a low dose (1/2 pill of benedryl) of antihystimine before bedtime.

Sleep apnea is nothing to joke about. It is quite taxing on the person. They are rarely well rested, tired ALL the time. When people stop breathing that is a time to worry, not give em a kick in the butt or the ribs. Get your chronic snorer to a sleep clinic. If sleep apnea is the diagnosis, they can get a C Pap machine. But then you have to decide whether you would rather sleep with the Elephant Man or a snorer. Those machines are really freaky looking and I can't imagine how comfortable they would be, but it seems to work.

You know how hard it is to get a man to a doctor or sleep clinic? They don't want to admit anything is wrong so they keep on interrupting OUR sleep.

In my last LTR, we slept in separate rooms ~ because MY snoring kept him awake......... at one point I had placed my bed so it was just on the other side of the wall from his ~ and I had to move it because it was still waking him up.

And my cat snores too.

Tickle their stomach until they wake up or shift about enough that they stop.
But I don't need a lot of sleep. Sleep deprivation is a form of torture and it's not a shock that snoring breaks up relationships.

Snoring is a serious issue not only for a relationship but for the guy's quality of life and duration of life.

I used to snore badly and woke myself up all the time (apnea). I was so tired all the time. Georgie has given a good summary so I won't repeat alll the life threatening stuff.

The good news is that it is self curable to a fair degree. That's a fairly radical statement I guess but it is true cause I have done it.

A simple test is to pretend to snore. You'll find yourself putting your head into specific positions to make the noises. Now try the inverse breath as you were and try not to make snoring noises.

If your head is extended, and not tucked in, it is actually quite hard to make snoring noises. If you breath as you do in pilates and yoga it is even harder to snore.

The jaw position is important. If stressed the jaw is tight and drawn in. That almost guaruntees snoring for me. If it is relaxed, the jaw is further out and it becomes difficult to snore. That's the basis of some anti-snoring medical gadgets - to force the jaw out. Better to do it naturally I reckon.

I am not saying I am 100% snore free now but most of the time I am not waking up to my partner yelling and kicking me. I have periodical bouts of snoring - mostly high stress times - but I get it back under control again pretty quickly.

Summing up the secret is to stop hunching and tucking the head and to adopt a good sleeping posture. It takes quite a bit of discipline but sleeping better and having a happier partner is worthwhile. It can really make your life a lot better.

One proviso. Some guys snore from the chest. I don't, I am a head snorer and what I say doesn't apply to chest snorers. My experience doesn't apply to you.

If any head snorer wants to chat about stopping snoring and exchanging ideas I'd be happy to do so by email. Let me know.

Cheers

And to think that I was thinking a kick in the a$$ would put a stop to it........but of course it depends on the person.......
