It sounds to me like she is a bit "old fashion" with the shaving thingy. And as for the pedophile statement, that sounds like one of those false statements our moms use to tell use growing up as in "you'll go blind if you masturbate". Some times, you may have to convience people that mama was wrong.

personally i do think shaving the pubic hair off is a fetish, one that the american porn industry has spread into society ,and it has nothing to do with personal care or being clean.... and has everything to do with the pre pubecent look, i think its an other indication of how sick our society has become, women, are loosing there individuality, there brainwashed into looking young.....it amazes me how things have changed, in the past 20 years,maybe i am finally showing my age lol

I don't shave for no one but myself. I don't do it to look young or anything else. I do it because it makes me feel CLEAN. That is my personal feelings of it, has nothing to do with porn or anything else. My pubic hair, lack there of, doesn't make any less of a person. I am still an individual. So why do you shave your face? You shouldn't shave your face, it makes you look too young. Damn society for making us shave unwanted hair *rolls her eyes*

Well done folks, a lot of thoughts and points that I hadn't thought of.

Yes she is old fashioned, and stubborn, so I have absolutely no chance of talking her into shaving unless she wants to do it.

She doesn't really think I am a Pedo - it's just her way of justifying what she wants - which is to not shave. I was a bit taken aback with her reasoning, but I'm pretty sure she hasn't been the victim of abuse.

Her predecessor wouldn't shave either - her reasoning was that she didn't want to look like a Porn Star (I wish). I can understand that reasoning, and that view is interesting in the light of some of the comments further up the thread. Another reason from that girl was that she didn't want to be embarrassed in the Gym changing rooms, or at the Doctor's - and that sound reasonable to me, I think the logic being that Shaving = Sexually Active and this is a Bad Thing.

I have to agree with the first poster who stated their Gyno said it helps keep things clean and aired out .... for some it may, for some it may not, it all depends on body chemistry ... I shave because it makes me feel clean ... whether or not it actually helps, I don't know, I don't care to know .... it makes me feel clean, therefore in my mind, I am clean...

For those that have been told not to shave because its healthier, those facts were proven before thongs, boycut undies, blue jeans, stretch denim, and the various other non-breathable fabrics we cover our crotches with .... common sense folks .... use your better judgement ...

OPie, if she doesn't want to shave, no matter what her reason, it won't happen ...

She's basing that assertion on something, and you should find out what. There is probably a whole universe of assumptions and prejudices she has for you to discover, that remaining ignorant of would cause you problems with her trying to relate well sexually. Get to know her mind better. Just who the hell is this woman, anyway? You're in the dark.

Shaving can be a way to make the snootchie resemble a younger version, but usually is not about that at all. Women shave mostly because they rightly fear getting gum stuck in those hairs, when the man has become too excited to remember to spit it out before he starts in. She should be able to understand that reason well enough, I hope.

If she had the appearance of a young girl and voice of one. Then, I could see the argument, but as she'd have to be a proportional "little person" I doubt that's the case.

I trim myself above and shave below. I figure if I don't want to choke on a hair or two, I'd give her the same courtesy.
She has to trim it a bit.

You could not maintain your area and ask her for oral. Then, make sure a hair gets in her way, as she reacts ask her if she wants you to trim/shave. If yes, bring up her pedophile thoughts.

I remember watching The Doctors a few months back and the Gyno on the show also recommended women shave, and she did say that when possible, go commando. Tight undies and pants can cause problems so she said skirts and commando are a good choice.

20 years ago, heck 10 tears ago, women did not shave, and they where clean, some trimmed, a few had a landing strip, but very very few shaved, what has changed.... culture is youth obsessed , and the porn industry started promoting the shaved look, i am noy saying there is anything wrong with it, but the fact of the matter is its not natural, and it is done because it is supposed to emulate pre teens

There is a totally simple and easy response to the pedophile argument...

Do what many of us do...shave the labia (the lips) and keep hair on the mound above it, aka landing strip. Now if she's italian or whatever like me, she could also trim the mound a good bit as well but for a lot of women that's not needed.

Anyway... Look at her genitals - BOOM - there's hair. Look below the hair - BOOM- no hair. hahahahaha... Girls are totally hairless, no comparison.

And for oral, that should work perfectly fine.

I've yet to have a guy complain.

BTW, bdj...I would agree, except that I am a convert so I know it can be done. While married, my ex didn't care and I was lazy...so I never shaved, not nuttin, not even bikini line (wore suits w/a little skirt). In fact my ex prolly preferred me unshaven.

When I separated, the first guy I was with asked me about shaving, as in "have you thought about it?"...and he got me to thinking, hey, why not live wild and give it a try! And I've never looked back. I totally like it better now. He didn't nag or push me, he just got me to consider it. So while we are creatures of habit, we also can adopt new habits!

And OPie, my suggestion is to ask her to just try it, once, for you. To leave the "mound" (isn't it called the mons or something) alone so it still has hair and makes her look womanly or whatever she thinks of it, and then to shave the labia below. Just to try it for a week or so.

Trying it out once is a good compromise...and you can tell her that *I* gave it a shot and LOVE it now! LOL Of course she might then kill you for asking publicly about this...

Sure it feels cleaner, but it also just plain feels good to the touch. that is, when I touch it, or when a partner does. :)

I only asked one girl to shave out of all the women I have been with... After a long time, she decided to try it....she never went back... probably still is...
My G/F has goes from bare to landing patch to whatever... I don't care... she does it for herself, and to surprise me...
I tried shaving me to surprise her.... I must say it was very different.... looked weird but it was a lot cooler for summer....

I dated one girl who had virtually no hair down there at all. And she was well into middle age... she was just different....
Once the novelty wears off, I could care less if she's shaved or not... as long as she's happy....

How about some sort of compromise.Is there something that she really wants you to do for her,but aren't willing to consider doing? Relationships are give and take.

If not...I'd say if it's that important to you,then maybe you aren't as sexually compatible as you could be and it's time for a change.

If I remove the hair on my vulva, I do it for no one but myself.

I am a red-head. Shaving irritates my skin. Everywhere. The only thing I shave is my pits... every 2-3 days, longer inbetween shaving in the winter. I've had partners shave me, and it's damned hot... became a ritual with one. The regrowth and ingrowns and what not are a real biotch to deal with, and far more painful then anything I would subject myself to willingly on a routine basis.

The hair is there for a reason. Yes, it traps scents. It's supposed to. The concentration of pheremones and the protection of the delicate mucous membranes, not to mention a cushion on the pubic bone for rigorous sex. The hair is like your eyebrows and eyelashes... helps to keep things out of your eyes.

I don't remove it all, unless it was a grand mistake at the hands of the sadist.. err.. esthetician. I do not like the look of completely bald on me. Makes me feel wierd. I like a little left behind, but most of it gone. I'm really lucky 'cause my guy doesn't care what I do with it.

Women I've been with will often vary the amount of hair down their. Sometimes go bald for a while, sometimes not. It's all good as far as I'm concerned. No need to read into it too much as to why guys like hair or don't.

hell I go get mine waxed every 4 weeks! I cannot stand hair and have been doing this for years. I would say suggest waxing to her but if she won't shave she probably won't go get it waxed. Just tell her why in the exact words you told us!! I wear a lot of skimpy bikinis in the summer and I just like the feel of it. I do it for me and no one else. :)

I've only had One GF shave and I hated it. She didn't keep it up daily and allowed stubble to form...man was that brutal on my johnson! It was like she had sand paper taped to her junk. I got a "burn" once that put me off stickin it to her for days. I was like"shave it daily or grow it out... no more stubble!". She was a lot more fastidious from then on but I still prefer "natural".

Pubic hair is necessary it stops chafing during long periods of rough sex, which I happen to enjoy. If a girl wants to shave that's fine but she better be prepared for redness downstairs.

I don't actually`think it's terribly constructive or useful to analyse internet postings for their terminology, and then extrapolate any perceived meanings into personality defects of the poster, but as you started this I'll bite.

No we haven't had any rows about it - as most people on the thread have observed - it's her hair, she wears it in the style of her choice. It affects my sex life - so I believe that I have a right to a view, but the use of the word "argument" means - erm an argument, a logical argument put forward to persuade. I gather that you come from a world where it means to shout and stamp your feet. If you really are interested in what I said you should be able to read "I've been trying to encourage her to shave"

Encourage - not rage, rant, foam at the mouth, sulk, or throw my toys out of the pram. Or even as suggested several times - refuse oral contact.

But then people who say "period" say it to indicate that they are in broadcast mode only.

I think I would like to get to know you better, to depilate you personally. I'll bring my own tweezers and wax ........

I think my shaving her could be counted as foreplay if done right.
