| most Underated band? Posted: 7/16/2012 6:39:34 PM | the most underated bands in my opinion are nickleback and creed. people say they totally suck when i think they only 99.999 percent suck.
the use of the term underated is technically wrong. so many of the bands/artists i love are appreciated by the people who heard of them,. nobody ius saying they suck. they are just not as well known as they should be. proof of this can be found on youtube when they have a few hundred likes and no dislikes

| most Underated band? Posted: 7/17/2012 10:28:15 PM | I can think of several underrated bands. They're mainly from the early 90s, because I can't stand modern music. In my opinion, Green River, from the early 80s, is the most underrated band. Mark Arm, lead singer, claims grunge was around before him, and it probably was, but he first named the "genre" grunge, and was pretty much the founding father of grunge, who, as we all know, inspired Kurt Cobain, who changed the rock world forever. Mark Arm then formed Mudhoney with Steve Turner, and they're still around.
I also think Screaming Trees. I don't have any reasons other than their music is amazing.
So Green River, Mudhoney, Screaming Trees
Also, Mother Love Bone, but Andrew Wood died, so that's why they never really got big. But bassist Jeff Ament and guitarist Stone Gossard formed Pearl Jam afterward.

| most Underated band? Posted: 7/25/2012 11:41:50 AM | | The Sweet! Everybody knows ballroom blitz, but they had many incredible hits like, fox on the run and action, to name a few. They started out as a bubblegum type band doing heavy b sides, and turned into a rowdy, heavy live act. All four sang, so they had incredible backround vocals, an explosive drummer and great guitar player, with similarities to queen. These guys sold 50 million records, but were never real big in america due to bad management, and Brians problems......check them out, easily the most underated! | |

Indeed, they produce astuff that seriously grows on you. They are from a town not too far from where I live, and even most of the locals are unaware of them! They seem to be a hit in the US, but over here people don't seem to 'get it'. It's a pity really, they should be huge!

| most Underated band? Posted: 7/27/2012 10:47:29 AM | I'm a huge fan of what most people would consider obscure music. I have a list of bands I love which I feel are extremely underrated:
The Replacements Ted Leo and the Pharmacists X The Hold Steady-nobody tells a story like Craig Finn The Old 97's.
My list is much longer, these are just my top few.

| most Underated band? Posted: 8/14/2012 2:54:16 PM | some good answers here... i agree with the eels and the one who mentioned ours (one of my favorites) and porcupine tree
ill add-
school of fish- had a hit in the early 90's with 3 strange days, the whole first album is great
spacehog
screaming trees
unified theory- members of blind melon formed a band after shannon hoon died, with chris shinn on vox. anything chris shinn does is gold... apparently he's is singing for Live now, weird but i can only imagine live being a better band for it.

| most Underated band? Posted: 8/21/2012 8:58:11 AM | if the band were truely "underrated" we would not know about them so the more we mention bands we all know that automatically means they are not under rated if the general public already knows about them
I used to think RUSH was underrated but they sell alot of concert tickets so that automatically means they are not
if a band is selling cds and shows they are NOT underrated

| most Underated band? Posted: 8/26/2012 8:56:34 PM | Tons of great nods here!! First I have to laugh at the nods by hockeyfan82 to the Screaming Trees. lol C'mon. Grunge was neither musical, experimental, rebellious or.......you know what.....it was just there. An entire genre overrated. Except for a Soundgarden album here, and an Alice in Chains album there.
I definitely have to agree with these:
Voivod Warrior Soul (great nod!) Anathema (sickly underrated) Tiamat (interesting choice......A Deeper Kind of Slumber is a very strange album every person needs to hear once) Motorhead (odd but true) The Cranberries
I'd argue as a thrash band outside the Big Four Testament is immensely underrated within mainstream circles. Obviously they are appreciated within metal circles.
Amorphis & Katatonia - Like Anathema they both have the style for more mainstream appreciation. But being classified as metal will always hurt them. Both bands are brilliant.
