Well they didn't play the best they could..so it's not surprising really.
Upset? A tad!

But hey life goes on.....

As for above comment, I'm sure we are still awaiting Scotland to actually qualify some time in the future!

that was tighter than it looked in the first half, then it was like watching Bambi being slaughtered with a chainsaw

Alan Hansen for England Manager..he seems to know everything there is to know about football

Made for quite good entertainment in the end watching, 11 premiership footballers pretending to be a team ;)

May as well have been 11 blind men on that pitch....the commentator put it perfectly when he said they played like 11 individuals and not a team. damn I suppose its back to paying the full price for lager again now.

Those 11 'blind men' actually levelled the match at 2 -2 - they were robbed by a blind linesman (1986, anyone?).

We had to chase the game in the second half when we should have been level.

As to the non-English crowing about the result - come back to the topic when your own countries do something of note on the international stage.

Even with that goal we'd still be two down and if people
are proud of that performance then that really is sad.

Anyway when all's said and done one thing we have to remember..it was only a game of football !

It was equally as entertaining to watch threads like this bring out the 'plonker' in people acting like school kids, throwing little tantrums because their team wasn't part of the fun..aww give us a cuddle

I'm off for an ice cold with the grown ups

i just think they got exposed for what they are, a team with no leadership and to many egos. whilst the germans just got on with it with german efficiency.

the team had no balence yet again with the crease head wandering around the pitch and the lack of pace in the shape of upson and terry was frightening especially with the route one goal.

germany had a game plan and it worked as not exactly difficult to spot the weakness in the formation, they kept the ball away from milner and forced england to play it down the left. what is the point in playing 442 with just the one winger? and when 442 is played it means a target man to lead the line, im sure shrek and defore are not going to win much in the air. once the 3rd went in it was game over as chasing our tail.

one person who was pleased was blatter who doesnt want goal line technology and not the english clubs biggest fan.

I was very upset to see England lack passion, commitment, determination and creativity.

Too many egos, tantrums, and bling for sure.

What was very disappointing was no lessons were learned from the awful group stage games. After the embarrassment of drawing with the USA and Algeria, one would hope that Capello would see things needed changing.

Although this might sound like I am speaking after the event and learning from mistakes, (hindsight?) Wayne Rooney should have been dropped for the Algeria game, hopefully that would have re lighted the fire in his big belly and also set an example to the other players who were not performing.

Questions have to be asked as to why he did not appear to show any interest...

As for the substitutions we were all confused. I did not understand why Fabio pulled Milner off and put on Joe Cole, he should have pulled Barry off and put on Joe Cole so England could have attacked Germany from both sides.

Since that substitution was confusing, one of my friends joked saying "What is he going to do next....take off Defoe and put on Heskey!?"

Sadly that is exactly what happened. More confusion and no logic. England were in a position where they had to score goals and for whatever reason Fabio did not see it.

The final substitution was a waste of time...

As for the goal which was never given, sadly, life is one of those "if", "but", and maybe things, I do not feel that the decision to not award the goal had any significant impact on the game....purely because England were so awful. If the score was 2-2 at Half Time I think Loew would have changed things to be more aggressive.

It is also disappointing to see that those silly Scotsmen are still being anti England, are you not British?

As bad as this makes me sound, I admire how Germany plays football, their passing and their team ethos is something which England should learn from.

It would be nice if the Netherlands were to win the World Cup, but I think Brazil may win it as they are the masters of the Football Universe.

Maybe it sums up the state of England. Perhaps if the top league clubs supported more English players and the team was run with an English manager we would have more success. Although I do understand why nobody from England wanted to take on the job of manager when our football team has always failed to meet our expectations.
We just don't have the same nationalistic pride in our own country that other countries have.

I'm quite pleased that I decided to go off and do something else today..although I did take a radio to check on the score....... as I was in the middle of nowhere today..

I had a rather gorgeous day :) ..unlike those who watched the game.

I think it's a shame that we invest so much into buying foreign players for our Premiership teams and we have few very strong English players.
We should be investing more in the growth of our own rather than buying in because we let our reputation down when we play on an international level as a lot of the strength we have comes from abroad.

Having watched all of the Englad games there have been too many egos playing for themselves and not as part of a team. the WAGs would have probably done a better job..surely that could be arranged with an emergency nail breakage team at the side of the pitch!

What the hell happened?
I was listening to the game because I just couldn't bear to watch, too stressful.
At 2 - 0 I gave up, there was no way they could come back from that, I thought.
Unfortunately, I was right. Disallowed goal or not, the 'team' lost, fair and square.

Doubt England will do well in 2014 either, come 2018, when the tournament is again over
here, that's when they'll pull it out of the bag.

Didn't England win at cricket today? Not all bad then?

well it seems the highest paid manager in world football 6 million a year i beleive is not so popular now and neither are his world class players who was supposed to have the best chance for years of actually winning the world cup.Being scottish i am aware of my own countries inadequate form in world football BUT the difference is we are more realistic,it,s great to be confident and hopefully but the english media go well over the top then go to the other extreme when they fail.I,m sure if most people were honest they would say they didn,t think england would win the tournament BUT again the english media were CONVINCED that the team were UNBEATABLE and these people are supposed to be the experts!!!,this being part of the reason that scottish people find it hilarious because we can see it coming. As for fabio not the right man but you can not keep blaming the manager the players have to take responsibility as well but being pampered and spoiled this may not happen, apparently there players seen coming off the plane laughing and joking i,m sure not something you would like to see

No goal no flippin pay I say!!!

Well you'll be glad to know they don't get paid for playing for England and haven't done since 2007 and the money they used to receive now goes to charity as do any bonuses, they get their expenses paid for when they are with the England camp though. To counter my own argument though the money they can get from endorsement and sponsoring, especially if they win could earn them a fortune. The profile alone of a squad player would've rocketed even if they only made the semis.
To question any England players passion, commitment or effort to play for their Country is an insult as it is the realization of a life's dream , they go away from their families and friends for 6 weeks and carry on the training and discipline needed to be a professional footballer during the time for their holiday in the close season. They then have to the face the media and fans when they lose and have no hiding place.
Questions should be asked though how a very decent team with a splattering of great about it can perform so abjectly at a World cup and devoid of any ideas. Is Fabio at fault the same as was Sven, with that impressive club record and Steve McClaren the wally with the brolly who took Middlesbrough to the final of the EUEFA Cup and FC Twente to the dutch title, Twente a small side with a small budget toppling AJAX and PSV? or are the players just not good enough?
The squad lacked depth when after the injuries to Ferdinand and King the replacements weren't good enough, no right back cover. England lost yesterday because the defense was woeful and I can't remember a worse performance defensively, Germany didn't actually play that well. When a team has time and space to get in behind like they did teams will punish you, Germany punished England every time.
England were actually the more creative but pushed to far up with no cover behind to avoid the counter, school boy stuff and actually one part of the game that England excel at....usually, the setting up of a team and being disciplined is fundamental.
The reason I think England ultimately failed was partly due to injury at the back but mostly the lack of creativity in the squad, Rooney didn't have the service that he has at United, Gerrard was shunted out to the left and couldn't be effective. lampard didn't have a Mikel or Essien holding as he steamed forward. With a lack of creativity that England have they need to be able to hold the ball up, get players forward and get the ball in the box. What happened though was they punted it up to heskey who had to challenge for the ball and harass but with little joy and the attack comes to nothing.
Don't play him you then have two little men and no service, rooney drops deeper and so does Defoe to claim the ball and no one near or around the box.
The premiership isn't the problem, the better players coming from abroad enhance and help the England players and if your good enough you will make it to the Premiership through the English leagues. The majority of the conference teams are professional teams and the games even broadcast on sky so any English player has about 220 teams to try and play for and with media exposure, it should in theory be easier to make it in England than any league.
There could be an argument that too many English players play in England, Uruguay, Brazil Argentina and Ghana who are all still in the competition have very few players who play in their own league and are the foreigners that play in our leagues, along with Spain, France, Germany and Italy leagues. The German squad all play in Germany though as does the England squad ply its trade in its own league.
I don't think the problem is the Fabio or the Prmeiership but grass routes football, English players aren't comfortable with the ball, they don't have a trick or a turn and a bit of skill and can't dominate games the way more gifted teams do. Kids learning the game shouldn't be worried about 4-4-2 or man marking but how to trap, chip, turn, feint, keep possession, view a pass and be creative and play with a smile.
There was no fun, it is a game at the end of day and shouldn't be played without fear and tension but enjoyed and savoured.
