Why do you think "commitment" is becoming a thing of the past, slowly but surely...
Probably because both men and women are gradually figuring out that sex is not a reason for making a lifelong committment to another person.
No need to commit when you can get it right away....
That's only true for people who think sex is a good reason to commit to someone. If I can get sex without a committment with a woman who thinks the same way, I can much more easily reserve committment for someone with all of those other qualities that people keep saying are neccessary for a long term relationship to work. I can still commit to someone because I like lots of other things about her, evn if she has sex with me right away. Oh, wait. I did that. We didn't wait long to have sex, but I made a committment to my fiancee because I valued her intelligence, personality and lots of other things for which people want to be valued in a relationship. | |

That's why I said 'it's changing'. People don't commit for those reasons anymore, that's why you see a sharp decline in marriages, commitments, long term relationships. Sex used to be the biggest reason out there.... Find a woman, marry her and you will have access to a stable, risk free long term sex life.
Nowadays, men get it easier. They don't need to wine, dine and commit to get sex. | |

--First off, it is a truly ugly business.
--Second off, those who are in it cause most of their own troubles.
--Third off, I interviewed ***1.)working gigolo's (when I could find them, which was tough, even tougher to get them to meet to talk, tougher yet to get them to talk anything at all specific. Most were concerned about potential legal problems), ***2.) ex-call girls (what a bunch of star-struck crazies, and lazy to boot), ***3.) a therapist with 30+ years history of treating gigolo's (or at least attempting to treat) (she was a tremendous source of actual, on-the-street information, tremendous), and ***4.) women who stated directly or otherwise they had "rented" gigolo's (it was about control, they all said).
Always, always, always with gigolo's there was a 15 year to 30 year difference in age, the client being older.
I also studied indepth the volumes and volumes and volumes of reports on "sex workers" (as the term is used today) and their "clients" done by the acedemic and social work communities (the gist of which is sex workers are lazy people looking to score $$ from "people who don't deserve the money anyway, it's not theirs" who make their own troubles, and tricks no normal sex partner wants even in desparation, even on a bet).
It's a truly ugly business. I could find no redeeming value in the business to make my novel's character appealing to readers, no acceptable to readers justification for gigolo's actions. Because the character, and his actions, are important to the plot of the novel, I was forced to use novelistic tricks to make him more reader-likeable, such as having him be nice to little kids and small animals.
BTW, the most common reason a gigolo's "career" ends is not because of looks fading but rather because of chronic excessive alcohol intake. Gigolo wannabe's who choose drugs as their "numbing agent of choice" don't last more than a few encounters, if that, in the business. | |

Posted: 1/10/2011 11:45:15 AM | Those of you who claim that both men and women can get laid whenever they want provided that they are willing to expend the time/effort/money, and aren't too picky, are mistaken. Or anyway, have way overstated your case.
WHENEVER I want? ANYTIME?
I'd like to get laid RIGHT NOW, but it's 1:30 in the afternoon, and I can't imagine being able to find someone, anyone, to have sex with in the next hour or so, no matter what I do, where I go, or how much money I spend, starting from a standing start from where I am right now.
Now, of course I could make some calls, or send some e-mails, and maybe, maybe, find someone for a sexual encounter sometime in the next six to 12 hours, depending on what I'm willing to do, where I'm willing to go, or what I'm willing to put up with for a partner, but the chances of me finding someone RIGHT NOW, or even in the next 60 minutes are slim to none.
While I would agree that a woman will have an easier time "getting laid" than would a man,
My guess is that both men and women will experience periods during which they will be unable to find someone to have sex with no matter what they do. But I do think those periods will be longer and more frequent for most men...... | |

It means I, who am no beauty, extra pounds, and far from a spring chick, could decide "I wanna get laid" and set out to do that and within probably a 5 hour window come on back home all nicely laid.
Somewhere out there I'd find a man who would say yes. Hell yeah I would.

I lied and several women pelted me with rotten bananas,eggplant,zuchinnis, carrots and ummm, Okra, yes it is a vegetable( green ,tiny and short with pointed tip)has resemblance to a man's thingy..
These women yelled at me that I was so ignorant that I have not heard of the market booming of man made penises run by batteries and electric. One of the reasons the BOB is doing so well, is because women are doing the "Picking",,,,not based on sex,but based on looks, quality of man, etc,etc., thus, the requirment of BOB. Women need BOB cause all of us guys are no good. It's that simple,,,,just ask away right here in these forums. I dare one of you women to post the question,,,,"why do you have a BOB instead of the real thing???" and wait for some HONEST answers. I don't know about the 25 % of women, who just wants to get laid, perhaps some are lucky to score with a drunken stranger in a bar and some are not lucky that a sane man can filter that a slut is beyond him.. That is a brutal truth. | |

If in relationship if a man won't have sex with his woman, there are some reason for that ,the woman doesn't know how to turn him on by caressing him and put him in the mood, or her scent down there is a mood killa, or he is emotionally attach to someone else or he was dead tired from work,ect..
Walt, it has nothing to do that a man is not good enough, the problem is when the honeymoon is over and real life surface, some people don't make an effort that they have to make adjustment to live amecably with another person.. We have to remember that we are not the Star of the universe, we have to get along with others to live a meaningful life.. | |

If in relationship if a man won't have sex with his woman, there are some reason for that ,the woman doesn't know how to turn him on by caressing him and put him in the mood, or her scent down there is a mood killa, or he is emotionally attach to someone else or he was dead tired from work,ect.. or a control freak who wants to punish her by depriving her of something she likes- a very passive aggressive act | |

Nope. I disagree completely. Commitment is still very much intact, and I don't believe for a second that it is becoming a thing of the past.
For those that just want sex, will get it. However, casual encounters without commitment will in no way throw commitment out the door and leave it lingering in the past. | |

I prefer my BOB cause my BOB only does ME...I dont have to worry about who else THAT DAY it has been inside...
I dont have to worry what psycho chick it might have after it that is going to come slash my tires cause he said he was single.
My BOB isnt going to sit there and tell all the negative things other women have done to them and feel I OWE him sex to make up for what they have done.
My BOB isnt going to let me down...well atleast not if the batteries are fresh!
The reason I PREFER the real thing over MY BOB...is BOB doesnt kiss back, he cant hold my hand in public. I can curl around him but it is very hard to spoon a BOB. :P | |

Goes to show everyone's different. I'd prefer a guy who did none of these things, so to me they're reasons I'd like BOB. I can't yet find a guy who lays off the affection enough to make me comfortable, or who doesn't "need" it from me. | |
