| Profile pet peeves Posted: 4/6/2007 9:56:56 AM | Dogs come into the world already with clothes on...Its called fur. There are other animals that we kill just to get this item so we can wear it.
Dogs have no idea what stylish is. They are a life support system for a nose and a tongue. The only thing that runs through a dogs brain is: Will it hurt me? Can I eat it? Can I screw it? Can I roll in it?
Back on topic. I have lots of interests but I've only posted 1 current pic of myself on my profile. If a woman finds it appealling she stops and reads my profile. If she is interested to know more then she can email me. To plug up the photo album and spew out your life story all in your profile leaves nothing left to be interested in.
Am I wrong here? | |

I hate the "prefer not to say" option. Maybe an "other" option would be better. I felt forced to use "prefer not to say" when none of the other responses was accurate, but explained the situation in my profile. I agree about not liking "prefer not to say" without explanation.
What is it with putting clothes on dogs? My Boxer much appreciates some additional fabric to supplement her short, thin fur in cold Michigan winters. I see no reason to dress pets up for appearance sake though, but to each their own, as long as the animal is willing to put up with it.
On the objection to talking about religion, I don't understand, please clarify. Agreement about an important issue such as religion would seem to be a major criteria for deciding whether someone is a match. I agree. I pass people over completely based solely on their answer to that question and would hate to see it not included in profiles.

I guess i dress "provocatively in my pic, but really it was 80 degrees when the picture was taken and I was dressed appropriately for my region. I don't accept the intimate encounter thing. Get over it. I am not looking for sex.

or that anybody that have emailed somebody looking for intimate encounter Actually that one bugs me as well. I can understand the reasoning behind it though. I ended up on that list. I was referred to this site by a friend from a paid site. When I registered here I had a conversation with her thanking her. Yes she had intimate encounters. Being new I didn't know that would keep me from mailing some of the other people.

| Profile pet peeves Posted: 4/6/2007 12:34:49 PM | Stop with the emoticons. If I want silly bouncing characters, I'll turn on the cartoon channel. No use of punctuation at all? So,what the heck are you talking about?
I don't want to read your whole life story. Don't say you want to meet for a date and then try to pull me into the men's room for a bj. Don't send me an email or IM me if you haven't read my profile.
The worst is the person who writes every interest from A through Z or writes only one interest (the outdoors).

just a few of my favorite emoticons..
I love them!! | |

| Profile pet peeves Posted: 4/6/2007 12:38:52 PM | Hey all - I've read pretty much all of these posts and I would have to agree with most of them!!!
I think that these profiles regardless of what people say are a "Chalked up" resume to try and impress the opposite sex without it conveying who you really are! I can tell you all the things that you want to hear, but it mainly comes down to your picture!!! If someone doesn't like your picture(s), you can bet your ass they aren't going to bother reading your profile!!
I personally don't want to hear how you are looking for "this all around great guy/girl who is the next door type"...Guys/girls you'll never find it if you don't try to get to know someone. Yes the words on a profile are like a fresh can of wall paint that can be changed over and over again to try and attract a certain type of individual!!!! But again, it comes down to the attraction.... so in this case I think that picture posts mean more than words!
The biggest pet peeve that I have with profiles are the ones (as you've all said) that have: 1. Semi-nude photos - what happened to the element of suprise??? 2. Children in photos - be proud of your children, but don't post them all over the internet!! I have kids and you will NEVER catch pictures of my kids on here!!! 3. Guys or Girls that say "oh he/she can/can't be like this"....what happened to "People are People"? Greatness comes in all shapes and sizes!!! Again, cutting yourself short of the opportunity to meet incredible people! 4. "I'm a workoholic".....okay then take your profile off, because not only do you not have time to check your email (if you have any), but how are you going to find the time to invest in spending it getting to know someone? 5. "Ask me later" "I'll tell you later" or "Prefer not to say".... Got something to hide?? Guess what - your not the one for me!!! I don't like surprises!!! 6. People who write novels on their profiles. You know what, sum it up... "I'm here for this, I am looking for that and this is how I am (take me or leave me)"...... I don't have time to read your life history! Should I want to get to know you, then I think that it would be great to leave something for discussion!!!!
Okay, seriously I think I've ranted enough! HAHA! :D I think that profiles should basically be a short sum up of who you are!!! Again, it's one of those, love will find you when it's supposed to.
Cheers everyone!!! Happy Fishing!!!!

I think that profiles should basically be a short sum up of who you are!!! Bingo. My profile fits me well. I have heard many times that I should put the kind of person that I am looking for. Well I feel that if a person reads my profile and posts they will know the kind of person that I am. As far as what I am looking for. That all depends on the person that I find doesn't it.

OH wait - perhaps it's a "TAKEN BUT PLAY" situation..... where the individual is a little scare of getting caught with their hands in the cookie jar! LMAO!

|
| Profile pet peeves Posted: 4/6/2007 2:24:12 PM | Most of it has already been said...
Well, I guess mine would be -sp3Ak!N6 |1ke ThAt Ain't gonna waste my time trying to decipher what you wrote...
-Emoticons Come on, are we in kindergarden?!?
-"prefer not to say" all over the page People (including me) *will* assume the worst, unless you explain why you put that in the "about me section".
-Profile that are resumed to I like movies, music, my friends, my family, hanging out, ect... That didn't really tell me anything about you that set you apart from the rest.
-And the worst: "I like to have fun" I have yet to find someone who doesn't...
Oh... And of course, no pic and "Ask and I'll tell you".

| Profile pet peeves Posted: 4/6/2007 3:01:02 PM | dressed up gooses in people's yards are odd too I think.

damn I guess I should take my pink flamigo dressed in the tutu off my front yard..
how about gnomes?? do people have a problem with those..

| Profile pet peeves Posted: 4/6/2007 3:04:23 PM | | -those who have a shopping list of what they want rather than explaining who they are would be one. | |

You know there may come a time in the not so distant future when the world will have to ask our American friends to stop breeding......just for a few generations.
I had my profile reviewed. I need more pics and I have to tell more about myself. Neither of which I'm bound to do. If women find me ugly more pics are only going to prove their point. So even less reason to read the profile. Maybe what I should do is borrow someone's dog, a fashion consultant and a hair stylist.....Hmmmmm.

| Profile pet peeves Posted: 4/6/2007 7:45:03 PM | Definitely grammar, punctuation, and spelling. And I don't mean the occasional slip up or fat-fingered word, either. I mean that truly bad, net-inspired, numbers-replacing-words, numbers-inside-words, all-capitals, non-punctuated crap some folks try to pass off as language. It makes me cringe the same way I cringe every time I hear George Bush say "nuculer."
I don't consider myself an expert at grammar, but I do try... however... I do suffer... somewhat... from a rare, writing disease... you guessed it...
I have Ellipsalepsy...

| Profile pet peeves Posted: 4/6/2007 8:30:57 PM | dacainaru, you don't need to get rid of the pink flamingo, just remove the tutu...and send it to me....please! I have a pink flamingo on my patio that sings and dances when anyone walks past it. The tutu would compliment it very well.

|
| Profile pet peeves Posted: 4/6/2007 8:59:41 PM | RAE!! your flamingo dances..
Oh see now I have to go find myself one of those.. LOLOL..
Edit: another pet peeve of mine.. people who are jealous cause there dog doesn't look good in a wig.
|
| Profile pet peeves Posted: 4/6/2007 9:38:13 PM | The absolute WORST is not the people who put no information in their profiles......that is easy, just ignore it and move on. What REALLY bugs me is when those same people write me and say "check out my profile, if you like what you see get back to me". There is NOTHING to see!!! WTF!!!
Oh, and one more thing...people (yeah, this is usually men) who feel a need to put pics with things they have killed. Perhaps you enjoy going out and finding the most beautiful and majestic creatures you can and slaughtering them for a trophy, I don't find that at all appealing. Put hunting in your interests, leave the pics for that first date with hick girl........

| Profile pet peeves Posted: 4/6/2007 10:19:58 PM | | Maybe that was the pic of the pet that wouldn't love them back..... | |

I never even considered that possibility. Could serve as a nice warning for the potentially unruly mate, also!!!

| Profile pet peeves Posted: 4/7/2007 1:32:11 AM | all those scenery pics! jeebus yes it's a sunset, a pretty one at that , but wtf does that have to do with anything?
People that do this on their profile :
interests - blah blah blah xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! or I'll fill this in later
children - prefer not to say (why the hell not?!?)
actually the whole prefer not to say , in my opinion , translates in to "yes but not willing to admit it"
the obviously fake glamour shot pictures, picutres from 10 + years ago etc.
Profiles that are overly negative - yes you're beeyatching and complaining *really* makes me want to spend an evening with you up close and in person... not!
career - "I have one" (yipee for you)
