Using Windows XP with SP3 and Internet Explorer 8.0. Have disabled pop up blocker. Any suggestions?
I don't think a lot of people are even seeing the new IM/chat notification as it is a teeny box way at the bottom of the screen for me. Not at all what folks were used to looking for on here. Are people just not accepting the IM request or what? | |

I cannnot see all of the icons on the IM screen unless I choose 75% view. The smileys at the bottom do not show unless I do this and I get half of the 'send' button/icon thingy showing.
Everyone else has mentioned an alert noise and ability to see the other person typing.

Posted: 6/6/2011 6:43:28 AM | When I get a chat request & hit yes a box comes up but never opens & then freezes IE. I justed downloaded version 9 of Explorer is this not compatable with the new chat feature? I have used this in the past and it worked.
Any suggestions would be helpful!
If this packages development mirrors the other features on this site, changes are made often in real time. Something that does not work right now may work again in minutes or hours at times. Just try again later or the next day is the only possible advise. Just keep posting here when things do not work. | |

Thanks msg 3 mentioned it was very slow. No answer as to why. Please READ the thread and just add NEW problems here. We don't need 20 people saying "Yeah it is slow for me too!". Trust me once is enough. | |

Posted: 6/8/2011 10:14:41 AM | Whenever I try to chat, I get "your chat request is pending". My guy is online, window is open, but all I get is that pending message. Tried different browsers, upgraded browsers, made sure popup blocker is off, ran virus scans, updated flash, no good. Rebooted.
Late last night i randomly picked a gut and tried him after I checked the pop up blocker again, and the chat went though (kind of embarrassing) but i could connect to no one else.
Please help, my gentle prince is pending.

Whenever I try to chat, I get "your chat request is pending". My guy is online, window is open, but all I get is that pending message.
For some reason, people show as 'chat' or 'online' for some time after they have ceased to be so. I know this from phone calls with them - they have assured me that their pc has been switched off for ten minutes, yet they still show the previous.
Ever though that the guy might not want to chat at that point?
OT I don't mind the new facility, but I do miss 'watching' them type, and the noise it made when a message was sent. | |

Posted: 6/10/2011 10:40:12 AM | I've noticed that randomly, when you already have a chat session open, if you click on another member to chat with, sometimes a new tab will be created for that person, and sometimes it will completely override the old chat session. Basically what I'm trying to say is....if i click on 3 diff. people to chat with, sometimes I'll have 3 tabs going on the left, and sometimes each person will create a completely new chat window, and the old person I was chatting with disappears.
Any insight on how or why that happens?
Well I will take a wild guess that it is because there is a bug in the software. Did you READ msg 1 here? Your basically testing a early beta release of this software. LOTS of things will be bugs right now. And the message above this one already reported the same thing? No need to just repeat the last message please. | |

Posted: 6/10/2011 6:05:03 PM | We will need to look into it. chances are your friend doesn't have flash 10.2 or higher.
lots of issues are still getting worked out and we are focusing on the most important ones first. ie making sure as many people can use the IM as possible.
Only 14% of chats are rejected, the biggest problem is someone logged in for 30 seconds and left the site.. We still think they are logged in but they are not. Same if someone accesses the site via mobile. In the coming months we will bring chat into the Plentyoffish mobile apps. | |

Hmm. My only real problem with it so far, is that the window is so BIG, it fills a quarter of my screen. I wish I had the option to make it only about a third that size, perhaps with no pic on it after the chat gets going. Of course, I'm one of those "doing five things at once all the time " people, so I can understand that my own desires might not be all that popular. | |

Posted: 6/12/2011 10:47:37 AM | Also, there used to be a 'double click to copy' function that I dont seem to have, if fact you cannot copy anything anyhow it seems from the IM window.
I'm a forgetful old thing and sometimes like to save conversations but I cant now.
I hope this function is reinstated.
Admin has said they are working on actually incorporating chat logs you can save unlike the old IM app we had here. Just wait a bit. you won't need to copy and paste. | |

When someone ims me and i accept - it looks like ive connected with them
but when i type they cannot see what i write
then if i close the im - the browser that i was using for the regular POF console is dead and goes to the white-screen browser window with a 'diagnose connection problems' screen.
i then cannot bring up pof even by typing the www address in a new browser search bar - i have to go to an email from pof and link to pos thru there !
i then have to email the person who i was attempting to im with and tell them not to use im for me because it crashes my browser
it is a shame because the new thing looks good , just have not been able to use it much - because it crashes ... thank you | |

But the main problem for me is that part way through the chat either myself or the other person will stop having the text updated. I can see them typing but nothing comes up on my screen, or if I type then I will see my message for a second or 2 but then it disappears. It also seems to happen for the other person. The only way to sort it appears to be to log out (maybe even restart browser) and then start the chat again. Only problem with this is that if you have been talking a while then the other person may not appear to be online so there is no option to chat. You then have to call them and get them to login again to start chatting.
I am using ubuntu 11.04 / jolicloud 1.2, both firefox and chrome, latest flash, one webcam running on old V4L1 libs (as V4L2 libs don't let flash see cam), and the other running on V4L2 libs as that cam is supported. Both have the same problem.
The old chat used to let you talk for hours, this one seems to fill up the screen cache and then won't show anymore text. A big problem when the girl you are talking to can see you typing but you don't appear to answer her as you can not see her questions and she can not see your replies. So she then thinks you are ignoring her and talking to another. Mainly seems to be on video chat, which was better last night as I could talk now I have working sounds, so I could tell her to login again. | |

Posted: 6/30/2011 1:24:43 AM | Yesterday all that I used or started to use, worked fine. Today not so. No worries, beta, I get it. You're still working out the bugs.
What I am concerned about is that when I went to use the video yesterday when all seem well, it gave me a warning that my video might be recorded. WTH? It certainly stopped me from going ahead with the video feature. Who's recording and why?
Probably a warning more to make you think about keeping your clothes on during your chat session. | |
