For the last 3 days I was only able to opne the IM chat when I click on "Chat" only from "My favourites" section and if I click chat from any other section nothing happenes. Today the problem is generalized o any section and window and vlivking on "Chat" from "My favourite" section does not allow me to open the IM chat and I don't know any other way to access the IM chat.
Please help.

chat was working as normal (not just on favorites) by noon on the 4'th. I have used it 3 times this morning 7-5-2011 just to test. All worked fine clicking on the "chat"link to to a profile name on top of my inbox. | |

Then you need to post info on your platform. It does not look like your using a normal browswer/PC. I suspect your trying to use one of the POF apps like for a iphone or android maybe. Whole different problem. I have used chat this morning on both IE and Firefox and don't have a problem | |

Just saying it doesn't work is not helping anything really if we can not isolate what it is doing and recognize anything similiar for those that can't chat still | |

(Chat was down for a couple days 7-2 thru 7-4-2011) It is better but not totaly fixed. Works for some and not others still. Please do not keep posting it does not work here today (7-5-2011) Just hang tight.
SORRY! They are working on it.
Remember IM/Chat is a BETA product in developement. Glitches are going to pop up!
They are trying to push out a BUNCH of new code ASAP.
They have fixed a LOT of the early reported probs and the session timeout issues will be addressed soon.

Posted: 7/7/2011 3:10:27 PM | I fixed my issue by installing a Flash blocker on Safari. It's too bad I had too, but it's better than having a floating chat box that I can't click behind or click off. I don't know what was wrong with the old chat app from POF, but whatever.
The old IM tool was a POS that only worked sometimes for some people. Was not written by POF and could not be properly supported. Other then that it was wonderful. The new one is actually written by POF and so it will be much better supported in the end. It is getting better all the time as they keep enhancing it TRUST ME. | |

Did you actually READ any of this thread. This is noted in message ONE as a known problem and lots of other places already by others and also reported to be addressed soon by the coders (per the owner/admin) just TWO posts above this in HUGE red letters to get your attention. | |

Posted: 7/7/2011 4:11:18 PM | A minor, but slightly annoying issue: when video chatting, the text area becomes so small you can only read one or sometimes two lines of text. More than enough if you and your 'partner' are in to 'txt spk' but, if like me, you believe in full sentences, it can be somewhat restrictive.
Another issue I've noticed on both video and non-video chat is that the Firefox built-in spell checker isn't active. Not sure if anything can be done about that?
Just for info I am running XP with FF 5.0.
Other than that, liking the new system!

Depends on what you mean by "looking into". It is a reported problem in msg 1 of this thread. No schedule for a fix on this one.
Consider disabling your chat for awhile is my recomendation. It is in your email settings.
Or send hima message to stop IM'ing you. Do THAT and contact me if he IM's again and I'll send him a stern warning. Best I can do darlin

Posted: 7/12/2011 9:43:35 AM | As far as it stands right now (and trust me, things could change at the drop of a hat) you cannot block a person from mailing you until they have sent a message via your inbox. If they do that, you'll notice on the bottom right side of their message box the link to "Block User".
And if there is a "Block User" function available on the chatting side of things, I suggest you use that as well.
But as it stands right now? Both are separate entities. Which means they must be blocked in both area; one block does not cover both. | |

What I have noticed though is a member I have blocked from emailing me, constantly IMs me.
I've blocked him multiple times in IM but he's still able to IM with the same profile. Any suggestions how I can permanently block this user from contacting me???? | |

Posted: 7/16/2011 11:23:03 AM | I am running MS Win 7 - 64 bit home version and it times out EVERY time with both IE-8 & Firefox 5.0, I hope they get this fixed soon because I payed good $$$ for the use of this site and the inoperative chat feature is a big (HUGE) bummer!
