It then said "chat declined".
I was wondering...
When I click: "Viewed Me"
I see pictures of the ladies,
then under the pictures it sometimes says:
"Chat" or "Online Now".
What exactly is the difference?
If it says Chat, are they necessarily online?
If it says Online Now, does that mean they prefer not to use the chat feature?
Other than this, I've been very happy here, and it's only been one day. | |

Posted: 11/13/2011 9:27:48 AM | When you guys get "Chat timed out"..it means that the person you sent the chat request to is simply ignoring you because she did not like your sorry az and did not want to hit the decline button (perhaps not to be mean? not sure what's worse though). If you get "Chat declined" it means she straight out threw you under the bus.
The only exception to the "Chat time out" would be that you send the chat request a couple of seconds after she logged off. You can check this by waiting 5 minutes and seeing if she is still available to chat. If so, it's confirmed that your sorry az was ignored.
So if these are your issues the chat feature is working PERFECTLY! | |

Posted: 11/14/2011 1:04:50 AM | Totally wrong John. I have a friend who I could chat to with the old IM. With this version I cant most of the time, I know she is online and that she is not receiving my chat invite.
We are being used by POF as beta testers but they dont seem capable of curing their software problems.
Or will they shortly say its fixed but we have to upgrade and pay money to use it. | |

| POF Chat Crashes Internet Explorer, Google Chrome 17

Up until a day or 2 ago I was able to sometimes use the chat feature..but it was finicky...but now all I get is a black screen when I attempt to chat. I had one of my friends IRL try to chat me and it times out every time. Has anyone here had any success with solving this?
Oh, and I did update my flash, to see if that was the problem, ....it wasnt. | |

Posted: 11/29/2011 8:49:12 PM | Either way, when I go to "my city" and it lists all of my local matches, it usually shows most people as available to chat. Of course, the people that have disabled that function don't show up as available. However, recently almost nobody shows up as available to chat. It either shows them as "Online now", "Online today","Online this week", etc even though they are currently online.
I was curious if this is a widespread problem, if it was only me and/or if POF was aware of this issue.

Posted: 12/1/2011 9:29:53 PM | The instant messenger might serve the site better as a stand-alone application, rather than integrated into the browser, as most people just automatically ignore their pop-up blockers, or have multiple windows open, blocking any incoming IMs..
I'm just suggesting this after having almost every IM I try to send time out, it might take some of the roulette out of the equation. People could also set their status to Away, instead of simply being logged in and having an incoming time out. | |

What if after a while, the word "chat" in red is not there anymore, and then after a while shows up again?
Does it mean the person is chatting?

Or it could mean that the user has logged out. | |

Posted: 12/8/2011 8:21:16 AM | It just means that the person you sent the chat request to ignored the chat because she did not want to chat with you for whatever reason. I believe if the recipiant simply closes the request window, it will show timed out. Some girls do this instead of hitting the "decline" button.
I don't see what is so complicated about this. Girls don't like chat (certainly if they are half decent looking) because either they will only answer the IM to Brad Pitt because of prnicess syndrome or are just busy going through all of the incomming mail. Most don't know that there is a feature to turn it off. | |
