damn zug, this just gets me more fired up for tonight!
I hear ya on all of them, 'cept I wanna see Diaz just knock Condit the fuck out, but either it's going to be a good one!

| ***MMA, UFC, WEC, and REAL FIGHTING*** Posted: 2/4/2012 3:13:43 PM | I've not been a huge fan of the Diaz bros, but these Fox preview episodes have given me a more rounded perspective of Nick and Nate now, so I just wish them both the best of luck.
Diaz would seem to be the favourite (and he battered BJ Penn!). I'm not entirely sure whether either of them are a threat to GSP though. Diaz is probably 'tougher' than GSP, but in the Octagon, I think GSP would probably end up dominating Diaz with his wrestling/cardio - but if Diaz does win this one for a title shot, then we'll just find out...
Looking forward to the event though!

| ***MMA, UFC, WEC, and REAL FIGHTING*** Posted: 2/5/2012 8:38:13 AM | Nick Diaz is a mental midget.
He complains about wrestling, because he can't stop it. Now he hates leg kicks cause he can't defend them.'
Maybe he would have the belt if he didn't like he was ****in retarded.
All it takes is a smart gameplan, and neither Diaz brother can get anything going.

I agree on all points but, I feel he has the capacity to be a better fighter.
Of course he has to face his greatest enemy, which of course is himself.
Emotion aside, he acted like a fucking spoiled little girl after the match, and I hope he has the personal insight to see where he can improve, if he's even given the chance to return.
That said, I have to hand it to Nelson, damn, that boy can take a beating.

Of course he could he can be a better fighter, if he stops thinking it's a bar room brawl.
The guy acts as if nobody has a right to try and win against him.
If Condit had stood infront of him and Ko'ed Nick, he would find a way to not only say it was an early stoppage, but that Condit didn't fight like a man.
And in my last post, I forgot to add act, in the retarded sentence. LOL

Haha! I'm totally with you on that one!!! It made me feel dizzy just 'watching' some of those knee impacts!! As Rogan said, that guy may have the toughest jaw in the UFC - he's like a taller, chubbier, American verion of Wolverine! He even managed to stop Werdum in his tracks a few times with his own powerful punches.
Diaz just needs to learn that ANY opponent with common sense is going to adopt tactics that will attempt to neutralise his attributes and abilities (and frustrate him in the process).
He can talk smack and try to provoke them into playing it his way as much as he likes, but a professional opponent knows that sticking to their gameplan and winning is more important than rising to that kind of playground provocation.
I hope he doesn't quit for good. He's considered one of the best fighters in the welterweight division, and still has a few good years left in him to further improve himself - he just needs to learn to adapt to his opponent's tactics during the fight, instead of just getting upset about it and losing his cool.
I don't think Dana White would cut him loose. Dana recognises his talent and potential, and he's professional enough not to take Diaz's outbursts too personally. He's already commented that he hopes Diaz will reconsider.

| ***MMA, UFC, WEC, and REAL FIGHTING*** Posted: 2/9/2012 2:39:07 PM | A rematch between Condit and Diaz was looking to be set, but was called off.
Now we all know why.
Diaz failed a drug test for weed, just like he did at Pride 33.
What a retard....................................................................................

| ***MMA, UFC, WEC, and REAL FIGHTING*** Posted: 2/10/2012 3:36:51 PM | ^^^^^ Actually I would say the real stupid part is, smoking weed can blow your career as a fighter.
That truly is the dumb part.

| ***MMA, UFC, WEC, and REAL FIGHTING*** Posted: 2/15/2012 11:42:05 AM | I only just came across this thread. Reading the beginning arguments regarding MMA vs boxing, I believe Royce Gracie proved to the world that boxing is obsolete back in the early 90's. I don't have anything against boxing. I love to watch Pacquiao. But, given the choice between watching boxing or MMA, I'd choose MMA. Hands down. I appreciate the combination of different styles and disciplines that MMA employs. And when a fighter is able to submit his opponent, I get way more excited than with a knock out. But, that's just me. | |

| ***MMA, UFC, WEC, and REAL FIGHTING*** Posted: 2/15/2012 1:20:59 PM | Funny to me how Boxers will roll over to MMA/UFC and try their hand. Let's be realistic, it it were the other away around how long do you think they would have lasted in the ring with someone like Bernard Hopkins?
I doubt anyone of them would have made it through the first round.
|
| ***MMA, UFC, WEC, and REAL FIGHTING*** Posted: 2/15/2012 1:44:20 PM | Boxers don't "try their hand" against the top tier MMA fighters and never have. Randy Couture was a great fighter, but was on his way out. Yet...he finished James Tony in seconds.
That being said, I think Anderson Silva and Junior Dos Santos could hold their own in a boxing match with a quality pro boxer. Perhaps not the elite fighters, but they do have good boxing skill. That being said, Bernard Hopkins would get dispatched quickly by Silva in the cage with knees, elbows and kicks.
A specialist will always be "better" than an all-rounder (the very nature of an MMA fighter) in their respective field, yet in an MMA fight where it's much closer to a TRUE fight, the boxer, regardless of skill, has little chance of survival.
|
| ***MMA, UFC, WEC, and REAL FIGHTING*** Posted: 2/16/2012 8:40:11 AM | | I have to disagree santos and silva would get their asses kicked in a boxing match once you get used to using your legs and knees it's almost impossible to go back to just using your hands | |
|
| ***MMA, UFC, WEC, and REAL FIGHTING*** Posted: 2/16/2012 1:24:18 PM | | any of them would have their asses kicked by someone proficient with a gun , knife, or club, fighting stick, so what's your point? | |

seriously, this is one of the most asinine comments I have ever read, what makes it worse is you probably believe it.
to think for a moment these individuals do not posses training in one, or all, of these specific fields is ridiculous.
Ridiculous.

| ***MMA, UFC, WEC, and REAL FIGHTING*** Posted: 2/18/2012 1:47:16 PM | true, they could each take on an infantry battalion, most likely. the point is all this crap about who is the "baddest" or most 'bad-azz' within a narrowly defined set of 'rules' is silly
if GSP or whoever the 'baddest' MMA guy is wanted to come after me, I'd handle him with 12- ga. Rem. 870 magnum 00-buck , without spending all the time training.
It's a bit odd to me, to worship a person whose biggest skill is hurting other people with their hands feet and other body parts, but to each their own

you have nothing to worry about, you're not a world class fighter.
I'd handle him with 12- ga. Rem. 870 magnum 00-buck , without spending all the time training.
of course you would.

it's a bit odd to me, to post about a subject you clearly do not/can not, understand.

| ***MMA, UFC, WEC, and REAL FIGHTING*** Posted: 2/19/2012 2:35:30 AM | | I've practiced MMA for over a year now. Kudos to anyone who does step into the ring is daunting, confronting and it scares the living shit out of you. GSP is an amazing athlete and a decent person to boot, Diaz is a over grown bully and I hope GSP bombs him. | |
|
| ***MMA, UFC, WEC, and REAL FIGHTING*** Posted: 2/20/2012 12:26:47 PM | How the heck can boxing be obsolete, its just a sport? In fact I would say that MMA reminds me more of the old London prize fighting rules of the 19th century where boxers were allowed to kick and wrestle and push but it was always a "fair" standup fight each round would end when a competitor would hit the floor, they even had spikes in there shoes for kicking.
I dont get the big deal about MMA vs Boxing. I love boxing as a sport I could'nt care less who would win in a hypothetical street fight. It's just about entertainment, and I prefer everything about boxing, the style the artistic quality of some fighters, the history streching back hundreds of years, the greats from the past who had a social effect on the world. I have never enjoyed watching wrestling I hate the rolling around on the floor, that's probably why I dont like MMA.
UFC is a great product that has developed well over the years but Boxing killed its self in America not because MMA is better but because Boxing promoters took everything onto PPV and HBO/Showtime. UFC was able to capatlise on a public that no longer had easy access to Boxing (especially younger people who never grew up with boxing) and eventialy the quality of American fighters has degraded due to a lack of general exposure causing a reduced talent pool. In America in the 1920's there where more registered pro boxers in New York city than there are in the entire world today, Dempsey vs Tunney drew a crowd of 120,557.
Boxing is still very popular in the UK and much of Europe where fights like Chisora vs Klitschko (and the post fight brawl) get massive media coverage, while UFC gets no mainstream coverage at all.
|
| ***MMA, UFC, WEC, and REAL FIGHTING*** Posted: 2/20/2012 5:17:03 PM | Apples and oranges dude, I too like watching boxing requires a lot of foot work and stamina. But then again if you've ever grappled with someone you'll know just how intense and physically draining it is let alone getting back up to continue throwing kicks and fists.
Neither boxing or MMA is better they are two different sports, just like Thai boxing is a different thing all together. UFC I still presume is a little too brutal for mainstream viewing especially with all the gore.
People just like to think that something is the "Ultimate" style of fighting, there isn't it depends on the person.
|
| ***MMA, UFC, WEC, and REAL FIGHTING*** Posted: 2/21/2012 1:14:38 PM | I agree I never got why the two sets of fans seem to hate the others sport. I like boxing but dont really enjoy UFC but I have nothing against it at all.
I wish I could have watched the likes of Louis and Dempsey from ring side.
|
| ***MMA, UFC, WEC, and REAL FIGHTING*** Posted: 2/21/2012 4:08:23 PM | | Dunno I always thought because most of the people who bring on the hate are probably couch potatoes and its the whole mentality "Oh my sport is tougher than your sport". | |
|
| ***MMA, UFC, WEC, and REAL FIGHTING*** Posted: 2/22/2012 1:19:23 AM | I used to want to like boxing as a sport to watch, but couldn't quite get into it. Now UFC is available, I finally found what I was holding out for.
I have nothing against Boxing as a sport, I just prefer MMA.
