With all of the info on head injuries I can not imagine supporting these brutal sports. I have already decided not to let my son play football and I am having second thoughts about hockey. Too bad really but where are all these guys going to be in 10 - 20 years?

It's upto Diaz I suppose.

He's a pretty good fighter, no-one can take that away from him, regardless of his conduct. Of course, if he continues to act unprofessionally (and uncharitably) there may not be many folks out there who care how good a fighter he is, as no organisation is going to give him fights and the public will just forget about him in time.

Maybe he's made enough money now and just needs to fade back into obscurity - he never really seemed comfortable with the publicity and obligations that come with being a high-profile professional athlete anyway.

In terms of MMA-related head injuries and the long-term medical consequences - it's a combat sport.

Efforts can be made to minimise they long-term damage caused, but fighting (by it's very nature) involves inflicting damage on each other, so there's always going to be a risk of personal injury. Some careers are just more dangerous than others. If MMA is what a person loves and wants to pursue as a career, then they are every bit as entitled to do so as a Police officer carrying a gun or a Fireman entering a burning building. As long as reasonable measures have been taken to minimise these risks, then I don't see a problem with people using their bodies recklessly (as long as they fully understand and accept the risks) - otherwise, by extension, you'd have to ban a number of other potentially hazardous sports and recreational too (possibly walking out your front door and crossing the street too!).

Whether young children should be allowed to practice MMA is another argument. Much of MMA is derived from other long-established Traditional Martial Arts and competitive sports, so perhaps younger kids can focus on the specific sports and martial arts at semi-contact level until they are adult age and able to sign a disclaimer and make their own decision about their personal safety (like you do when you go parachuting for a hobby) practicing MMA at full-contact level.

these arguments about who is more 'bad-azz' MMA fighters or street fighters or bar fighters remind me of 5 year old boys arguing about whose dad is tougher..LMAO..who cares? most with a weapon (gun especially, but also a good knife or club /stick fighter) could take any of them down..so the 'toughness' depends on 'rules' being enforced

Anybody else think Jones vs Henderson is stupid? At this point Dana White no longer has the right to call out boxing for making Mayweather/Pac Man fights in which both are obviously going to win. Hes doing the same thing with Jones. "Clearing out the division" is not a good reason, when you can never clear out a division, as new fighters will always be comming in.

The only way Henderson wins is if Jones makes a mistake, then Jones would quickly regain the title back, unless Henderson absolutley dominates Jones. I cant hate on a fighter for being so dominant, but unless they start getting intresting fights underneath the main event I'm probly not gonna bother. At least the Welterweight division is finally starting to heat up. GSP is gonna have some good competition when he returns.

If you go watch MMA I think you would find a greater percentage of fit people that enjoy the fights.Many participated in boxing,martial arts or wrestling at some time.

Their all real fighting, I started off boxing young in my early teenage years, then at 18 got into training for some MMA and been doing it for 12 years. Boxing is more hand and eye cordination fighting, MMA is more tactical fighting. Your brain takes alot more abuse in boxing MMA your body takes alot more of the abuse.

however it is still a sport and sports have rules, still its a far safer and far more exciting sport than boxing will ever be.
