I'm from Didsbury and plan to be getting to the campfround on Friday when the gates open . I'm really looking forward to a weekend of meeting some new friends because I'm new to Alberta. One question about the shooters bar. Is there a fee for the shooters ? If one contributes a bottle (or portion thereof) is there still a fee? What if you don't bring a contribution yet want to do some shooters? Can someone explain to me how this works as I'd like to know what I have to bring money for besides the breakfasts ( which I'm sure looking forward to someone else cooking for me, lol). Also, I am just in sleeping in my mini van with my pup and bringing a cooler, any suggestions as to what I could bring for the pot luck meals that does not require being kept cold or cooked (or can I just put food in the fridges there) Never having been to Fort MacLeod before or to a communal campout, I could use a bit of guidance from those familiar with them. Posted: 8/26/2011 1:54:10 PM | Welcome aboard Deenie64....I'll try to answer as many of the questions for you as I can. There is NO CHARGE for the shooter bar... just something I started doing 4 years ago... all I ask is that if you partake... please help stock the bar....simple plan.
As far as the potluck goes.....maybe you could bring dinner rolls and a pound of butter for your contribution.... we can make room in the fridge for the butter I'm sure 
Just make sure to pack an open mind, sense of humor and a plan to have a great time! See no refrigeration needed!!!  I'm sure you'll have a great time and will soon become a regular, as we are one big happy family by the end of the weekend!

Deenie if you bring some kind of a liquor to donate to the shooter bar , you can drink all the shooters you want....or as many as cooker will make you (which by the way is a LOT)!!!!!!! She just does not stop...she makes up all kinds of them and will name them after you if you want!!!
As for other costs...other than the breakfasts there will be the 10 dollar a night for camping for the Fish and Game........
For potluck, you could bring some kind of dessert that does not need refridgeration but there are two fridges there to put stuff in if you need it...but the potluck is for the meal on saturday night..you are on your own for the other meals other than the breakfasts....
Any other questions...just ask away!!!!!

One thing we need is some big blue jugs of water for the camphouse....will be using a lot and doing a lot of dishes too..... (by the way a list of people will be going up for these jobs...lol) So have water on hand in case we need it..... | |

Posted: 8/28/2011 12:29:39 PM | Ok now I have one of those "Big Blue Jugs" for water I have also set it up with a hot water maker so that might help. I have tested out this contraption and it works nicely I will be there with the RV "CC" and it has a full water tank as well. Now if need be I can use the outside shower hook up to supply hot water as well. Not sure what to bring for potluck yet have options on several things will wait ans see what is needed most! I also will be there on thursday unless I have to run to the hat to kidnap someone, if so I will have to stop somewhere and pick up pink duct tape for that deed    | |

I am bringing a dessert as always and may have to be Lady Godiva if I don't find a costume here pretty soon!

Posted: 8/29/2011 11:56:18 AM | there is a huge firepit by the cookhouse that we use , they have a pile of small pieces of 2x4 but if you have wood and want to bring it that wood be great !!  so far there is no fireban there yet , the campgound management is asking us to keep a large pail of water nearby the firepit , so if anyone has a 5 gal pail or the likes it would be great ! | |
