| Women Who Smoke Posted: 5/19/2008 10:26:24 AM | It is...isn't it?.....where I live anyways....
and no, you shouldn't be subjected to second hand smoke...is 'not' frequenting smoking establishments an option....?....
|
| Women Who Smoke Posted: 5/19/2008 10:30:18 AM | | Its not banned in every place no. Unfortunately, its not always an option, like avoiding a particular bar or something. I bowl in a league and they allow smoking in there and that is pretty bothersome. | |

Just because you smoke, doesn't mean the rest of us want to inhale that crap. I wish is was banned in every establishment.
Ummmm no I don't smoke LMAO

Aww, I was so fired up too!
LOL I am sure you were. I kinda feel for smokers. They are stuck outside in all conditions to have a smoke, but my big problem with it is all the government interference in our personal lives. I know smoking is bad and so is second hand smoke but on the other hand god only knows what all in in the air we breath to begin with.
Anti-anything people and fanatics use all kinds of statistics to prove their side however you can use those same statistics to prove the other side as well. We fall into what meda throws at us and we believe it all. I just think it is time to leave smokers alone. It has gone far enough now and they feel like leppers, if they have not quit by now they won't.
Move on to new and bigger things to push more government into our lives.

| Women Who Smoke Posted: 5/19/2008 12:18:55 PM | You should move to the UK - Yawg - it's pretty much banned everywhere here. There are special leper colonies set up now for all us disgusting people with yellow teeth and fingers, but to stop us smelling so much we're allowed to stand in the open air and get rained on.
Can't say I understand the problem really OP - I don't date men who are heavy drinkers, do any form of drugs, who bore me, who are very overweight or who lie to me - that cuts out a fair proportion of the males of an age I might date. I do date non-smokers though, so long as they don't nag.
So it's your choice not to date someone who smokes. Why make an issue out of it? But the other posters are right - no-one will give up smoking for you, they will only do it for themselves so don't date anyone who smokes if you dislike it that much.

That is a brilliant idea. Guantanamo-like colonies for the smoking lepers.

| Women Who Smoke Posted: 5/19/2008 12:43:06 PM | | Or concentration camps... the smoking lepers with serial numbers tattooed on their arms, forced to wear striped pajamas (darkly nicknamed "smoking jackets") | |

| Women Who Smoke Posted: 6/18/2008 4:45:22 PM | | for me its a deal breaker. one of the few. | |
|
| Women Who Smoke Posted: 6/18/2008 4:56:42 PM | As an asthmatic I simply can't be around it. I still have horrible flashbacks of being in a car ride from D.C. to gettysburg w/my uncle when I was a kid. My uncle just smoking away for hours, the window down not improving the situation and I slowly developed an asthma attack. Its brutal and really a shame that some smokers still don't buy the second hand smoke talk. Quite simply being around smokers for any amount of time at all activates my allergies, for signigant time and I can have asthma attacks.
I sympathize to a degree, the darn things are designed to get you hooked permanently after all, but in the end, smoking is a choice, having asthma for me was genetic (asthmatics on both sides of family tree), no choice at all, so it is a deal breaker w/relationships. Dating itself? I could deal w/short term, but not long term.

| Women Who Smoke Posted: 6/18/2008 6:00:09 PM | | Smoking really bothers me but I disagree with you. I think most women don't smoke. However, A LOT of the really hot females Do smoke so you're probaly noticing a lot of the women that you'd really like to learn more about with the "somking" status. | |
|
| Women Who Smoke Posted: 6/18/2008 7:13:44 PM | Lots of men and women smoke. If you don't like it at all.....fish for non smokers! We all know about the good/bad/ugly part of smoking...but it's sometimes either: have a smoke (because it's an addiction that is very hard to quit) or kill someone !
Sad but true :) | |
|
| Women Who Smoke Posted: 6/29/2008 1:36:28 AM | I am a man who smokes. Yes smoking can kill you. But the food you eat, the water you drink, and the air you breath can kill you to. (I'm not talking from second hand smoke). Some people smoke, Some don't. If you don't want to date a smoker, than don't. It's not because people have low willpower, low self- esteem. They choose to smoke. Deal with it. I have dated women who don't smoke, and it has never been a problem in my relationships. People should be judged on merits, and how they treat people. Not on the fact they smoke. There are alot of other things people do to each other, that is a lot worse than smoking around them. I choose to smoke, and thats my choice. Just my two cent. | |
|
| Women Who Smoke Posted: 7/1/2008 2:53:25 AM | | I'm a smoker and I wish I never picked up a cigarette in the first place! But, it's an addiction and I don't have the will power to stop. Therefore, I just "date" guys who smoke as well. That way I won't feel bad about my own cigarette stink when I'm around him. | |
|
| Women Who Smoke Posted: 7/1/2008 3:36:14 AM | I have to agree some what with the OP of this thread. When I look at a profile of a lovely woman and see that she smokes often or w/e it makes me sad and is not so much a turn off that feeling bad for that person walking around with that potential smoke smell in their clothing,in their car or in their house.
I have been on elevators with women who obviously smoked heavily and these were some fine looking ladies too but omg that cloud that surrounded them about choked me out.
|
| Women Who Smoke Posted: 7/1/2008 4:50:28 PM | Its weird, Ive never smoked but spent my whole life around people who do. My parents both smoked like chimneys, and the majority of the women Ive dated have been smokers too.
I dont have a problem with it unless someone is blowing it in my face. And if you smoke Menthols, its kinda gross tasting to those of us who dont smoke so a quick drink of something before kissing is always a good idea. But beyond that, I think all of this banning of smoke everyplace is a little overdone. Especially in bars, which theyve recently done in my area. I mean, cmon...if you go to a bar, you just expect there's going to be smokers.
Im hardly going to sit and worry about 2nd hand smoke when there are so many other things polluting my air. Trucks, Airplanes, oil refinerys, and even my old car whose exhaust system is less than stellar. lol! I think the fanatics about the non-smoking laws need to get a grip. If youre going to get lung cancer, it isnt going to be from 2nd-hand smoke. Try looking at the trucks on your local interstate and look at regulating that a bit!
|
| Women Who Smoke Posted: 7/1/2008 11:06:11 PM | | ^Especially trucks that are hauling cigarettes. | |
|
| Women Who Smoke Posted: 7/8/2008 10:38:48 PM | | I'm a non-smoker but I find women smoking very sexy.A real turn on to me. | |
|
| Women Who Smoke Posted: 7/10/2008 6:30:58 AM | Adding 2 more cents NoMore... so we will equal 4. I agree with u. I have dated men that don't smoke and out of respect for them either do not smoke around them or ask if they would mind most of the time they dont care and I just stand away from them. Yes I am trying to quit but relationships are about respect and communication. Judging someone on merits shows who the real losers are. That shows that you can be superficial and are not willing to see someone's TRUE self. Smoking does not display a person's heart, kindness, generosity, and potential. And for those of you griping about odor, taste, etc. FYI some of us smokers are conscious of that. I am never far from gum!! My clothes are clean and I take great pride in how I present myself, some smokers do not. | |
|
| Women Who Smoke Posted: 7/28/2008 2:16:31 PM | | Fish for Non-smokers. Don't worry us smokers probably don't want a self-righteous non-smoker either. | |
|
| Women Who Smoke Posted: 7/28/2008 2:20:58 PM | have you ever noticed how fat or weight-phobic our culture has become?
want to know the single biggest reason women list for not quitting?
yep.
weight gain.
crazy eh?
so much healthier to have a smoke than to let your body's metabolism slow down a tiny bit!

| Women Who Smoke Posted: 7/28/2008 6:20:03 PM | | I think you dont have to date a woman smoker. Sure it may narrow down search but we all do that in different ways. I wont date anyone shorter than me or carrying too much weight. Its my personal preferance and Im not gonna date someone who I need to change to suit me as that isnt fair at all and too much like an upward battle and you dont have the right to impose your wishes on someone else and pressure them. If you dont want a smoker fine I cant see the issue? Me Id rather meet a smoker as I am one! | |
|
| Women Who Smoke Posted: 7/29/2008 12:30:53 PM | | I agree pennylane57.....Lots of men and women smoke (I'm one of them but not a heavy smoker) And I say the same thing if you don't like smokers then keep fishing there are plenty of non-smokers out there too.....and it is an addiction and it is sad I know.....someday | |
|
| Women Who Smoke Posted: 7/29/2008 3:18:20 PM | | I am a smoker who only date other smokers now . I went on one date with a non smoker and all he did was whine at me about smoking, but yet I didn't smoke the entire time we was on our date . | |
