Posted: 10/9/2011 5:04:18 PM | No matter how attractive your SO is to you, you're going to find others attractive, you're going to appreciate beauty in other people. If the person you're dating honestly thinks you'll never look at anyone else, they're kidding themselves.
It's one thing to mention someone's hot in a movie (why is that a big deal?), or say something about a person once in a great while when you're out. If it's constant to the point where it monopolizes all conversation, then she's either looking to add someone to the party, she's trying to get a rise out of you, or she's looking for the next thing.
I've dated guys where we've commented about someone who's attractive - either male or female (honestly, female usually though - I care less about a guy noticing a woman then men seem to care when it's vice versa). It's not that big a deal to me, overall - nor should it be to them. | |

But if you're comfortable with your partner and you know that you'll be in the same bed by the end of the night...then it may not be as bad...
I personally don't mind a every so often IRL comment, and never really care if she thinks Edward or Jacob is hot, as long as she don't mind I think Jennifer Lopez is hot. But every guy she sees then it would make me feel uncomfortable.... | |

I dunno. I've rarely had that happen. More common is having a girlfriend ask me if I think some woman is hot.
I'm a guy, so why would I care! It's just an "innocent comment", they say, whatever...why would I possibly need to know?
Curiosity? I'm usually sort of surprised by what a woman considers a hot guy and I almost always guess wrong. So, when a woman does make a comment about a guy who looks hot, usually wonder why.

I'll bite, no I'm not the hottest guy in the world but that doesn't mean I don't think its rude to comment on every hot guy that passes. Sure look at the merchandise maybe even a couple of times but know that you've already got one...and no there is no double standard for me.
I might say something around my buddies, as I know women do the same too, about dang look at that one. But never around my s/o. I would respect her and expect the same. That's all most of us want.

A bit of an overreaction, frankly. It's barely a blip compared to some very real relationship problems that could occur.

In my case that's not actually true, as I'm not insecure enough to freak out over a comment like that, but thanks for painting me with the all inclusive brush. Looking at attractive women doesn't bother me, I'm simply not that insecure. Date women who aren't hypocrites, and this won't be an issue.

I am sure very few men have dated a woman who comments on every hot guy that passes. Sounds terrible though when it's explained that way, doesn't it? In my case there aren't that many hot guys passing by to comment on, and that's half the reason.
Appreciating good looking men isn't even close to the same as thinking any of them are hotter than the guy I'm dating, so for men who see it that way - WHY do you see it that way? It has to be a bad and likely inaccurate view of yourself, no?
I'm different though, I'll sit my guy at a bar and watch him from across the room to see how many women hit on him, or we'll split up and collect phone numbers to win a bet. I'll take a guy I'm dating to a strip club and we'll sit and pick apart the dancers. It's all entertainment outside the house to me.

If the men are movie stars...the odds of your girlfriend getting with one of those actors is like 0.000001% chance lol. If she keeps bringing it up like 24/7, then yeah it might get a little annoying....but I suggest you mention an actress that you think is hot too. If your girlfriend gets upset about that, tell her she does it too (and now she knows how annoying it can be). Well I didn't say every guy that passes but every hot guy that passes. I've witnessed it, not with my g/f but my sister doing this to her ex husband. He couldn't even look up at the waitress without getting yelled at, but she would whistle and cat call some dude walking down the street while she was driving. If not driving with her head out the window. Pretty freaking rude if ya ask me.
I'm sorry to sound so terrible because I try not to generalize but this is a little bit of a flux for me because I've seen it happen, never to me, but me being the by standard when it happened. | |

And I thought I had PW. It actually wouldn't have occurred to me to look at much less comment on hot women until one day I was staring of into space and my fiancee mistakenly thought I was looking at some waitress. She told me I could look as long as I didn't touch, so now I look.

Now you're changing the entire scenario. That's a far cry different from looking and commenting, so let's get back to the original issue of commenting on hot guys, not your socially awkward sister and her ex husband with terminal PW. . If my fiancee comments on a hot guy, I usually wonder what it is about him that makes him hot, since I have no clue at all. Women always surprise me by the guys they'll pick as hot, so most of the time, my response is something like, ``Seriously? Why?'' I use to be bothered by that sort of thing when I was younger, but now I'm just amused by it. | |
