What upsets me more, is when I see a good-looking girl with a loser guy.
I'm sure you all know what I mean: a very attractive, caring, and intelligent woman, but quite often shy and a little insecure, walking around with a Burberry baseball cap-wearing idiot with his trousers tucked into his socks, who will spend the rest of his life driving his souped-up Nova between the Dole Office and the chippy, and slouching in front of the TV.
Perhaps I'm just a snob, but so many women could do so much better for themselves - maybe by grabbing a "geek".
I totally agree with you, theonetruetroy. That, and the fact that it's a gross generalization to say that stunning women go for geeks. It's outright rare as far as I'm concerned. | |

My guesss is that it all depends on the types of women they are. But, many women would love to be seen with the men that are admired and respected by many people.
These geeky people are intelligent, sophiscated and motivational. In general, they also have excellent communication, leadership and people skills.
I also saw one documentary recently saying that geeks are in. Nowadays, most young people are somewhat geeky, if they love tech gadgets. And we all know, these gadgets are geeks' symbols and domains. | |

Posted: 4/18/2007 2:23:39 PM | I'm going to start seeking a average/geeky type...I'm tired of men treating us so bad..I sat down one day for a espresso and looked around all the men were average or goofy looking but they had nice looking woman and they both looked happy ...so looks are not everything a nice deminar personality is very helpful...
Women want to be treated nicely,loved and appreciated...you men may not think so..but we do...
As much as some guys are nice, saddley a few rotton ones have ruined it for us women...
I rather have a man who is not the hottested man in the room ..but know that he is amazing to me ..Its like so many don't get it!!!!!!!!!!!!
For a woman its important that the man she is involved with thinks she is beautiful...she does not care what some stranger types in a email....we hear it all the time on here how pretty we are..that means the most from a man we love and our kids... 
Most pretty boy's have no character and its sad when they need the mirror more than the women do... | |

Am I a geek because I am intelligent , have a mind, do not conform to normal, drive a Ford Escort, not a Porsche? Work for love not money and I would hope I was totally and unselfishly kind. Not in the way of giving brass farthings, I can't rustle up those. SO I havn't got you, you geek lovin' woman.

I'm a pretty girl and the last four guys Ive been attracted to have good jobs, working with computers, big deal, that doesn't make them geeks. I also have a Masters degree, a wicket joband don't expext anyone to provide solely for me and "offspring", Iearn my half, so i take offense to your post and others like yours

For us 'geeks' ... we think 'geeky' is about being into things most other men (and women) aren't: sci-fi, technology, reading (even comic books), podcasts, ren fairs, science, cults and obscure films and TV shows (MST3K!!!). They'd watch 'Heros' before they'd watch a hockey game. They'd eat sushi before they eat a burger. They're not afraid to try new things... they listen to music that other people have NEVER even heard of. They have a fish named 'Spock' ... :)

Do you mean by this that good looking women are shallow?? I would like to point out that many beautiful women are genuinely interested in finding someone real. As with men, some women are just looking for sex (goes for both attractive and nonattractive ones), some women are also looking for money. But I would bet that the majority are looking to be happy and find someone who they click with.
Personally (not saying I am ubergorgeous or anything) if a person sparks my interest by talking with them, I will likely find something attractive about them physically. Just because a guy is a geek doesnt mean he isn't attractive. Also, just cause you are hot as hell doesn't mean she is going to want to sleep with you. Believe it or not...looks AREN"T everything. | |

A good heart in a plain body far off sets a beautiful face/body with a bad, selfish, vain, and uncaring heart.
For those guys looking for the quick lay with a beautiful women, it's so easy to do, just hire the professional escort girl of your choice, you can have anything you want for a price, and she will even pretend to enjoy it. It beats playing long-winded mind games with a woman, just to leave her hurt and empty after you either do or don't get into her pants.
Not a pud or a wimp, and no, certainly not gay, but perhaps a bit of a guy from the past. Nothing wrong in my eyes with spoiling a woman and pampering her, and treating her with utter kindness and respect. If that doesn't work, I would rather be alone. | |

A geek need not look like Steve Urkel or Robert Carradine's Lou Skolinick character.
The lead singer of the band BOSTON went to MIT and studied Electrical Engineering.
Sting was an English teacher from what I heard. Come to think of it, there are attractive and very smart people who wind up in Hollywood and play the part of comedies as goofy & funny characters.
Maybe it is simply this, a geek will take the time to communicate with the person of the opposite sex. Communication is the key. | |

Posted: 5/11/2007 8:18:39 PM | I got 6 years of post-secondary education in computers / electrical engineering (and still counting) and have worked on computers since I was 2 years old. Looks like I got the geek thing down yet no ladies. Perhaps I forgot to carry a one or something.
I think defining what a geek is has become very difficult. The word means different things to different people, it's used by too large a populous with too lose a definition to nail down. I think the closest definition is wikipedia's
"A geek is an individual who is fascinated by knowledge and imagination, usually electronic or virtual in nature. "
If you are the sort of person who is attracted to the mental more than the physical I could see the appeal in that, especially the imagination part. | |

It is equally important to understand that anyone can be a nerd; however, geeks are a in a class of their own, in a good way.
