| Principal ordered Bush portrait removed from class Posted: 7/30/2005 9:33:40 AM | | What is happening, secular humanism. In the schools and universities. I was ridiculed myself by a professor in the class for saying evolution was false. Liberals are coming down on people of faith all over the USA. See what Jay Sekulow has to do to combat these who are prejudiced against Christians. Professors who give bad grades to students who have conservative views. I went to a liberal college and many times wished I didn't. What a waste of time to have to have liberal professors who are all wacked out. | |

| Principal ordered Bush portrait removed from class Posted: 7/30/2005 9:52:19 AM | I read the first post in this forum thinking it was about a struggle between 2 women of opposing political beliefs. It sounded like a struggle between one in power and one without power. Somehow we got involved with who started the Vietnam War. We had a post comparing Bush to Saddam with public sculptures. Is everyone so radicalized politically that we as a nation, as a world, have distilled every issue into US vs THEM? Is every issue conservative vs liberal?
By the way, where are the moderators who are supposed to keep threads on topic?

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HECK NO!!!
Who said "you're either for us or against us", anyway? Who brought Monica into the Whitewater investigation? Who AWARDED the White House to George Bush while stopping the vote count and allowing Republicans to premark ballots so they wouldn't get counted AND disrupt the counting procedure so it wouldn't get done on time? Who outed a CIA agent to get back at her husband for revealing the president lied about not knowing Saddam didn't have nuclear weapons?
HOW could it possibly be "Us vs. Them"?
NO nononononononono... it's THEM vs. US... Are you with us or against US Robert?

To be honest: This is what it's like when someone has a perfect propaganca machine, much like Hitler.
The voters aren't given a chance to vote and the vote count is stopped. The "right" guy is appointed president. The majority agrees anyway. A military hero runs against the president. The president was a deserter. Everyone looks at rumors created by the president's side about the military hero's war record and shakes their head... paying no mind to the presiden't disgraceful acts. A president takes money out of the public retirement system and gives half of it to the richest five percent. he calls it a "tax cut" even though his budget was higher than the government revenue and it's actually debt that will have to be repaid in full. the public swallows it, hook line and sinker.
NO... I'm against him and the only people I'm against who are against him are people trying to kill Americans. I totally sympathize with anyone who takes down George Bush's portrait. 'Nuff said.

| Principal ordered Bush portrait removed from class Posted: 7/30/2005 4:47:10 PM | DanQ.........Have you tried anger management? I really am sorry you are that angry. I have voted in elections where my candidate didnt win. I never felt the need to bear a cross after the election. The Supreme Court ruled on the legality of the election. Do you contend the Supreme Court was bribed to give Bush the election?
Nittany.......Thanks for your agreement. It is tiresome to see the same old arguments drug up time after time from either side. I don't remember seeing this much discord during the civil rights movement or the Vietnam War and those were very divisive issues. If we don't unite as a nation soon the terrorists won't have to destroy us. We will do it to ourselves.

The Supreme Court ruled on the legality of the election. Do you contend the Supreme Court was bribed to give Bush the election? Just to play devil's advocate before I scoot out of here, you DO know that it wasn't "legal" for the US Supreme Court to even hear the case, right? (although that's really another thread.)
If we don't unite as a nation soon the terrorists won't have to destroy us. We will do it to ourselves. Well, we certainly aren't helping ourselves, that's for sure.

| Principal ordered Bush portrait removed from class Posted: 7/30/2005 5:06:57 PM | Nittany.............When you return lay out your reasoning for why the Supreme Court should not have heard the FL election case. It is my recollection the Supreme Court merely acknowledged that FL had the right to manage its own election. The Supreme Court did not declare a winner in Bush vs Gore. My memory isnt as sharp as it used to be so I like to review issues from time to time. And there are so many more issues to review now. Wow!!!!

| Principal ordered Bush portrait removed from class Posted: 7/30/2005 5:52:00 PM | The short answer, (not that there really is one) is that the Consitution assigns states the responsibility of governing its own elections. It is the responsibility of state supreme courts to interpret state law, and they have the final say (there are exceptions, like when there is a substantial federal question, but here there was not.) There was no appropriate federal question for the Court to hear. Disagreement with a state SC's interpretation of state law is not enough to allow review by the US SC. (Maybe this WOULD be an interesting thread...)
If you read the opinion, they even make it clear that the Bush v. Gore decision is not to set precedent (which is generally one of the main consequences/effects of a US SC decision; it sets binding case law precedent.) The FBI would call that a clue; I call it a red flag.
Anywho, sorry for the digression on the thread.

| Principal ordered Bush portrait removed from class Posted: 7/30/2005 5:56:47 PM | Conservatives love stories like this, because they can play the poor victim against the big scary liberal conspiracy (in this case, one individual guy).
This thing is ALL over republican/conservative blogs like a virus. And its true, this woman has indeed filed a lawsuit claiming this. Whether she's telling the whole story or not remains to be seen. I've seem to remember a similar story earlier this year about a different case where there turned out to be much more to than the teachers allegations.
But anyway, she shouldn't be fired for having a picture of the President in the classroom, thats for sure. Any Principal that did that should be fired himself. In fact the story is so ridiculous, and only talks about what the woman's lawsuit claims, that I'm guessing there is a lot more to this story.

| Principal ordered Bush portrait removed from class Posted: 7/30/2005 6:00:05 PM | Alien, I have to agree that the info I've seen so far is so one-sided that it's certainly suspect.
I also think it's a shame that this issue is turning into a political one. It's a legal issue, and simply because the photo happened to be of dubya, it's getting way too much attention. There are wrongful termination suits going on every day; it has nothing to do with politics. Grr.

Note: "People of faith" is a codeword for "fundamentalist christian". Other religions don't count. And other christians don't count either. Dinosaurs are tools of Satan!

| Principal ordered Bush portrait removed from class Posted: 7/30/2005 7:05:36 PM | Robert: I didn't apologize to YOU
Secondly, I do well managing my anger. Your neocon is showing by attacking my lapse in temperament and changing the subject of what I was talking to you about.
THAT was not about me. That was about what's going on, and you're ignoring it isn't going to make it any better. YOUR guys (bush and the republicans) made it us vs. them... so don't go whining to me and telling me he's a "uniter and not a divider" AFTER he's stolen about 1 trillion dollars out of our retirement system and tried to tell us it was a tax cut and lied to start a war.
So, the more classrooms who kick the slime's picture out, the better.

YOUR guys (bush and the republicans) made it us vs. them... so don't go whining to me and telling me he's a "uniter and not a divider" I get myself in enough trouble with my own words. You don't need to put words into my mouth. I never said anything about Bush being a uniter. The truth is that I don't see anyone in politics now from either party who would qualify as a uniter. They are all engaged in mud wrestling for $$$$$. You can quote me on that one.

| Principal ordered Bush portrait removed from class Posted: 7/31/2005 1:51:05 PM | As I said before, Bush v. Gore. Bush was the plaintiff, and when it got to the US SC, he was the appellant Gore was the defendant, and when it got to the US SC, he was the appellee.
I don't know why you're asking me these questions. If you'd like to make a point, make a point.

| Principal ordered Bush portrait removed from class Posted: 7/31/2005 3:48:37 PM | ha ha ha ha, what a funny (yet sad) story of the government schools! That is some funny stuff. I hope that the principal gets the boot, but we all know that it takes an act of God to get someone working for the government fired.
I do appreciate the irony however. A government worker, in this case a principal, orders the removal of a picture of the boss, the head honcho of the US Government. Yet she wasn't outraged enough to quick and stop getting a check from Uncle Sam, eh?
Funny stuff here! | |
