| Should weed be legal? Posted: 12/2/2004 11:13:48 PM | | Cigarettes, what a joke! Every 40 to 50 minutes my coworkers all have to leave, stand in front of the building and smoke, taking up 10 to 20 minutes of company time. Basically, nicotine addicts get over an extra hour off of work a day!!! Losers!!! | |

| Should weed be legal? Posted: 12/3/2004 7:40:42 AM | Teens and young adults who frequently use marijuana are at higher risk of developing psychotic symptoms later in life.
New study just released.....soooo....guess this may shut-up those who are stating "it does NO harm"....cause, as I have said before...it IS a drug...it DOES harm....and it IS a gateway drug whether those in denial about it like it or not.
Let's still legalize it and tax the heck out of it tho!

| Should weed be legal? Posted: 12/3/2004 9:41:02 AM | | Anybody agree that smokers get more time off work per day than non smokers? Just because they are addicts, they get to goof off for about an hour a day. | |
|
| Should weed be legal? Posted: 12/3/2004 9:42:04 AM | | i agree, they should be allowed to smoke inside, so it does not interfer w/ their work! | |

| Should weed be legal? Posted: 12/3/2004 11:20:06 AM | | well as opposed to smoking cigarrettes.. and its effect to second hand smoke.. marijuana is a little different.. and you can get a contact high off that.. kinda like a person that doesnt want to smoke it.. has to "deal with it" when someone around them is.. | |
|
| Should weed be legal? Posted: 12/3/2004 11:21:55 AM | ***IMPORTANT FACT***
2nd hand smoke has never been medically proven to cause cancer!! Dont believe what you read, research urself!!!!

| Should weed be legal? Posted: 12/3/2004 3:26:23 PM | | Yna- you say users are at a higher risk of psychotic episode than non users but how do you know how reliable that study is? Do you know for sure that all these people in the studies would not have had psychotic episodes without weed? Also how many were in the study and how many studies did they do? If it was only one I would question who paid for the study itself.. We know how involved the chemical companies and drug manufacturers are in keeping it illegal. I have a handfull of other studies that point to no long term ill effects. So I guess you think "Reefer Madness" was a true documentary. | |

While you say second hand smoke is harmless, go into a room that weed is being smoked and tell me if you don't get a contact high.
|
| Should weed be legal? Posted: 12/3/2004 7:53:52 PM | | calm down koi, we were joking about the porn, it wasnt a real point!! Contact high is a smokers myth!! I smoked pot for 6 yrs and believed it, but i quit 2yrs ago and i have been in rooms when people were smoking and had no effect, except smelly clothes!! | |

| Should weed be legal? Posted: 12/5/2004 6:06:22 AM | HEmo industry is alive and well in Canada. We have the Hemp Store where you can buy t-shirts made from it, etc. Some places still make rope from it, which, during the war, was a big-time industry. Afterwards the factories closed down, reducing the demand for it, tossing people out of work, etc, and it became a controlled substance to grow, much like tobacco....you need a license to grow it when ordering seed, unless you are only ordering a very small amount. Some places the hemp plants still thrive and grow wild in Ontario.
Studies...too many of them done on pot, ALL of which have indicated harmful side effects, etc. Many of them have indicated the "gateway" effect also...way too much evidence to even harbour the thought that it is definitly NOT one.
Inhalation of almost any kind of smoke or fumes over a period of time, is going to have a detrimental effect on the lungs.
2nd hand smoke has caused cancer in non-smokers...too much evidence to ignore this one. I think smokers should have a "smoke room" rather than having to run outside for a butt....smokers have rights too!!
Some courts are using smoking versus non-smoking as a "point in favour" during custody battles!
So...it is not just ONE study...but many, from many different sources. "Reefer Madness"..lol...yeah...a REAL documentary there...but then again...ever see anyone on some of the harder drugs? Damned close to the same reactions in some cases.
Just because YOU don't get a "contact high" means your body has created a tolerance for certain levels of drugs. I know I can get a contact high very easily....had it happen. So there is no use in disbeleieving in it just because you don't have it happen.

Posted: 12/5/2004 6:32:54 AM | | Which leads us to banning things that are harmful...cigs, alcohol, etc.....a perfectly good excuse to milk MORE tax money out of the citizens and it is being by-passed. Also...there IS that other small taxable thing called "munchies".....which could take a BIG increase in sales....which leads to more health problems.....

| Should weed be legal? Posted: 12/5/2004 12:20:10 PM | Lets ban cars too they smell. Their second hand smoke is without question deadly. Put your self in the garage with a car running and you will be dead in 20-30 minutes. Put yourself in the garage with a smoker (Cigarettee) you might die by the time you are 90 years of age...
So, that second hand smoke stuff is BS. The banning of smoking in public buildings is also BS. The whole cigarettee smoking debate isn't really about cigarettes at all. It's about social control! It's social engineering at its finest form of course it had another name in a different time it was called "Seprate but Equal" you know the JIM CROW laws...
Soon their will be smokers only water fountains, smokers entrances, smokers bathrooms etc,.
If we want to agrue about safety then ban all automobiles Shouldn't they all already have a Surgeon General Warning label on it: "Quitting driving now greatly reduces serious risk to your health ." OR "The operation of this vehicle may be hazardous to your health"
C'mon people wake up don't let the social engineering nazis pull the ruse they are trying to get away with.
Cannibis should be legal and those who oppose its legalization should be banned.

| Should weed be legal? Posted: 12/5/2004 12:59:46 PM | I have witnessed a cigarette start a grass fire. It finally convinced my smoking friend who caused it that smokers should be a heck of a lot more careful with their little burning addict stick. We put it out because I happened to see it start a few minutes later after I saw him toss the butt over in the area it started.
Burn down your own house from smoking, your problem. Burn down an apartment building from smoking, your fault, and other people suffer from your nicoteen addiction.

| Should weed be legal? Posted: 12/5/2004 1:10:34 PM | The choice should be mine.
I have been prescribed two drugs in the past two years that have been pulled off the shelf by the FDA not too long after the FDA approved them. Both have caused deaths. Vioxx is one of them, and the FDA has even admitted they faked their own test results!!!!
I took Vioxx for three months, then it was pulled from the market. Funny how the pharmasist one time tells me the safe way to take it, then next time tells me it is not available because it has killed people.
The US government refuses to examine cannabis in any unbiased way. They told you Vioxx was safe, but wait, now it's not. The government lies. If you believe the US government's stance on cannabis, you believe a lie.
