I don't see the difference between wearing skirts above the knee and shorts...
I have asked a couple of men why men will closely watch a woman in a short skirt but not as much in shorts. Both gave me the same reply: shorts are shorts--if they fit right, a woman can bend over and still be modest, and the wind will not blow the legs of shorts up to expose anything.
On the other hand, when a woman wears a short skirt, there is the possibility of seeing up the skirt--she might bend over unwisely or the wind can blow it up.
I find that wearing a thin, long skirt is just as cool as wearing shorts or short skirt; I like to vary my wardrobe.

Well, yeah. As long as he doesn't cat-call, make a lewd comment, or display other inappropriate behavior, what's wrong with that? I am not going to avoid wearing something that IS appropriate to wear because men check out my legs or a bit of cleavage.

| skirt length when over 50 Posted: 7/22/2012 8:21:44 AM | | That is totally wrong! I am 50 and 150cm is way past my neck to my ankles lol. I'm also a dressmaker and I always advise my customers, depending on their height and figure-body type. For example Joan Collins is 78 yrs old and she looks fab wearing her skirts 2 inches above her knee..Enough said..... | |

| skirt length when over 50 Posted: 7/22/2012 1:31:37 PM | | I guess I don't consider two inches above the knee as being a mini skirt... I am thinking mid thigh... I agree a couple of inches above the knee looks good on most any woman... I wear shorts but not short shorts... and love my capri's... when its a 100 + nothing feels cool... | |

| skirt length when over 50 Posted: 7/22/2012 2:04:23 PM | That was cute, Gwendolyn :)
I'm a bit shy now that I'm older. I don't fault others for showing their legs, cleavage etc.

Ah, my dear . . . have you gotten "shyer" because society has told you that women over a certain age shouldn't do this or that?
being over 50 you have an image to maintain.
And what image is that? That because I am almost 60, that I should lack sex appeal? That I should be matronly and staid? That I should be in the kitchen baking cookies for my grandchildren? Because people will disrespect me if I do not conform to arbitrary societal constraints and expectations?
|
| skirt length when over 50 Posted: 7/22/2012 4:28:45 PM | You could be right, Gwendolyn
When I was younger I used to enjoy the attention. I guess I still do, but in a quieter way :)

| skirt length when over 50 Posted: 7/23/2012 8:28:09 AM | | IF you are a lady you can reach the ground without bending over and I dont bend over in shorts or pants. | |

Posted: 2/1/2012 10 24 PM I have to wonder if some of these women who have rules about skirt length and hair length also have a rule about how much cleavage a woman over 50 should be showing! Is there a rule for how many inches above the nipples must be covered? ...I was just flipping through the rule book on cleavage and it says at least an inch above the nipple would be acceptable, any less would be "showing off" ...mae [/quote} Crap, now everyone will see my belly button! Iffy (who has a 36 in inseam and wears her skirts 4-5 in above the knee and still gets looks... Thank the Gods... it takes the focus off the 36 in long boobs.) lmao

| skirt length when over 50 Posted: 7/29/2012 1:59:55 AM | Hey just wear what makes you feel good. If you get a few admiring glances why not. Just above the knee may over emphasise the knees. If you know how to do it mid thigh can look best. You'll have worked out how to pick things up without bending over and how to sit without giving the game away! Just enjoy. If it makes you smile that's good too! | |

| skirt length when over 50 Posted: 7/30/2012 2:16:21 PM | | There is a formula for wearing skirts: Measure the inseam of your pant leg, subtract an inch for every year over 20 you are , until you reach 30, and that is how far from the ground your skirt hem should be when standing. | |

| skirt length when over 50 Posted: 8/3/2012 7:57:54 AM | Wow Donnie- thats pretty analytic-and of course it would take two people. I'll stick with two inches above the knees, and yes, I get compliments. Thanks girls for the insight. | |

| skirt length when over 50 Posted: 8/3/2012 2:07:21 PM | As short as you feel confident to wear OP. I have good legs and I wear very short sometimes, especially in the summer. I don't care about the age thing so long as when I look in the mirror it tells me I look great!
I also like long skirts and dresses and regularly wear those for my ballroom dancing. I don't let society dictate what I should or should not wear and neither do I let fashion dictate. I love dressing up and looking very girlie.

| skirt length when over 50 Posted: 8/3/2012 3:45:05 PM | If you have good legs.... wear as short a skirt as you want. Cus good legs are ageless. and always in style. :-P | |

| skirt length when over 50 Posted: 8/4/2012 6:43:25 AM | MOST men have very good imaginations. I've learned over the years that if you have VERY nice legs a man will ALMOST always imagine that your above the knee length skirt is shorter than it really is.
I will wear mine an inch or two above the knee. I would feel silly with it any shorter. But that's just MHO.
|
| skirt length when over 50 Posted: 8/5/2012 7:15:15 AM | | I believe you should wear what you like and what feels comfortable for you. I know I am older but I feel attractive in what I wear. Just because I show a little leg does not make look like I am trying too hard. My skirts are shorter but think I dress with some class. | |
