When they talk about their ex. Like, at all. Very elementary dating faux pas.
I would agree with that for the very young who have not lived long enough to have spent years of their life doing things with someone.
As people get older the likelihood that they have spent most of their adult life with someone is much higher. Almost 20 years of my adult life was spent doing things with my ex - am I supposed to never refer to any of those things? Some of my funniest stories involve being somewhere with my ex, even if he wasn't actually involved in the episode I'm talking about.
It wouldn't phase me at all if someone mentioned their ex in passing; it would bother me a lot if that was all they could talk about or they were still needing to slag them off. | |

or they were still needing to slag them off. yes, that's the key in a way. Their attitude towards their ex says a lot about how they handle conflict and how nasty they can get when they're crossed. It shows how realistic they might be about their own part in problems that have gone down and how much understanding they might have of issues. If a person is still slagging off the ex it could be that they're still working through the breakup and aren't really emotionally ready for a new relationship. | |

& even when i did, & yes i did date a lady a couple of time that was well off, we pay for our own..
as this is what she wanted.
this was always said, in an emials or phone calls before the date/meeting.
as the girls did not want to be holding to anyone
i get it, dont have a problem with that at all.

Posted: 6/24/2012 3:12:17 PM | Yes taking calls on the phone has to be up there unless like me I had a daughter due to have her baby and told my date if she went into labor I would do a runner but we had talked about that before the meet up.
Another thing is when someone has to go outside to have a smoke every half hr and leaves me on my own I have no wish to stand out in the cold with them. Which is why I prefer to date (when I actually do.lol) non smokers. I don't dismiss people out of hand because they smoke, I did many years ago but I would have to be pretty keen on them.
One other thing is the expectation that because I have agreed to meet up I am willing to sneak off to a hotel for some naughty business.. | |

Rejection is never pretty on either side of the fence.
I am not the most judgemental of people (well, at least I think I am not)
but, I have met men that wanted to enslave boat people for the good of the nation, another who was a male stripper in a former life (ewwwww - no seriously, how many women had been there? [even as I am posting this I can see how it is judgemental] and one that could use nothing but 4 letter words to describe his ex --- hmmm is that me in a future conversation?)
Online dating is not what we thought 'dating' was...
Oh, I kind of think a dating feedback form would be a good thing...

I usually just give them a philosophical sounding quote. Doesn't matter what it is about or who said it... they'll run a mile, guaranteed

- Posting an inaccurate photo (eg 10 years/kilos ago)
- Posting someone ELSE's photo!!
- Being presumptuous and suggestive on first (subsequently last) date
- Constantly criticising their ex
- Constantly seeking sympathy about their previous bad relationships
- Acting too needy and over enthusiastic, ie requesting your availability for the next week when you are barely through your first drink and have already hinted that you have a very busy schedule for the next 2 years ...
- Changing/extending the date by ordering a bottle of wine and a meal when it was just meant to be a quick drink/coffee (this by the way is only a hate if you don't like the date otherwise it's fantastic!)
- Wearing your teenage son's surf gear and accessories when you're 42.
- Wearing your grandfather's Argyle vest. | |
