No! It would be wonderful. With your lilting Welsh voice (I'm assuming here that the female Welsh voice is lilting), you could sing the following, borrowed from another post ...
"Yewer lush, yewer. (You are luscious.) Fa-la-la-la-la-la-la!"
"Duw, 'e's men-tal, 'e is. Proper 'ead case. (My God, he's mental, a real head case.) Fa-la-la-la-la-la-la!"

I have indeed serenaded a couple of times. I sang a song I wrote ( a LONG time ago) to the woman I wrote it for, and she didn't mind. I also sang songs I didn't write, as a part of my sister's wedding ceremony, and that went well, even though her marriage didn't.
I might do it again, if the circumstances move me, I'm that kind of guy. But no, I have never been serenaded, so I don't know what I have put others through yet.

Either way, my position on this side of the bridge is somewhat tenuous. One doesn't like to push one's luck, especially if one has ever heard a Welsh male voice choir.
Proper, it is bach.
(That's "bach" as in "small" used as a term of endearment, not Bach the composer).

We both knew what he meant by singing it...it was his way of saying, don't be uncomfortable, have fun, no worries. I did just that. I sang to my new fellow at the beach when we first met. There were a few of us jamming and I just started to make up silly lyrics about Bling, (decoration) reflecting the sunny days ahead. He knew I was talking about him and we are still seeing each other. I think if it's sung kind of fun, then there is not so much "weirdness" about it and it can have the desired results.

So, I sang Dream a Little Dream to him. I guess he liked it.

He made a video with his cell phone of him, topless, playing the guitar and singing to my Facebook profile pictures (his friend was clicking through the album at the same time)...
I'd just wait until you are both crazy for each other. Otherwise, it will likely not end up too well...

I had to laugh at some of the stories in here, though. I never met a woman personally, who didn't like it. (though the timing and mood are critical) and especially the song..... better, if it's original - and for her.
I'd say it works just fine, when you know what you're doing.
