Old and alone. Page 3 of 3    (1, 2, 3)
I'm determined to die in the middle of the sales floor on a Tuesday morning - that'll have 'em.
Knew someone whose uncle died in Harrods Food Hall - now that's class....................

most people fear dying alone as in some cases it can take several days!.
ie stroke,heartattack, etc.
mind you odds wont improve much if you end up in nhs "departure lounge" at least you wont die alone!

For me I am not too bothered if I don't have a partner into or during proper old age

yep, same here, although I've made my nieces vow they will pluck my eyebrows and gimme a quick wax if I'm unable till the bitter end.

vvvvv......so sorry to hear that Rose......you know how I feel about losing loved ones.

My beloved Nan died last week. Her husband of 60 years and 2 of her children by her side. So many family members came to visit her while she was in hospital the nurse commented she had never seen the like. She was so loved by everyone.
I don't want to be alone when I get old.

Bless you Rosie, Im so sorry for your loss but at least your dear Nan was surrounded by her loved ones at the end. I still miss my beloved Nanny 16 years after she passed.

reading through the posts it really surprises me how many people have said it doesn't bother them.
It scares the living shite out of me to think I might be old and alone :S

My eldest informed me the other day that I would be moving in with her, lol I'm not sure if I would want that but it's nice that she is thinking along those lines. I have only got two daughters, My mum has 4 of us, not sure it makes it any easier but she says she does feel blessed.

^^^ It is lovely to read that.
This day and age is far removed from what used to be in years gone by for many of us. These days kids move away for work or are too busy with their own lives to want it disrupted by looking after their parents in their last years. Today very many elderly people do not see anyone cross their door for weeks at a time, save for maybe a home care worker.

When my time is come, I have absolutely no mental issues about shuffling off on my own - at least I won't have someone in my left ear demanding that I use the satnav.........
