After taking a look at the guys who are looking for friends, I think that's probably the case. There are some men looking for FWB. These men aren't willing to get emotionally close to someone to build a relationship with a woman, but they don't want to miss out on sex. Then there are other men who want a good relationship with someone; however, they don't want to let in just anyone. They want to partner up with someone who has similar religious viewpoints and they want to test out respect and trust issues before getting involved. I suspect that the few guys who just want to hang out with people and do things as friends also have trust issues. | |

I like to chat and bs online even if it's not a romantic pursuit. then again, I'm not sure what I want. I would like to date more though. chicks just don't seem to dig me irl or on here. I guess I'm cool with that (have to be i suppose), but a bit more interaction would be kinda fun. That's the bottom line, at least have some fun. But I'm with you on the profiles, they do make you a little crazy looking at all of them. btw, I'm really new to this. I think you are an awesome lady, Jac, judging by your posts, and I always chuckle when you mention the' village'. I lived in a village for about 20 minutes, years ago, ...I just couldn't ... you can't be "new" in a village.

Or maybe they grew up in the type of family that spent all free time with family and they suddenly find themselves without those people to interact with. They might have a job with weird hours relative to existing real world friends. Maybe they are too freaked out about the remaining slight stigma related to online dating and can meet people without labeling what they are doing. Who cares? | |

But good luck, I wouldn't invest much time and effort into this site unless you have lots of free time, or your time isn't valuable. There are TONS and TONS of liars, cheaters, women that use you, fake people, misleading pictures, misleading profiles, Fake people and women that just don't care about us men. I really don't get it.

the very same reasons might influence somebody to come online to find new friends. | |

Best part of online friends....you never have to help them move and its hard for them to borrow a couple of bucks. You're also never stuck being the designated driver. | |

Is it normal to come to POF looking for friends when you already have friends in the real world whom you've known for years and can trust?
It makes no sense that people come to this site to make new friends. I understand relationships maybe because of the matches, but friends?
Maybe I'm just not that type of guy, but what is this all about, coming to POF and looking for a friend to hang out with? Its inconceivable to me.
It doesnt seem normal to me, or maybe Im just fatigued ranting?
Not sure what would and would not constitute as "normal" .. but when I was overseas with my profile I had all sorts of ppl write to me who wasn't always interested in romantic relationships. .... Lots of women from different countries wrote me (how they found my profile is anyone's guess! but I am thinking perhaps via the forums) and were interested in being pen-pals .. ... Had this couple in NJ also write me ... they were planning to go where I was and teach English for a couple yrs .....
So in conclusion, not everyone comes on here looking exclusively for romantic relations. I don't find it all that strange. | |
