If i like the look of someone i message them,also if ive found their profile a good read and it has made me laugh is a good sign.
But you don't tend to know what they are like really untill you have spoken to them...ive often found that there can be a few messages flicked back n forth n then they turn out to be a bit weird or just boring,so what is in the profile doesn't always give that much away.

Wartface, I think any dating you do (I mean the universal you not you personally LOL) is doomed if you don't have a sense of happiness to begin with. You cannot expect someone else, or finding someone else, to make you happier. Personally I believe you have to find that within yourself before you even contemplate bringing another person in to your life.....

But that's just me I think I am probably in a minority of those using this site as I am not actually looking for love - you can't find that until you actually 'meet' someone in RL. This is just a tool to facilitate meeting new people.

I understand your point exactly. Just because we may have dating or long term on our profiles doesn't mean we can or should try and jump into that straightaway, or view people solely as potential mates. But the league thing exists in it's simplest sense (if you agree it exists at all) as something that people judge themselves and others on, usually by physical attractiveness, which I would think we do in real life too. It doesn't mean it's right, though.

Thanks, its been interesting to get other people s take on it, as there are often lots of ways to think about it.

I should add that I m not honing any potential stalking capabilities, obviously my choice of words made a few wonder if that s what I had in mind, made me smile tho, I was just talking about messaging certain people.... honestly ???!!!!

Some people over sell themselves or under sell themselves in their profiles.
Interactive communication,or lack of it forms my decision making.
If I held much stock in my profile then I would have put some effort into it.
