If a man asks me in real life if he can buy me a drink, and I decline, he wont stand there and berate me, but he will online. If I decline an invite to dance at a club, same thing...but online it is like I have committed the greatest crime by choosing the option of 'no thank you'.
Delete and then if they keep emailng you, block them. If it means they get blocked from using pof forever, that is thier problem and it would greatly help clean this pond up!! | |

I've found that it really helps to have a real life friend to vent to about this insanity that is this whole online thing when it gets you REALLY down. | |

That's just the way people are. As soon as someone says something you don't agree with, or your not up to specs, you get shot down. That's the way some people get their kicks in the morning, you know? Even though I was rejected by the OP, hell, she still is a cool girl, as cool as she was before we talked. She's just not into me. Is that REALLY so hard for people to accept? Yup, sometimes it is lol.
Hopefully someday, humanity will grow up. I don't expect it happenning on the internet however. | |

Posted: 4/10/2012 11:14:48 PM | I respond to eveyone who writes to me as I think it's polite to acknowledge someones effort and through reading the forums, I saw so many complaining that they don't get any acknowledgement. I know some of you will disagree with that but all good.
Sometimes I get abused - I respond with thank you for confirming I made the right decision about you and I block them. This doesn't happen much.
Most either say thanks and wish me luck as well, or do not send a reply and I don't hear from them again.
Some will ignore that I said I wasn't interested and keep sending me messages as if I want them. This is when I ignore them as don't feel the need to repeat myself. If they keep writing to me consistently, I will reply accordingly then block them...accordingly depends on what they say - I'm not here to put anyone down but if there ego is so over inflated they can't accept I'm not interested I can have fun with that...can't I :)
My favourites are the ones who try to save face by saying, something like "I was just sending you a message, I'm not interested, gee your crazy/stupid, etc, etc" lol, ok, sorry, my bad, what was I thinking :) | |

Posted: 4/14/2012 11:48:56 PM | Well, I had to bite and check out the OP's profile. 31 and from Canada. So, apparently not a US-Centric thing, nor for the late-teens-early-20s crowd.
Friend of mine noticed this too. He drives a transit bus, and has been going through hell since last fall. His wife of two years has been cheating on him, and she even drained his bank at one point. In other words, he picked a real winner.
So, here and there, I've been on his bus with him, talking him through this whole thing. We have a lot of mutual friends, and we're all there for him.
Anyway, I was talking to him while he was driving his route, and some woman sitting in the first row of seats, looked like she could not be older than 25, gets up, and tells him to "give up", and that he's worthless. Also had to throw in "no woman will want you". Considering that she had got on a couple stops back and only heard a few sentences, this seemed odd. Odder still, is that this friend of mine, has a good head on his shoulders (though this seemed to go to pot when he felt desperate and married the first one that came along!), is a fair and equitable person, and looks sharp too. In other words, he could do a LOT better than what he got, without even trying.
I guess that it is another one of those dumb things that some people do now. I guess it could be worse, really. Thankfully, no one has said it to me (yet), but I am probably now jinxing myself. | |

Instead of returning insults with insults, I prefer to leave them confused, anxious and wondering what just happened. Most of my unwanted online correspondence ends in absolute silence. I imagine them sitting there scratching their heads with no idea what to say next.
