| IS SOCEITY GOING TO POOP BECAUSE OF T.V ?????
Posted: 7/31/2005 7:06:16 PM | It's not because of TV itself...it's more like because of what is allowed to be PUT on the TV as 'entertainment'.
There are still good shows on television; admittedly, they're for ages 1-10, but they are there. 
Seriously though, the fact that TV shows are becoming filthier and more violent are because that's what the viewing audience shows that they LIKE. It's OUR fault that TV is disgusting because we're choosing to watch it. What can the writers do but give us what we want?
Desperate Housewives, Sex in the City...those are the top offenders in my opinion. Sleeping around, cheating on spouses, murder, lies...and it seems that most times, nobody has to pay for their wrongdoing. What does that tell us? That sort of behavior is okay, of course. Go out & do it too.
I'm a nanny, so the only channels I use are Nickelodeon, Noggin, and PBS. Once my neice goes home, the TV goes off. There is NOTHING worth watching anymore on television. If everyone would shut off the filth & violence as I do,maybe it would all go away again. | |

I feel, as someone said one page one, that TV is a reflection of society.
I can tell you from experience that all of the same things ... and more ... occur without the presence of a TV. | |

Once the learning channel has higher ratings than the typical "degrade yourself for money" shows, the world will be a happier place. Perhaps even the universe, who knows exactly how far that crap can be picked up. I hate to think we are representing our entire populance with The Bachelor. | |
