Filly: Why are you bringing THAT post into THIS thread? You should probably be responding to that post in the thread it was posted in, since these two threads are hardly related. This is purely about statistics.

Turnitup: No prob, Bob.

No, it's about your incessant complaining that you are better than all the women who deign to date you. It's tiresome and boring and if you feel that way then stop dating. You post the same thing over and over. Even Domo has stopped her one hit wonder. Perhaps if someone brings it to your attention you will stop. In this thread you have also posted the same crap. Don't you get tired of yourself?

I rarely ever say this, but I think you might have bigger problems than I do if you think my first post in this thread has anything to do with what you just claimed it did. You're actually scaring me a little. Actually, I think you just didn't read my post in this thread. Which is understandable, considering how long it is!

But still, to drag that post into this thread... you're still scaring me a little.

Age 25, within 5 miles:
Females: 131
Males: 258
Seems to be about a 2-1 ratio, right? In a medium-sized city (that's on the conservative side outside city limits).

Well, let's get into body type for both and being Current users, using advanced search:
Age 25-27, Avg/Thin/Athletic, online within 24 hours, within 50 miles:
Females: 201
Males: 691
(Ratio ~3.5 to 1)

Age 35-37, Avg/Thin/Athletic, online within 24 hours, within 50 miles:
Females: 115
Males: 340
(Ratio: ~3 to 1)

But of course -- you realize that you're getting auto-filtered by your own profile filter and the other potential people's filters, so they won't show up in a search... so even in the same area, one's mileage will vary. But logging out but doing a non-advanced search to see all results for OLDER:

Age 45-47, within 5 miles:
Females: 208
Males: 268
(Ratio: ~1.25 to 1)

Gets more even when you get older, it seems!

men and women here think it is a numbers game, more women than men or more men than women.
Bottom line it is like it is , like in real life, if a guy goes to a bar and is average to mildly attractive looking chances are no woman will approach him all night, worse at a dance club almost nil at the market, less at the beach, not very easy either at parties unless plenty of females are drunk. I go out alot, I am a man, this place is like in real life or worse, most women do not start the approach/contact males and the ones that do it is very few and far apart. Women say it is all in favor for guys in numbers, I have been to places where women outnumber men by a vast majority, a man still has to come up to the plate or end up just being by himself.

Fact of life not numbers. Older women here may get less e-mails because maybe those guys are either dead or sick already ahahaha or looking for a way younger woman to spend his money on like Donald Trump or not.

I have not had any luck, like one poster said... "if you are short man you might as well kill yourself" naw I will not kill myself i have good luck outside of this site, to know me in person is to be really impressed, so i say that in the mirror daily hehehe

They are complaining because the majority of them are idiots and wonder why women wont get in touch with them when they put must have sex or love to drink etc., in their profile .Soo funny some of then even have a fish they caught or their 4-wheeler as profile pic. Stupid... I should put my lipstick as my profile pic LMAO !!Lets face it most men can barely dress theirself let alone have a clue how to woo and keep a women. Looking for that one in a million and after tonight I may have just found him;)

Thats sooo funny and true I have seen the profile pics and it seems men have a real hard time looking at theirself in mirror and being honest..I promise at least 90 percent of men will say they have a athletic build whether they have a big gut, men boobs, skinny legs etc., and women are bad for lying about their weight so its all relative I guess...

I can guarantee that a lot of the women on here are the same. I have met several who claim to have athletic builds, but turn out to be BBW (Not that I have anything against BBW...but most people can tell the difference, lol). I have met one woman who used her (10yrs younger) friend's photos, one who claimed she was Athletic because she "went to the gym once a week"...and a couple where "Average" also becomes BBW.

"and women are bad for lying about their weight so its all relative I guess..

Agreed.
Yes, BOTH sexes lie about their ages, weight, height, any description that is available to do so.

90 percent of men will say they have a athletic build

Kind of like the female profiles that have skinny busty blondes with duck faces that have NO "About me" Description, and a photo you've seen on Facebook or Myspace 20 times before on diff profiles..lol..oh wait, they are generated profiles o.0 Men to women ration? Discard all the fake profiles, then see the difference :P

Like I've said before, there's more men online, but.....

Most are dummies and retards!!!! (for lack of better words)

They have awful profiles, pictures and messages.

So, if you have taken the time to craft a decent profile, and send good messages, that alone makes you better than 90% of the men on here. Heck, even spending time and learning from the forums will give you a big advantage.

I don't have even the best profile on here, and I get plenty of messages and responses. All I have to do is work a little bit harder than all the retards and goofballs on here that make up most of the men dating online.

The issue is demographics. Adjusted on POF for:

single/college educated/no children/athletic or below/age 21-40

The ratio average in the top metro areas is like 4-1 men to women or something. So when you're talking, for lack of better term, "peak" daters, this site tends to draw much more on the male side than the female side.

When you adjust the other way, and go into overweight/children/40+/etc. it shifts to something like 2-1 female to male.

Then, there are also more fake female profiles as well as a few other things you end up having to factor in.

When everything is said and done, you basically run into a circular situation where the relatively few "peak" women are messaged by EVERY type of man, and end up either being quickly taken or scared off of the site. This jades the non-desperate men, who also stop using the site because they're only contacted by women they view aren't in their dating range (the reverse happens to the more desirable men, although not in nearly the numbers).

Like Many of the above have stated, it's mostly an age group thing that get more even for older demographics. For my age group 20-30 in my area:
10 miles
M- 232
F- 80

25 miles
m-600+
f-467

That's in MA-RI

I'm guessing that is about three times as many single men than women, I suspected exactly that. The crap about there being more women in the population than men is very misleading as this is because women live longer than men (so the 1.3 to 1.0 the difference is in very old women) in reality my age group has more men that women in the population. This might be random genetic stuff or addition to maybe more men moving or immigrating to the United States than women. But I am certain there is a large imbalance in the United States. I'd say it's damn good to be a woman these days too.

This varies GREATLY by age on here. Slight variations by location. I have lived in 6 states while on POF (DE, KY, TN, CO, TX and CA) So that is east coast, west coast, Se and SW at least. Met POF gals from 12 states so far.

In YOUNG age groups it is HEAVILY weighted to men. Stats on the net show 8 to 10 males or more to 1 female but in my age group (45 to 55) in every single location I have lived if you cut the mileage down low enough to get an actual count its ALWAYS been pretty close to 50/50 males to females.

If your a 21 year old male on here you are screwed. But it steadily gets better and better as the age increases and its really not bad at all usually for the 45+ crowd for guys. Sure the guys still whine and make excuses but honestly in most cases (depending on location) once you get into the 45 to 55 range the ratio is not bad for guys. They just whine that it is because they dont get replies. (wink)

... and that's actually pretty irrelevant. It's in the ballpark range of 50/50, but either way, it's about on here, not from infant to nursing home in US & Canada.

When counting the genders, one needs to remember why they're doing it: Competition, right? Okay, it's not necessarily how many profiles exist, but among men and women:
- Currently Active (Online Today; many women can try it for a small tidbit and run)
- Thin/Athletic/Average body types (Competitive body types)
- Age ranges

From that, you won't get 600+ showing up every time, and you're narrowing it to active, allegedly-not-ugly-on-paper, within particular age-ranges that will have the ratios vary (closer to even ratio in higher age range).

Unless you have access to the database and personally verify the actual identity of every single member it is a mute point.

The resources required to figure it out from outside sources would be phenomenal.

What my gut tells me is that slightly less women then men put up profiles online.

We can assume more men are actively searching for women at any given time.

But that only reflects the real world and nature, no surprise :)

ok, i will break down the search results in my area.

ages 18-99
15 miles: 447 women
number of those that work full time 324
amount of full time workers that arent obese 137
number of women who werent bbw, worked full time, and didnt have more than 2 kids 4
none of those 4 women responded to a message. men so have it made on here.

disclaimer: i made up all of those numbers, but id say that theyre a somewhat accurate representation of the pof female dating pool in my area.

Dating sites are made up in a way, that women are the merchandise in the window and the guys are window shopping around.
Sounds horrible, but since guys have to initiate, then that's how it is. Maybe 1 out of 99 women would try to contact first.
The funny thing is, women expect men to read the profiles and make up their minds and then contact. Here is the harsh truth: Guys are window shopping and going by the pictures.
On the other hand, women are more demanding and more restrictive.
Example: Women would narrow down their criteria than men, such as "given height/weight/degree/wealth/age/
While guys would go by eyes first and maybe read the profile, so if she asks, then he can answer. Guy's criteria: face, boob size, weight (very liberal with that).

study conducted on online dating concludes 25% believe online dating is safe and a staggering 75% believe online dating is dangerous.
men are generally bigger risk takers than women. not surprising there is 2 or 3 males to every female online in any given search category.

My own analysis in two zipcode in Chicago area confirms this.

Men outnumber women on PoF (Chicago) under age 55. At age 30 there are about 2.5 - 3 times as many men as women looking for mates.

Once you get to age 55, men and women are equal in numbers, and when you get to 60 women outnumber men by 50%.

233 girls
295 guys

within 5miles online in the last day 18-21. Had to filter it down to that to get a small enough sample lol.

Now if I raise that age range a little to 24 year olds and take any log in times you get

220 girls
540 guys

Looks like in my area then that the ratio gets worse for guys as you get older. Which makes sense i supose since its a student town and their are tons of single 18-21 year old girls and boys who have come down to study.

I had to narrow the age range to only 29-30, any wider and I would max out at 700 men in that age range. I was just curious, and my previouse profession I often did sophisticated data analysis. But Chicago has a very large population.
