Dare I say it but we definately need a facebook-style thumbs up. So many top posts on this thread.
Flatfour - think that's true about photos. Some people probably look a lot better in the flesh. It would be interesting to know how many potential get-togethers or relationships have not happened on the snapshot judgement of a photo.
As for the sofa/watching dvd combo, personally I find it appealing, as it gives the impression it would be nice to relax with someone, rather than someone being the other extreme, and perhaps going ott. If that's ALL what they put, then yeah, it's probably a bit mundane.

| What words should be banned from profiles? Posted: 6/7/2012 3:49:43 PM | Cinderfreakinella I wont bite...only if you ask me to.
Night in on sofa watching a DVD with a bottle of wine
Looking for a good hearted woman
Help me mend my broken heart
I am tactile, looking for a tactile woman (equates to I wasn't getting any in last relationship so I'm damn well gonna make sure I do this time)
Anything you want to know just ask
I dont know what to write about myself I'll get back to this later
Looking for 'fun'...I learned quite quickly his idea of fun was very different from mine
YES everything she just said especially on the "just ask me anything" usually you ask an then they can't even put together a 3 word sentence..or never reply..
an on the "just looking for some fun" most women know what this code stands for an it DON'T mean actually going out on a real date together in public..
i can add 3 to the list the "i promise you wont be disappointed" line after reading that i already am LOL.
an the over rated " Oh im not like all the rest of the men im different" MMM HMMM..
an the failed line of when you ask so what are you looking for? if they reply back an say im looking for you..Uh ok that's a weird response typically their not serious about actually wanting to meet anybody.

| What words should be banned from profiles? Posted: 6/10/2012 12:02:16 PM | Don't agree with banning words as that's just petty but a few ring alarm bells and make me move on....
"sick of players" - this suggests she's been messed about a few times but still chooses to start relationships with blokes who have 'player' written all over them. This would make me paranoid that she couldn't turn down the advances of such a bloke behind my back.
"normal" - Discussed at length on this forum recently. Does she want someone boring? Someone who's the same as everyone else?
"Tall" - rules me out at a measly 5ft 11 and a half
"No weirdos" - rules me out as well :D
"Treat me like a princess" or any reference to money, eg "the man should always pay" - if you want a sugardaddy then there are websites where you'll have better luck than here.
"Add my bb pin......." - Why the feck would you give that out to any tom****and harry who happenes to view your profile? Unless you're promiscuous or an attention seeker.

As some also circumvent the 4 lines I want to know how they do that.

| What words should be banned from profiles? Posted: 6/10/2012 6:07:28 PM | Every time I see "seeking genuine woman" I keep wanting to pinch myself to make sure I'm real, in between wondering if I'll end up being taken to the antiques roadshow to be tested for authenticity.
it's in the post............ :P vvvvvvvv

| What words should be banned from profiles? Posted: 6/10/2012 6:11:11 PM | Any time I see a list of any personality traits that are requirements of the profile writer I tend to think "How do you expect to find out all that just by looking at a pic?"
vvvv I was thinking more along the lines of the fact you only really find that stuff out by talking to people. But I take your point. Hence I have tried something artistic with my pic along the lines of Escher or Magritte. And if you believe that....:-P

| What words should be banned from profiles? Posted: 6/10/2012 6:24:43 PM | ^^^^^^^^^^ You're right..... talking gives you a much better insight. I think you can glean much by learning to read in between the lines too :)
msg 76 That's very true..... that's why I always read the blurb too, although more recently I've been focusing more on the minor details, like the Klimt painting on the wall or the empty loo roll in the bathroom to give me a clue.... with limited success.

| What words should be banned from profiles? Posted: 6/11/2012 3:38:53 PM | Message 30 takes some beating for post of the thread.
There's a whole bunch of similar little phrases which all mean 'I like going out and spending your money' which isn't really appealing. And I agree with what everyone's said about 'sick of players' type lines.
|
| What words should be banned from profiles? Posted: 6/11/2012 4:57:10 PM | Profiles which state:
"not looking for a shag" - everyone is looking for a sh@g eventually
"not a pervert" - Oh great, call me
"no players, had heart broken before" - blah blah blah
"no psychos" - really limits my chances here

| What words should be banned from profiles? Posted: 6/11/2012 11:06:39 PM | "Genuine Woman" - Oh you haven't got a c0ck then, that's a relief.
"Make me laugh" - Oh fvck off.
"Make me smile again" as above
"I luv Clubbin'" - So do I , and seals make such easy targets.
"Treat me like a Princess" - Ok, get on your knees Cinderella
"Young at heart" Shame your face isn't , or your saggy norks.
"5/6/7 Kids" Christ, don't you have a telly?
"Looking for a nice man" You might be , but you'll go for a b*stard - again.
"Looking for Mr. Right" There will be considerable hoop-jumping.
"Looking for my Prince" I'll judge you on your car/house/wallet
"Good/Nice Girl" My pants are in my handbag.
